Happy Birthday, Ray! Love the wife trolling with the doodley-doos! A German car with a misfire and bad window regulators...no way!😂
I miss the doodley doos! LoL
The worse was a E38 with 6mm glass in the rear. Easily break that glass during regulatory replacements. $600 Fup
I think the wife unit just invented a new sport! 🤣🤣🤣
🎉 happy birthday ray, wife unit got you good with the ring tone, it is nice that you can have fun
@@richb.4374 As do I
Lauren killed me when she trolled you with the "doodleedoos" 😂😂
You just can't beat comic relief like that!! 🎉🎉
@wifeunit @rainmanray
Love the videos as always y'all 🤩
That was great!!
Too funny😎 Watched it over and over and over
When i heard the "doodleedoo" I thought I was either hearing things or Ray had one piped in for old time sakes. His reaction to it was priceless.
Loved the doodledoos!! That was awesome! Anothaaaa!!!
Definity found Rays Kryptonite. Thanks for the Laugh!
20:50 Yes! The phone tune we’ve been missing all this time.😂 Good job wife unit.👍
Classic Ray! Doodly-doos, AVE-style package opening, tool truck impulse buys, and gravity! Feels like a rewind to 2021
(I much prefer current Ray, for the record, but this was a fun throwback 😁)
I do miss the phone noises thing ❤
Was half expecting TIME! when he got that package open lol!
He needs a feisty dog to open the packages ala Curtis of CEE! 😂
A tip of the hat to Wife Unit for the ringtone prank. I had a Pavlovian reaction myself.
We need the doodley doos again. I miss when Ray said that
A neat aircraft mechanic trick for hard to reach bolts, screws etc. Use a piece of vacuum hose over the head to start the screw. Works for spark plugs also
I used this trick for reinstallation when I did my plugs a couple months back. It's great because unlike a socket and extension you can't accidentally crossthread the plug, if it's not aligned right it'll just slip in the tubing.
🎉 Happy birthday Ray! 🎉 Thank you for making us part of your life. God bless you
Way to go Wife Unit! 👍 👍
The doodley doo really brought a huge smile to my face! Missed it😅😅😅! Penbwlydd Hapus 🏴🏴 Welsh for happy birthday 😅😅😅
Ray you and jimmy making it work make more videos than any of the other channels. I watch both every day.
Happy Birthday Ray! Another great video, as always.
that's right not electrical tape... use duct tape. "If they don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy"
Ah ha a Red Green fan!
Or Christmas style Scotch Tape😊
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Always love references to Red.
I just wonder what Red Green would do with speedtape. Could you imagine the contraptions and fixes he could do with that? :D
Another Red Green fan.
Great to see you doing work on a BMW Ray.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ray!🎉🎂 Thanks for all that you do!
PRICELESS!!!! Amazing job wite unit!!!
I drove an E34 BMW V8 for years and did a lot of DiY work on it. The engine is extremely sensitive to vacuum leaks, and a total intake manifold gasket replacement job is pretty much a given at 150K. The PCV plate at the back of the manifold is usually done by then as well.
Is that a legit V8 option in the 530? I thought it may have had an engine transplant from perhaps a 540 model?
@@DeepakKumar-lv4te530 means 5 series 3.0 engine which was a v8 back then.
I have an 840ci with the m60 and tbh it's super easy to work on. You are right about the sensitivity to vacuum leaks. It def is better than working on newer bmws lol
The 530's back then came with either a 3.0L or a 4.0L V8 @@DeepakKumar-lv4te
@@Cdub541Those 1990's bmw engines were rock solid.
Loved the 530, so smooth at cruising speed.
Happy Birthday Ray! Many More. Old mechanics never die ,They just get older.
Thanks Ray, Have a great day!
Smart move checking with Ric. A great St Louisian business guy, even if he is a BMW freak! Love his Saturday night teardowns.
I had such a E34 530i with the straight 6 engine ... oh the memories...!
Ray, I enjoyed this video, thanks for taking the time to make it for us !
Happy Birthday Ray! You earned an awesome day!
Check the idle control valve (located right above the throttle body,) sometimes it gets gummed up and stuck open, and a little shot of brake cleaner in it should free it up, a quick test would be rotate the unit back and forth and side to side you should hear a little throttle door flapping away.
I wonder what "a little shot of brake cleaner" would look like when Ray does it... Another!!!
Only one can !!@@alexanderkupke920
Who would have known electrical tape on the air intake tube would cause the power windows to malfunction? These damn German cars!
Also installing it you should remove the rubber things and attach those first , slide IAC in rotated 90 degrees then rotate 90 and push it into the manifold.
No need to stab yourself and you will have a proper seal without using silicone
Tape repair for DIAGNOSTIC REASONS is absolutely acceptable, in this application. I am in no way shape or form an actual mechanic, but I am (and most are) snart enough to understand what your putting down.
You're definitely NOT a hypocrite.
A damn good mechanic that I wish I could bring my truck to!!!!❤🍻
Electrical Tape / Duct Tape = The all-purpose tool! 👍
@@dantesinfernopurgatory7826 As long as you are aware that neither is a long-term solution, particularly if exposed to the elements.
@@MonkeyJedi99 Tape should NEVER be considered a long-term solution - especially to repair holes/cracks in plastic components.
@@dantesinfernopurgatory7826 That's what I wrote.
@@MonkeyJedi99 Consider that a concur.
Happiest of birthdays to you ray!, also yippee! A part two coming! Love seeing car repairs in parts as well as occasional long videos.
Happy belated birthday Ray. Hope you had a great evening. Keep up the great content. Thanks.
Yes! Yes! Yes! We have Dooo de dooooo’s Thank you Loren !! That was awesome 👏🏻!
Happy Birthday Ray! Thank you for the content while healing from a knee replacement. Keep it coming, I have my left knee replacement scheduled for November 14th.
Happy Birthday, Ray. great videos.
Happy Birthday Ray.... God bless You!!!
Happy Birthday to you, Ray! 🎂🍻🍻🍻
Well done, Lauren, for bringing back the doodley doos!
Is it just me, or did I see Ray 'flipping the bird' at that rear window after defeating it? 🤣🤣🤣
Yes you did, He said "I win window" and then he did the Oh No! Flipped the bird..........We saw It.
@briandemas2548 Hahahahaha! Cool! So I'm not the only one that flips the bird at inanimate objects! 🤣🤣🤣
Happy belated birthday Ray, look forward to seeing part 2 on this. Also looking forward to seeing the rest of your progress on your truck.
happy late bday 2 u ray
Happy birthday man! Another good vid!
thankyou Ray,looking forward to part 2. and a very happy belated birthday to you,👍👌
I’m just amazed that it was given to you with a full tank. Remember, that’s a BMW. People aren’t used to seeing the turn signals on. If you need BMW parts the LKQ in tampa released around 20 BMW’s into the yard about a couple of weeks ago
Usually, that means that inevitably the tank is gonna have to get dropped for some reason. 😂
happy party day
Thats what makes them Ultimate machines! The illusion of having a full tank adds to the fun never stopping 😂. Why the window driver is normally the same conditions cuz turn signals are overrated and gesturing is easier to draw attention faster 😅😂
Happy birthday Ray 🎉🎂🥂
Happy birthday Ray!
Thank you for this super goood Chanel.
Happy birthday Ray!!! Lot's to celebrate this year!!! That BMW is a ticking time bomb, get it out of your sights ASAP!!!!
Happy birthday brother Ray hope you get everything you want for your birthday you deserve it love you guys I love it when the wife unit was trolling You by the way
Evil Doodlely-do's are back! Nice troubleshooting job.
Happy Birthday,Ray keep up with your contents and keep up the good work.
Happy B-Day Ray!!!!! Have a great weekend .
Knipex Cobra pliers are really good for dealing with those stripped fasteners. I haven't found any reverse "turbo" sockets for putting them back in yet.
Another cool video to be sure, and I just want to add that I am really enjoying the restoration you’re doing on your truck interior. That is a huge project and really fascinating to see it going down.
Thanks 👍
u lose window lmao

Ray, that's the best way to open one of them packages that we all hate that i have ever seen. Great job
I gotta say, I enjoy seeing and hearing yours and Lauren’s interactions! Seems real and refreshing! I enjoy all of your channel but wanted to hone in on that. Keep up the good stuff man!!! You encourage and entertain many! 💪🏼👊🏻👍🏻
This is when an honest mechanic is worth just staying with when you find them. He could easily have said oh needs intake gaskets and a whole other list of work. I do all my own work but I have one other mechanic I use when I just don't feel like doing a repair. Been using the same person for 15 years won't go anywhere else.
I have learned, as I reach middle age, I need to find a good mechanic who is YOUNGER than I am, so I don't have to find a new one every 3-5 years.
That is so true.@@MonkeyJedi99
Ray is literally the cool uncle that works on cars for a living of the CZcams community the cool uncle is always willing to teach their nieces and nephews something new about cars!
Cant wait for part 2 ray! Great video!!!
Hoping it was a very Happy Ray Day !!!
Its always a good thing to reseal the entire intake (tb gasket, intake gaskets and replace crankcase valve , possibly the crankcase tube o-rings under the intake.
This is why it's only viable if the faults are fixed as they arise.
It's a project car for DIYer or a money pit.
Hi Ray, watching you work with the Throttle Body made me wonder if you have heard of the "No-Touch Screw" on the NA Miata throttle bodies? Would love to see your answer to a common Miata issue. EDIT: Almost forgot!! Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday Ray hope you have a great night.
Happy Birthday Ray from Sydney Australia.🎂
Happy Birthday, Ray! You have truly performed a miracle in repairing the un-repairable turn signals on a BMW!
Mystery solved!!!……That’s why BMW drivers don’t use the turn signals….😂😂
Its that hood music 😂😂
Happy Birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉 @Ray , from the Netherlands
Happy Leveling Up Day Rainman Ray!
That tape is bound to last longer than the intake!
I wonder if, in cases where the parts are not remotely available, if there is a heat-shrink option, or maybe a way to use something like Flex Seal?
@MonkeyJedi99 I'm sure all kinds of patches could be made to work... for a while, at least. Maybe an aftermarket cold air pipe can be had?
good ol E34 absolute classic and dirt cheap in america but expensive af in the UK, very common failure on these engines and the 6 cylinder engine is the intake tubes tend to crack in the flexy bendy part happens all the time and people never ever check it, happens on the E46's aswell SUPER common.
Try in Spain, 6000€ for one with 240000 kms!
@@pprey6599 yeah prices keep going up and people keep parting/breaking them for profits so you just can't find any of them anymore, you see so many of these classics that are MINT just parked for awhile and people pull them apart, my brother owns a 520i which has some serious ECU/EWS issues atm and my dads owned more E28's and E24's than i've been alive and im 25 now so that's alot of cars haha.
Yeah had to replace on my E39 as well
Happy B-day Ray! Mine was the 15th lol. Keep up the great work, I watch you every morning while I'm getting ready to leave for work so Thank you
Happy Birthday Ray, enjoy.
Had a 525 which was the 2.5 liter straight six
The 530 was a deluxe version
Wish I still had the 525
Sorry to see a 530 in such rough condition
E21 E34 E39 ... those were the straight six engine cars BMW forged its reputation. Gone but not forgotten.
all things considered this one is in pretty good condition

I never was a BMW guy, but gotta say - even this old interior looks WAY better finished and built than most of your American cars featured on the channel. And the sound that you hear when closing the doors... Sounds like quality too.
You are a warlock with cars.
I appreciate your channel, SMA, ETCG.
I learn so much from you guys.
I no longer work in the industry, but technique is everything.

Thanks for what you do, school teaching is basic, the field is where you really learn.
I had a '94 530i with a 5-speed about ten years ago. Fun car!
Happy Birthday Ray, or rather by now Happy Belated Birthday. happy birthday Ray have a great day.keep the vids coming.
Hearing the old “doodledoo” phone ringtone really threw me off for a moment and gave me flashbacks to old workplace. At first I thought he must have installed it as a ringtone on his phone, but all became clear :) Funny to see how many of us have some lingering traumatic feelings about that sound.
Ray, Happy (BDAY) I love how you adapt hose pliers to bolt removal devices'!!! You are defiantly a master of your craft.
Happy birthday Ray! Has been a while since I have heard the Do-De-Doos. Good video!

I did not know they made a V8 3.0 litre for these 530s.
I had a 2003 530i with the i6. What a great car.
Loved the way it drove. I still miss it.😢
My old ferd has a 4 inch, corrugated plastic irrigation pipe for intake tubing. Has for many years
Happy late birthday! And on the throttle cable bracket, you did not forget to put it on, you left it off to show the throttle body tighten up to the intake manifold. Another great video by the way.
Happy Birthday ray all the best mate.

I love these old bimmers! I myself own a e34 as well. Beautiful and great cars but with age they need a lot of love (wich they deserve imo).
