Staring at someone while they sleep may be creepy if you're an adult or a teenager, with more primal desires and all, but as a kid it's really innocent. It's just innocent curiosity, not anything creepy. It's literally her grieving his loss and grieving the past, and I believe that's something at least most of us do once or twice to make ourselves cry harder. Like back when everything was innocent, no worries or anxiety about school or reputation, no backstabbing; where it was either they spat and blatantly hate you, or mend and genuinely care for you, and where there usually were no ulterior motives behind their generosity. But now, she really can't have that, since Ram is dead. He doesn't have his chance at being guided the right way since JD freaking killed him. Then there was the thing about him being gay for Kurt, causing for her to believe that even if he was still alive, she would never be able to be happy with him. Seriously though, what did she ever do to deserve any of this? She was, like, the purest character in the show.

Ok this song is absolutely beautiful and depressing, and Martha is a sweet cinnamon roll, too good and pure for westerberg, but the backstory of her obsession with Ram takes so much away from her character and the story.

It's not so much obsession as it is wishing for the world to be different. She knew Ram wouldn't love her because of how the high school world works. She never had many friends, and because she was chubby, no boy would look at her twice. At this point, the one friend she had had ditched her and, as far as she knew, gladly played a humiliating prank on her. I think it was not having Veronica that broke Martha enough to make her want to end it all. But Martha remembered a time when the popular boy was her friend and not a tormentor. And it was that memory that allowed her to hope, ever so briefly, that he might at least be her friend. That hope was dashed and the stab was delivered by a close friend.When Martha chose to end things, she thought of the time when a boy liked her and how it all ended. I imagine that, through elementary and middle school, she was horribly teased, but at least she'd had Veronica. Not having her friend made it that much easier for Martha to say, "I don't matter to anyone. So as I take my leave of this world, I will remember a time when I thought I mattered. I know the truth now, and so I'll do as those who hate me suggest."

Veronica, her only friend had just left her to be with the Heather's and now she's constantly bullied. When "Ram" informs her that he misses the old days her hopes are now up. Of course because Ram didn't write the note he doesn't understand what she's talking about. When Ram dies it's more of a realization that she's "meant to be alone". In conclusion I don't think she tried to kill herself because of Ram but instead because she feels completely alone.
