    Sri Lanka vs England
So what do you do when there is a young blooming talent named Muthaiya Murlidharan.
Who has an unorthodox balling action,
Can turn the ball like magic
And is sure to take spin balling to new heights?
Well of course, you make the umpires - Darell Hair and Ross Emerson accuse him of chucking the ball and then put him on probation , so that he can't play anymore..
    Obvious isn't it?
But what if then ICC does a comprehensive investigation into his balling action and clear him of all wrong doings?
Well then you decide to complete ignore that and you go ahead and hatch plot involving umpires, media and players to make sure that you destroy that players career....
    Simple....
At least that's what Australian cricket board and umpires tried to do...
    This is the story
Of the plan to destroy this cricket legend.
And the one man - Arjun Ranatunga
    Who Put everything at risk
    To stop it from happening.

All the umpire did (what other umpires were stating in private but too bloody scared to act on) was to call no balls due to his action. Which by the way was why the ICC changed the rule to allow him to continue.
It isn’t the first time an Australian umpire has called someone for an illegal bowling action.
Colin Egar from South Australia called him in a test match against South Africa no balled him for an illegal action in 1963. When Richie Benaud was informed he pulled Meckiff out of the balling attack, no carrying on like a pork chop like Ranatunga, Benaud accepted the call.
If it Murali had a legal action, why did the change the rules.
      Captains behaving badly.
The funny part about this is, the ICC had heard 12 months before that the majority of umpires privately had concerns about his actions, yet the ICC and Sri Lankan cricket did absolutely nothing to address this situation.
Stop blaming the umpire for carrying out the rule correctly! Blame those who sat on their hands and did nothing.

Secondly the Umpire was following the rules of cricket and carried out his duties by informing the captain and the bowler. He had 3 warnings . If the umpire was wrong why did the ICC then change the degree so the bowler was allowed to continue his career.

I recall watching this match and this moment live. Ranatunga was furious as hell and it was clear to whoever was watching that he was not going to take this bullshit. He literally bossed the umps right in the middle of the ground without any care for any political correctness. I was happy when he decided to walk off and the look on the faces of those gobsmacked umps was priceless.

Muralidharan has been a Legend. Aussies knew Murali was going to overtake Shane Warne and they couldn't bear this. Srilankans were such nice guys. Being an Indian just seeing this video my blood boils. and I couldnt imagine how shattered Murali's confidence at that time when these idiot umpires were targeting him like cowards. Down Down Australian Cricket Board. Can't imagine how did ICC tolerate this if at all they had powers.
Hats off and Respect to Ranatunga. He did the right thing by taking on the umpires. That was great in telling those bully Umpires that enough is enough.

Its still fresh on my mind the one day match where the umpire kept giving no ball and stadium shouting chucker in unison. It was too much for Ranatunga and decided to take the team and walk away calling to forfeit the series. I cried that day to see Murli and team humiliated. But after some convincing, SL team came back to the ground and won the one day match. I was so happy on the revenge SL team took and the match was dedicated to Murli.
