3/06/2024 Smelt is Running in Sandy River But Not Opened…Yet

Smelt dipping on the Cowlitz 2024 was slow and the 3/5/24 opener was a bust, must people went home empty bucket.
The next day I went to the Sandy on the Oregon side and the smelt is definitely running hot and thick.

I went smelt dipping for the first time last year when they opened the Sandy briefly. It was so fun! There were so many people and everyone was getting fish. We went home and fried some. They were delicious!
