      The rubber seal lubrication really works. It lasts for a few weeks and then i have to do it again.

  • @ladychiefretireddiy2025

    Wow, thank you for this information. I am new RVer. I just went through a year and 1/2 of hell with my first brand new 32 ft RV. It was too big for me to handle when traveling alone and lots of problems. Also, I had horrible customer service from the dealer. So, now I have down sized to to a Thor Vegas 24.1 RV. Which of course, I bought from a different dealer. Wow, what a difference a good dealer can be. Anyway, I now know I need to do some maintenance myself to save money, time and frustration. So, I bought the products you recommended and I will begin to take care of my new RV. Hopefully, I won't have the problems I had on my last one. I subscribed and hope to learn more from you.

    I use the 3 in 1 stuff except for the slide. My slide is a lippert and the stated to use CRC power lube with PFTS. Another thing I do is use the Rubber Protectant on the seals around the entry door and the storage compartments.

    • @HowToRV

      I dry lube is great for metal parts as you stated. I never gave a thought to the door seal. Thanks for the thought.

    Thanks for your video. I'm familiar with using a silicone spray on the slide-out seals. I don't usually open my windows, but I can see where it is beneficial to lube the window tracks. Door hinges.....that was the first item I replaced on my RV. Friction hinges - I hate them and they are gone now. Replaced with non-friction hinges.

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  Před rokem

      Funny you talk about the friction hinges. I really did not like them either. I have to be more diligent on making sure wind doesnt catch them but the squeaking and flexing ofthe frme is gone now.

    Thanks for the great info! What’s the difference between silicone and PTFE (Teflon) dry lubes… which is better? Thanks

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  Před rokem

      They have specific uses. The silicon is great for seals and stick on there longer. It doesn't come of as easy when it rains or baking in the sun. The Teflon dry lube comes out wet and dries to a powder. The Teflon is great for things like door locks, window tracks, curtain tracks. Typically dry lube is used on surfaces that will not get wet. Also dry lube does not leave an oily residue either. Hope this helps.

    I use 303 witch is a much better product when it comes seals. Also it works great on your tires to keep them fresh and prevent dry rot. Tires will dry rot before you use them up. So I spray them once a month. Works great on the slides& doors etc.

    • @HowToRV

    I’ve the same slides you do, I wipe my slider tracks and use a dry silicone lube. How long have you been using the 3 in 1 slider lube? I’ve been skeptical of trying the 3 in 1 on those tracks for dewar of gumming them up, even tho I wipe them out and clean them with a small brush.

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  Před rokem

      I have been using the 3 in 1 since the beginning. Although I do not have anything to, I have not had any issues or appearance of degradation.

    Missing a major grease point.. hub bearings. Use a standard grease gun with any automotive grease pop the center rubber cap off and inside center should be a grease zert. 2-3 pumps is all you really need. Also use the same grease on the screw threads on scissor jacks. From time to time I liquid wrench or wd40 the spring hangers to help stop squeaking

    What kind of lubricant do you use for the jacks?

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  Před 2 lety

      I have used grease, ry lube and so on. The grease attracted to much dirt and grime. The dry lube doesnt last very long. To that end though. I went with a lithium dry lube spray. I have to apply more often but is way better than trying to clean off dirty grimy grease.

    So, you lube the Scwintek "S pattern" rail? I was lubing it also. But Schwintek says it isn't necessary.

    • @HowToRV
      @HowToRV  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes I do lube them. It is a dry lube meaning that the lubricants liquid evaporates leaving behiind the dry lube. It does make a difference in smoothness and sounds better when I have cleaned it. I know that you said that they say that it isnt needed but in my experience, metal on metal running equipment need something to keep down wear and sticking. What are yoour thoughts?
