The great thing about Justins tutorials apart from the fact they are always spot on is that he always plays them thru first. I love this because you are given the opportunity to decide whether you want to learn this song or not also if you do decide to learn you can always skip back to the start for timing and phrasing.
Has he stopped singing? Please tell him to sing while playing the song through. Sometimes, that's all that is required.
You're one of the few who actually break down the chords BEHIND the solo section.
Thank you for that
Thanks. Gotta know the chords to know what the lead is doing. Cheers 😊

I love this song, but watching you play it with that great big beaming smile on your face makes me enjoy it even more!
That's why we play guitar, man - for the sheer pleasure of it. Great job Justin :-)
True Bro i think the same of you❤Keep on Rock🤟
You never let me down . Any of the old songs that I love ,, you show how to play it . Thanks
I love your tutorials because you don’t do just do the tablature version but you can feel the emotion!!!
Thanks for the share! Really appreciate your attention to detail and charisma throughout the tutorial. Cheers!
As always thanks for the lesson . I find it easier to play the first chord x55033 as it helps me to change quicker
Justin, you are a great teacher and kudos and thank you. May I suggest that you add visuals of the chords you are playing? Sometimes it is difficult to see exactly what you are doing, in this song the chords of the verses. Your pacing, clarity and preparation are great. Some of us need as much visual help as possible. Again, you are truly one of the best instructors on-line, and your efforts are appreciated.
You' ve taken they words from My mouth, to thanks Justin for his great effort to teach us how yo play.
I love rainbow! Catch the rainbow is such an absolute tune!
I do not only watch your videos to learn songs i also enjoy watching you playing !! You rock
Many thanks for showing this, really enjoyed learning how to play this classic song. Any chance you can show how to play the main solo??
I think this is the best tutorial out there to learn this song. Thanks Justin🎸
I love your tone on this, it's so great.
love your enthusiams while teaching and making it fun!
I´ve always loved this tune - but never nailed it. This is the BEST chord work on here - I´m Gonna rob your Middle bit !??
I had the pleasure to meet GB cos a mate from 15 years ago is now his guitar player - Conrado Pesinato. Small world ehh !! His PIPES are something else. Sound-check took my head off.!! His gig volume is something else & HE still got it at 74.
😁 thanks Justin 😁Love, Peace & VOLUME from Madrid
Thanks for sharing this. Very well done!
Love that crunchy sound!!!!!!!!!!!
what a gem you are mate ! thanks for posting this
Thanks man, always wondered what that mid 8 was! Gotta do this on a gig this week :)
great lesson as always remember this song from when I was a kid
spread the happiness dude!!!!
Another GREAT Classic Rock tune! Thank You! Cheers from sunny California!
Awesome work Justin.
Great!! Thanks!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Justin!!! 🤘
love this thanks a bunch Justin
The guitar player is Ritchie Blackmore, One of the most under rated guitar players in history.
Nice one Justin. Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful song. I read an interesting anecdote about the original version, specifically the main Blackmore solo. Someone was impressed at the guitar's amazing tone, and asked producer Roger Glover, 'What effects did Ritchie put on his guitar?' Glover replied, 'Effects?'
Thanks for this tutorial
You're they best
LOTS TO REMEMBER BUT ALL GREAT, THANKS JUSTIN.
YES YES YES. Just what I've been looking for. How much you want for this lesson Justin?
Thanks for the help .
Hi Justin. Wanted to learn this song. Found a great teacher , you! I can echo previous comments. , your clear instruction a patience is perfect. You explain the steps without too much fluff as you know we know much, not all, obs, what you're referring to . I mean tones , steps ,roots etc.
My only request... those bridge melodies are built on several different scales seemlesslt blending and fitting the chord backing, would love your insight into what's going on i.e. Blues scale to major pentatonic to minor...that stuff. Thanks again and keep that grin!
You are the best justin!! Redgards from argentina!!
Very nice Justin
great lesson and a great song. Rainbow did the best version of this song, but like many great songs it took a few versions to get it right, originally this song was written and performed by the amazing song writter Russ Ballard
Thank you sir
Thanks dude!
You look so happy when you play. :)
Thank you justin
Thanks for this
Perfektné, súper
Sweet!!
AT LAST! awesome! =)
I love this guy and song! So fun to play. Less talk more rock by Propagandhi always reminded me of this song for some reason?
Thanks Bro I love this song❤
¡PERFECTO!
Justin ROCKS!! \m/
SOUNDS CLASS.. NICE ONE... CHEERS
Cool 👍
Simple and great. Thanks Justin. How about some vintage Halen? Anything around '78 You da man!
Super cool mate you are...
legend
yeah too much joy in his face. That's what music needs :D
Forgotten Gem!
HELL YEAAA
Hey Justin, great lesson thanks. Any chance you could do the outro lesson please, as there are no simple ones on YT. Thanks
Was waiting for the "Ugh!" after the solo
I remember years ago reading that Blackmore played the opening G of the intro a little differently to the G5 shown here. He played it similar to a G barre chord but without barring with the 1st finger.
The fingering would be: High E 3rd fret, B 3rd fret, G open, D 5th fret, A 5th fret, Low E isn't played.
Having the open G string gives the chord a nice ring. Give it a try and see what you think 👍
If I am not mistaken this was originally by Argent who do not get half enough credit. Head East covered a year before Rainbow.
Argent's "Hold Your Head Up" is another great rock anthem.
Justin - I'd pay VERY good money to see you fronting a covers band! To any intermediate guitarists out there watching this chap, subscribe to this channel now! If you want to understand this instrument and get good, keep watching this guy!
Thank you so much! Isn't there a lead at end?
Hey Justin! I just had to comment. I have watched so many CZcams videos on learning guitar that you probably wouldn’t believe me! However, you are by far the best teacher I have seen. I can tell that you are a no nonsense, to the point, serious teacher. I wish I could’ve met someone like you 30 years ago!
Awesome, you made it quite easy, I needed that. What a blast to play, Ritchie is a freakin genius'
any hints on how to get the right tone from the amp? thanks
Hell yhea! Rainbow! Nice, Justin!
Does this mean we'll see some Dio soon?
Hey Justin! This is great, just like the recording! I want to ask you, what overdrive effect are you using for the intro, a Tube Screamer? Forgive the lame questions, what year strat is that? Is that an American strat?
Now that the great Tomoyasu Hotei lives in London, you should definitely try to do some lessons with him. I'm sure he'll agree :)
cheeky smile! ;)
Do you ever realise just how good you are
was about to write that hah
タブ譜をつけてくださると助かります。とてもいい演奏ですね!
Hi Justin.
Justin you should do something by The Doors.
Up and down then up 😛🎸
You say during the bridge section of the video, at 12:28 that it's "going over" the other part. Does that mean they're being played at the same time or what? Thanks.
Sounds like the main riff "inspired" Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe. These young pop artists are SoOo damn creative...
cool
Since you been gone, Since you been gone! I'm out of my head can't take it! Could I be wrong? Since you been gone! You cast a spell so break it!
That's a great lesson. You even checked it with the record and that's pretty awesome. Most guitar players just go through songs very losely.
YouAMoron - of course you do. Any chance of you putting your video to check if Justin really is off the rhythm? >:)
***** Am I the one biting here or defending someone who has been bitten? >;) We should teach them that constructive criticism is ok, but not attack.
could you teach yellow ledbetter by pearl jam
You think everyone remembers same "classics" ? Music is revolving around being often familiar, we have "only" 12 notes in western music after all.
What guitar is that? anyone know?
Joy
actually Russ Ballard wrote this not Ritchie Blackmore
sd sturges True, also I surrender as well.
yes, fairly well known. Verp poppy though and left much room for improvement
it has became stereotypical after this one great song
I'm not complaining, but he is kinda right. The chorus sound quite a bit like pop-punk progression (I-V-vi-IV) but actually it's not (I-IV-vi-V). I also wonder how come you guys remember 2012 summer fad song and not mention the classic hit of Boston More Than a Feeling which has not only these chords in chorus but also the same key of G.
16.02.: 6:06 17.02.: 7:01 20.02.: 8:52 22.02.: 10:47 24.02.: 11:49
am ende zettel mit "spielanleitung" schreiben!
+1 for the start of a beard, lol.
Drive by (train)
Nice! Maybe a string out of tune? E or A.
Jepsen??
The outro solo is the best part but you missed it out.
The outro is an improvised fade-out solo, and not essential to playing the song.
that look 0:45
There's a lot missing. All the chords that lead to the key change and the main solo.
why wont these videos play anymore??? just me.
Most of time those complaining people don't really know anything about chord progressions or composing music.
The song has more to it. The key change has a different end pattern. You missed it.
