  • The Anki Overdrive car race set is billed as the world’s most intelligent battle racing system. Its technological secrets include a clever way to steer the cars that involves lines on the track that only special infrared sensing systems can see, and velocity-controlled motors. Spoiler alert: The Overdrive cars don't really contain tractor beams.

Bravo! As an engineer i wanted an actual explaination, and now i understand.
    You two are delightful.
    Thank you.

Phew! So glad I found your video. It helped me understand why my replacement of batteries wasn't working, and helped me resolve the issue. Massive sigh of relief followed as my record of 'Daddy Fixit' remains intact with my kid!

Another video that should have just as many likes as it has views! Great job ya'll. I wondered about the steering in these little cars but also wondered what kinds of interference they could be receiving from a regular household? IR and radio waves abound. Thank you for the video!

Its not a hall effect sensor - its optical... Botched again

We have the set and bought extra cars. My only problem is that for the $50 price tag on each car, Anki should have given the consumer an easy option to replace the battery easily just the same way one would replace a small battery in a drone. These batteries will eventually run out and they have to be soldered and who can do that?

me, just now on my Anki Drive Hadion car, it lasts 23 minutes per charge

mcbrideart: Who can do that? Anyone; soldering isn't that hard. You can get an affordable soldering station for not too much money (e.g. one of the Hakko 936 clones on AliExpress or Banggood), and YT is full of videos on how to (de)solder properly. Don't be intimidated, it's easier than you think.

I have already repaired a vehicle, without consulting any video first , an I could tell they were position sensors straight away . no professional knowledge just common sense . P.S mine were dirty sensors with fluff an crap
