  • A movie taken by a British Army Officer of the Royal Engineers who had been posted temporarily to the US equivalent at the Trecom Ground Effects Research dept of the US Transport Command at Fort Eustis, VA around 1962 (probably known as the Langley Air Force Base now). He was based there for at least a year and took some interesting footage on his 8mm movie camera. And he took it in color.
This home movie shot on standard 8mm Kodachrome features a lot of experimental military vehicles and assault techniques (at the beginning).
In it you will see some rare footage of a very early experimental Bell hovercraft (at 3:56), steam and diesel locomotives, hang-gliders, various experimental boats, helicopters, aircraft, and street scenes from around the military installations.
There are a few dull sections so I encourage you to fast-forward through these bits if you wish. Towards the end, there is an intriguing hovercraft-stretcher at about 18:44!
It may drift in and out of focus at various points and you may see me suddenly correct this.
Please subscribe to my channel, I upload all sorts of vintage footage from around the World.
The same British officer took the footage of the LeTourneau TC-497 overland train that I sent to Mark Moore - so please do check out the footage of that, because it is awesome - • Video
