- In this video I show you all of the modern equipment I'm taking on my 'Surviving the Great Barrier Reef Expedition'. It includes a run through of my camera gear, drones, and solar charging setup plus a break down of my modern survival equipment. I will only use this modern stuff if my historic survival quest for the the historic shipwreck haven on Cape York becomes impossible and I have to self-rescue to the nearest modern civilisation.

Sharp and amazing to keep track of all... Can you show the food survival needs like fish hooks, nets, knife... Spear if you are taking one. Really, wish you a safe trip.

Hey mate. Only just found your channel. Awesome content! Do you alert any authorities of your trip before you go or just tell family.
I usually just leave thorough details with my family. They expect daily ‘OK’ messages and I give them a plan to contact the authorities if these don’t come through after a specific amount of days. The two way messaging of the tracker is very helpful if something goes wrong, but if I something serious enough happened (eaten by a croc etc) that prevented me messaging at least they know where I was from my last ‘OK’ message. A tracker is way better in this situation than an EPIRB because you’d never get a chance to activate an EPIRB while being eaten by a croc so no one would have clue where or when to start looking for you.
Cant wait to see the expedition. Althou I am late to the party.

I fixed holes leaks with beeswax.
Put one side of velcro on the back of s glove and the opposing side of velcro on the belly of the drone.

Aren't you worried of the outrigger soaking too much water and not providing enough lift anymore?
I wonder if pirate ships ever thought about that as they sailed the world back in the day ....

@@Notinserviceij However, I agree that with an experiment based on a ship wreck, maybe it is not relevant as they might have had to do with whatever was available. It might also be that waterlogging is not a problem at all in that period of time. It will be interesting to see :) Maybe they had to use untreated wood and had no time to carve a hollow outrigger. Smaller outrigger boats use just massive wood as outriggers so it does work! I just don't know how fast would such a log get waterlogged, so how long it would work if exposed to the water for very long.
Luckily this has two outriggers so even if they do, both of them get heavier and counteract each other as long as both of them provide even a tiny bit of lift (actually possibly even without any lift at all!) which I now think they will. Apparently for driftwood to get waterlogged it can take months and months since they are not forcefully submerged in the water.

How do I get to see the trip?
I had to delay the edit due to writing a book about the adventure, going on Alone Australia plus a few other trips that popped up. I hope to have it out this year.

It’ll take a while sorry Shaiz. I’m making a full length feature film with the footage first and I don’t think I’ll have time to get the CZcams series out before I release the film. When I do get the remaining CZcams videos out in series there’re be a lot of episodes though. The expedition was 50 days long and a lot of stuff happened. It’s taken me 2 months just to do the first pass through all the footage!
