    Thank you for talking about the importance of fish safety and health. Catching fish is fun; sharing tips is fun; however, too few people practice conservancy of the fish. This keeps fish healthy and hatcheries full.

      They dont know jack shit about fish safety and health, NOONE with a bit of knowledge holds a fish up in the air for a minute, try running for your life for 5 min then put your head under water and see how well you feel after a minute. My bet is you can MAYBE last 5-8 seconds.

    congrats on a great fish. in efforts to conserve the health of these beauties, i usually tare my scale with the net on it and weigh the net. thats a great tip for chopping down a rod. im going to give it a try, but i may have a harder time doing that to a higher end rod... but i guess if its a dedicated rod.....

    Hey there...I've watched this vid waaaaaayyyyy too many times! LOL....make me cut the top off of two very nice rods! :) my question is about your boat of choice. I'm NEW to lake fishing (fly fish on the rivers). I bought a small 16.5' Crestliner SportFish last year and now have become addicted to chasing the Lakers. The wife and I like our little boat but I think we'd enjoy more room. I've started looking at upgrading...looked at larger versions of what we already have. Seriously looked into cabin type boats like a Duckworth. These lakers tend to be in larger lakes around me (Wyoming) which can get nasty quickly. So, what made you decide on a bass boat? For large lakes...what would be your boat of choice? Thanks in advance!

    • @hrswreck
      @hrswreck Před 3 lety

      Look into Weldcraft. I recommend getting some nice downriggers and a planer board setup if you want to catch them more consistently. The jig bite doesn't always hit, but it's the most fulfilling.

      Even though you asked a year ago. To be honest with a light setup anything over 12lb is a bit overkill, I use 9lb nano line and cant even break off on a rock snag if I wanted to. Most lines are rated 15-20% under the actual break strength. Using a palomar knot is the best option on braded lines that match water color makes the line almost unbreakable compared to a light setups max drag. Figured in the last year you figured most of this out, but hopefully this is some insight for new watchers

      try getting out there and fishing. i use one bait for lake trout, i have hundreds of hours of lure washing tied up in to this bait. that being said, when i give the same bait to a fishing buddy, i generally tend to out fish them with the exact same bait. if you must know what bait he was using, it was a silver grey tube jig, looks like a 4 inch and likely a 3/4oz jig head, but you would know that if you watched the vid and paid attention. next step, go out to the shop and buy exactly that, see how poorly it will do on your set up. trust me theres more to it than whats tied on to the end of your line.
