Incredible footage shows plane HOVERING in crosswind - Daily Mail

- Pilots were forced to show off their skills yesterday as stormy weather hit the north of England. And as this incredible video shows, planes flying into Manchester battled against the winds that saw many appear to be 'hovering' on their descent in. Posted on Twitter, the action is taken from near the airport pub close to the runway.

I feel like people are now just learning how planes work
Lol
Actually, It's A Glitch,
The first one,
If the earth glitches more we all end up in the backrooms
Does this make sense though the "explanation" given
@@someweirdsharkwithabladeho477 whats next, kites are glitches and birds aren't real? 🤣
@@lookdawg187 yes exactly, ur getting it now
It's still moving forward tho..
It should be moving forward at least 320km/h tho. The crosswind is so strong the plane groundspeed was much slower in this video
@@kaikart123 Slow ground speed doesn't = no ground speed. No ground speed = hovering. Der.
@@kaikart123 not 320 kmh calm down only like 250
Imagine being the pilot having to remain the position till the wind calms down
True but they are trained to deal with conditions like these
It's not actually hovering (I'm pretty sure)
Classic parallax effect example
Didn’t believe this was possible until I passed one today! Literally was sitting still didn’t move at all seems impossible to even explain
Well don't forget aerodynamics are extremely complicated
It’s easy, haven’t you seen birds do the same thing?
Just saw it today, that's why i came to check.😂
I saw it today on while I was on the highway
@@drekelley2352 that is an optical illusion
You and the plane are going in opposite directions at different speeds and the way your eyes work makes that illusion
You can literally see that the plane is moving towards the camera.
Yes but it would normally be moving much Much faster towards the camera. Have you ever seen a plane take so long to cover such a short distance?
Yes at the beginning it was almost still and basically saying from the wind. Then eventually they went back to normal speed again.
LOL my thought
How you gonna choose an oncoming vantage for a shot ?
@@TheDavidAshby That was pobably about 2 or 3 miles.
@@TheDavidAshby
It’s just that the wind is pushing back. That’s how planes work.
When wind is strong on a plane flight it slows down.
I have 250+ flight hours and 2 of them were probably spent in a situation like that.
Fantastic & amazing job captain and crew team
That's a nice pilot there. Nicely done.
There is a few videos of planes when there is no wimd just seemingly sitting there. It looks strange to say the least, obvious we go straight to this stuff happening. Just there is no sound either??😮
Wow, what amazing machinery
Freaky. I can imagine it Suddenly going POW right at your screen lol
I've seen multiple planes hovering we were driving through heavy traffic so we couldn't video it but it was very odd to see we took about 5 minutes to drive through the city the airplanes remained in place. The ones that appeared to move would just stop. I would say it was an illusion but we had quite a while to examine the scene
same
I just saw a bunch of FedEx planes hovering. It was very strange
It's a optical illusion, if you drive next to a flying plane at a bigger distance it looks like it would freeze mid air.
Parallax effect. The illusion has to do with angles between you, the plane, and a reference point.
Wow. People don’t understand the difference between airspeed and ground speed. Nothing weird about this at all because it never “hovered” or stopped moving forward. Ground speed might have been a little slow but his airspeed was still normal. It’s called a headwind, people.
An optical illusion?
Not so. A 737 would need a 140 knot/ 166 mph headwind to avoid stall speed. How often do you get a 166 mph headwind below 100 feet? Only in tornados or hurricanes. So don't insult our intelligence when you don't know what you're talking about.
@@ZeeJBC it’s an optical illusion.
@@Jkur2009 That’s what I asked lol.
@@roccodonato4120 I’ve had my private pilots license for 28 years so while I may not know much about a whole lot of things this isn’t one of them.
That's an optical illusion. It's moving. Although it does sound like a Tie Fighter.
Nah.. When The Drag Is Greaterthan Thrust.
@@MovieCraft the plane would crash in that case
@@BeReady726: Ground speed is irrelevant to flight. Given enough head wind, a plane can safely fly backwards. That's probably not recommended though, because there's no mirrors in the cockpit.
I’ve gotten videos of them hovering with no sound and been within 200 ft before. I’ve seen them hover like this before that’s normal. How about no sound and just hovering a couple hundred feet above you. It’s weird. Birds do the same thing without flapping their wings. Something weird is happening lately.
Same the stuff I've seen is nothing like this video. Plane was completely quite and sitting still
#CERN screwed up our reality in 2012. Things aren't going to get better. In fact, they are going to screw it up more later this year.
Perspective and wind
That thing is travelling at least 200 km/h, the camera zoom and position create the illusion of it just hovering when in reality it's very very fast even though it's preparing to land.
WAKEUP!! Hardly you
Know when these planes go to land some of them are going 60 miles and hour
@@americanpatriot3667
Sorry I don't speak miles.
American Patriot lmao he’s talking about knots
ToxicRolo I know what he’s talking about but when planes of this size land it’s only going about 60 in mph
@@americanpatriot3667
Planes land at more than 150 MILES PER HOUR, 200+ KILOMETERS PER HOUR.
At 60 MILES PER HOUR THE PLANE FALLS YOU MORON!
The plane:I’m not a plane I’m a frickin ufo
It’s called headwind it’s when the plane isn’t fast enough for the wind that’s why it’s hitting turbulence (it’s wobbly) it is like that because it was likely going under 50 knots(force)
Are u a pilot? Ur smart even tho I’m saying this 7 months later-
Stall speed for 737's at minimum gross weight and flaps at landing position are 145 knots (166 miles per hour.) So, no. That is not the answer Corey.
@@roccodonato4120 Then plz explain it's obvious you're "experienced" while dozens of other ppl have explained it perfectly while you REFUSE to believe the truth, go back to your echo chamber of conspiracy theories.
It's like flying an airliner... but slower
Wow that's amazing
That wasnt hovering. Hovering is when you remain in one place In the air
That’s an incredibly skilled pilot!
As opposed to all the untrained and unskilled pilots in the worlds airlines?
It's easier to land like that than without the headwind though?
Thats a super Jumbo Harrier jet
It's wind compressed againts the plane so it looks like the plane doesn't move for a bit
A 290 knot headwind will do that!
AYYYY ROYAL AIR MAROC MY FAVORITE
Bro I just saw that with a south west airplane today!
Not me
How could you have seen it happen today when this comment was posted five months ago?
@@MaxPower888 did you even read his comment?
Max Power harvard wants to know your location
Max Power your iq level is outstanding
It's incredibly slow like the first set of PC I've ever used
Yea ok the wind has to be at l 280 mph
You all have no idea the wind was too much and fast towards the plane
Optical illusion
nah, it's lagging
High ping
I have seen it in some airport's
Clearly a video trying to debunk those videos of where planes have been filmed not-moving in the sky...
They are getting desperate/pathetic now😁🤣
thanks you for this I was like this is totally different than when a plane doesn't move and is stuck in time like how we been seeing lately
I know lol
Its obv the pilot was in creative mode
Dont worry fam i got yall on the 1st like
i seen that before too
Pilots don't get paid enough.
If the wind stopped suddenly, would it just plummet
Exactly what I was thinking!
No, it would fly really fast suddenly forward. It's much like when you're on a treadmill you're running but staying in the same place. If the treadmill suddenly stopped you would use all your speed to go forward
Can anyone tell me whats up with the wheel suspension being at an angle
I imagine it’s because they have to angle the plane against the wind and when they touch down if the wheels weren’t angled straight towards the runway it could be bad for everyone on the plane. Once it touched down the plane straightened out and was back aligned with wheels. I’m no aviator though, just my guess to your answer. Hope I made sense.
they are flying into like a 200 km/h wind thats coming at them at an angle its not possible to fly in strait so they angle the whole plane until the moment they touch down wheels are like that so they dont explode on touchdown
Wind is strong af
We saw a hovering plane today... New Tech?
No. Just a glitch in the matrix.
Imagine being a stewardess on that plane..."Passengers Please Be Seated....Flight 105 Is stuck in Mid Flight ...Who Wants Soda & Peanuts"....lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I got a 172 cessna to fly backwards before I stalled it
I've seen this happen to me before
this is just a camera illusion, the wind is irrelevant..
you can hear the controller stating wind is 290 at 19. meaning coming from 290degrees at 19knots.
The runway in use is most probably runway 24, by trigonometry we can find that the headwind component is only 12knots.
the airspeed of this plane should be more or less 150knots.. meaning that wind is only slowing it down by 12knots on the ground!! so instead of seeing it passing over you at 150knots you see it at 138knots. as i said, irrelevant :)
I say this is an parallex effect
When ya wife is off and you left your phone at home😂
I just saw a bunch of FedEx planes hovering like they were waiting in 2 lanes parked in the air a distance away from each other like how trucks do. Idk what that was but they were all completely still. It was very strange
it's definitely a glitch
@@shortbullm2011 I swear!!!
I saw this today
I saw one stuck in the air on my school bus
The plane is moving and it's clear that it is moving!
When you encounter a plane that is literally not moving, you will know! 👀
Smh just saw something similar on highway today.
Bro was on a red light 💀
Go to Dallas Fort Worth Texas you'll see 6 or 8 Fed Ex planes at a time .
*BUTTER*
its a noclip something that doesn't move, like a glitch
Can be done.. it’s all about headwind and trust proportion
Omg😢
Ok ok, let’s say the headwind is 200km/h and the plane is travelling at 220km/h, meaning the plane is still moving, but of slower speed.. so from afar, the plane seems stationary.. but actually it is still moving albeit at very slow speed
THIS IS REAL i just passed a yellow spirit aircraft on the highway today that was hovering in mid air.
nah
I just saw this but i was driving and couldnt grab my phone...and it wasnt windy
Ups has a plane that hovers I saw this morning trying to get answers
Seems to be happening more often lately
Angles
Nah, he just paused his game to grab a snack
It's moving the whole time, though.
I just seen a plane in my town in Pennsylvania a few weeks ago except it wasn't moving at all it looked as if it was just frozen In time for a minute and then just proceeded to go again it was directly above a gas station
Hahahahah
Patrick Smith Its Called Hovering
So commercial passenger planes can just hover now? Where the hell are the physics in that?
And also why would they hover over a gas station in the middle of a city?
I just saw the same damn thing in Virginia.
Guys it’s this really weird thing, I’m pretty sure it’s called the plane landing
It is because of the weather, the speed of the turbine and the wind ( i came to know it from the internet)
it moved
The AirPLANES PLANE.
This Plane is moving even with very strong crosswinds but when there is no crosswinds and you witness the same thing happen ? don't fall for what they tell you it is I know what I have seen
Lol that's not hovering...
OK buddy it moving tho?
It's just a really large object so it's hard to tell. But not really if you pay attention you can see the airplane getting larger and larger as it gets closer. It is not hovering.
lol it's not hovering, pilot just presed the pause button
Yeah, totally hovering, that's why it's MOVING...
Saw something similar at Wilson Airport, Nairobi, from a moving car. I couldn't believe my eyes
This is the alien tech bob lazar was referring to on the doccie and on the joe rogan show
It’s not a real plane because airplanes don’t hover and freezing in time this what you see when passer jets that gone missing.
Shouldn’t the video be titled….”Normal footage of a plain landing” ?
Erm, it's not hovering.
I knew there had to be an explanation. But now they’re mocking me😡
If the wind is blowing at 200km/hr towards the aircraft, the gust of air through wings would provide enough lift to take off, independently from ground speed. Remember that air speed is completely different than ground speed (one we are accustomed to), depending on wind speed and direction.
This is why you don't play multi-player games at McDonald's.
Airplane trying to land like helicopter
Birds 🦅 do this all the time.
Thats not hovering its landing.
Chopper style
That's not hovering. That's just crosswinds +flaps
hovering? everyone see, that the plane is coming closer...
y my plane stopped working
bad internet on the server
Uhhh it was moving...
Player disconnected from the server
I just posted some similar content on my channel a whole string of planes looks to be frozen in the sky!
Yes this seems to be happening all over. I myself have witnessed a few of these but shrugged it off thinking it was an optical illusion.
It’s called crabbing
That's not hovering like some videos show...way to try and cover up.
Well i though it was a florida because we all break something but i guess not
I seen the same thing in florida
Well, Gray will do something about that now that you've brought Florida into this
Happened to me on a 737
What, it landed? No freeekin way!
Dont worry people its just Tom cruise on cruise mode...
VTOL I think
The Almighty YAH.
The aircraft is following a virtual line in the sky. It isn't hovering. It's descending and moving forward at just the right rate to never move up or down in the frame of the camera.
It is literally how planes land...
Not possible, it would stall and crash
