OIL PAINTING on location - Carrick Roads Cornwall

- Today I am oil painting on location overlooking Carrick Roads in Cornwall.
The light was very changeable (it also rained whilst I was there!). This plein air landscape painting will form part of my exhibition which opens summer 2022 at The Royal Cornwall Museum.
All of the work is based on the Carrick Roads (in Cornish - Dowr Carrek) which is the estuary of the Fal River. I am plein air painting my way around the area, taking in the beautiful views and thoroughly exploring this wonderful part of Cornwall.

Hi Andrew, another amazing view, thank so much for this!!! Your Art is always, and repeat always amazing.... And... 🤫Amazing hat too... 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️Big Artist Andrew Barrowman!
Thank you very much Veronica 😃
It’s good to see an alla prima session stop at a good stage. I find I can’t help tinkering until it’s ‘finished’ and suddenly it’s overworked
I agree totally. I am very guilty of overworking just trying to find something extra
That came out really nice I love the sky
Thank you very much
Lovely work Andrew - so good to watch you painting 👍
Thank you very much Tony
Thanks Andrew very nice
Thank you Keith
Beautiful scenery! Loved the way you captured the scene. Thanks Andrew, I really enjoy your videos. Well done!
Thank you very much Lynette
I’m lucky to have access to the land on the peninsula courtesy of the farmer
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt That's super! Look like a beautiful area and lots of painting inspirations!
It is a beautiful area that I will be going back to for years to come
Thank You, Excelent!!
Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks! Love the video. You looked a bit like V. Van Gogh..? Lol. Your explaining during painting I like very much. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Jan
The beard is only temporary 😂
Great job, Andrew. Nice work.
Thank you kindly Bob
How amazing to be given access to the farmers land and get views no one else would have. It’s a lovely part of the county with all those little creeks and wooded valleys. I really loved your finished painting and how you dealt with the changing light. Hope to be able to see the exhibition. Do you think you will have a catalogue to go with it?
Thank you so much Jennie
I got lucky meeting the farmer and he is a great chap too
An exhibition catalogue would be great if we can arrange it with Cornwall museum
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt I’d love to buy one!
@@jenniek4617 I will let you know
I like your method a lot. It’s quick, loose and your colors are pleasing to look at. One question though. I was taken by the trees next to you and imagined how they would make a fantastic painting. Did you consider them and the surrounding growth as a painting?
Thank you very much. Yes I really liked the trees and the surrounding landscape. My focus had to be the river as it is the theme for my next exhibition.
However I plan to return to do more landscape painting over the winter as I’ve got to know the farmer very well
All the best 👍🏻
How did you make homemade gesso?
I use Chalk and glue - there are other recipes which can be found online
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt ohkk what kind of glue? The glue online i see is rabbit skin glue, and i have no clue where id even get that
