  • Today I am oil painting on location overlooking Carrick Roads in Cornwall.
    The light was very changeable (it also rained whilst I was there!). This plein air landscape painting will form part of my exhibition which opens summer 2022 at The Royal Cornwall Museum.
    All of the work is based on the Carrick Roads (in Cornish - Dowr Carrek) which is the estuary of the Fal River. I am plein air painting my way around the area, taking in the beautiful views and thoroughly exploring this wonderful part of Cornwall.

    Bye for now - Andrew

    It’s good to see an alla prima session stop at a good stage. I find I can’t help tinkering until it’s ‘finished’ and suddenly it’s overworked

      I agree totally. I am very guilty of overworking just trying to find something extra

    How amazing to be given access to the farmers land and get views no one else would have. It’s a lovely part of the county with all those little creeks and wooded valleys. I really loved your finished painting and how you dealt with the changing light. Hope to be able to see the exhibition. Do you think you will have a catalogue to go with it?

    I like your method a lot. It’s quick, loose and your colors are pleasing to look at. One question though. I was taken by the trees next to you and imagined how they would make a fantastic painting. Did you consider them and the surrounding growth as a painting?

    • @AndrewBarrowmanArt
      @AndrewBarrowmanArt  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you very much. Yes I really liked the trees and the surrounding landscape. My focus had to be the river as it is the theme for my next exhibition.
      However I plan to return to do more landscape painting over the winter as I’ve got to know the farmer very well
      All the best 👍🏻
