    Sunday mornings I look forward to my cup of coffee and watching you hunt for treasures. Very impressed with your handmade electrolytic rust removal apparatus. Keep scooping!

    Hi Scoopy Joe, Vinegar works quite well also, Cheers Mate👍👍👍😎💨🏴‍☠☮☮☕☕🔧💡🌈

      Thanks, I tried vinegar first but the rust was far too thick, would have taken many days of soaking. The electrolysis only took minutes!

    A LIVE bullet?!! You must have been terrified. 😏😏😏

      lol, just a bit unusual to find on a downtown beach in Vancouver Canada, especially a 9mm since handguns are banned.

    Loonies and toonies generally sound good on the legend too, my legend speaker recently blown out, its a known defect, kinda like the coil ears on the equinox, they will fix it under warrenty, but I have to pay shipping there

      Yeah I'm glad they're easier to find now, sometimes on the Nox they barely register! Sorry to hear about your Legend.

    Congrats on the sver, i found an old coin on friday, a 1937 british three pence, its nickel brass, which is mostly copper with some zinc and a tiny bit of nickel, i dont know why they dont call it zinc brass instead, on numista it says in g condition its worth $0.39 and is a mintage of 45.7 million

      Nice! What's the oldest you've found?

    • @digginggopher
      @digginggopher Před 3 měsíci

      @@ScoopyJoe the oldest coin I found, both coin roll hunting and metal detecting were both 1913 coincidentally
      Metal detecting I found a 1913 large cent
      Coin roll hunting I found a 1913 buffalo nickel in great shape in a collection dump of king George the fifth nickels, that buffalo nickel is about a $20 coin, I could probably get $20 for it easy as it's first year and in great shape, even has some nice toning imo

    I was watching a video of yours called almost got kicked out, and wanted to let you know that you can go to your local parks and recreation, and ask them to give you a list of all the local parks in your city, and they will give it to you. I did that and got to speak with the main person of all the parks, and gave me his personal card, and told me that if anyone should come to me about me not being able to metal detect, to show them his card, and that would get them out of my hair.

    • @ScoopyJoe
      @ScoopyJoe  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks for the advice, I have called the parks department before to confirm metal detecting is allowed at least, I don't think our parks employees are quite as accessible in our big city but it's worth a shot!

    friend a question, with that manticore have you seen difference with respect to the equinox900 ? 800. and how deep can you add a gold ring ? can you define its stability in wet sand and in the water thank you I await your comment.

    • @ScoopyJoe
      @ScoopyJoe  Před 3 měsíci +1

      So I upgraded to the Equinox 900 about 6 months ago, the difference was noticeable from the 600 I'd been swinging for the past 3 years, definitely more stable at very high sensitivity in our mineralized beaches and high EMI areas, interestingly it seemed a little harder to decipher the target IDs, the wider range seems to grab more VDI numbers from common targets like pulltabs and bottlecaps. I haven't done any deliberate depth tests yet, just based on what I have found with it so far. I'll bring some small gold with me the next time I go to the beach.
      The Manticore in comparison feels like a Sports Car, initially quite intimidating to use and to the uninitiated it might actually seem worse in some ways than the Equinox: The increased 'power' and depth can be a curse on trashy beaches as I was grabbing tiny pieces of foil a foot down easily on the regular. But it also found a very deep silver ring in an area I'd been over many times (the ring had clearly been there for a while as it was tangled in plant roots and was about 9 inches down. The next time out I found a silver coin about a foot deep. Also, the Manticore hits much louder on Canadian clad coins than the Equinox, I found a toonie amongst the trashiest part of the beach that I would have almost certainly missed with either Equinox. The algorithm seems faster, and it seems to work great even with a low recovery speed for increased depth.
      The 2D screen is also really fun, I expect in the soil it will be very useful!
      Once I got used to it on the beach, I was running almost exclusively on the Beach Deep mode with very high sensitivity, the prospecting tones are really nice when you're digging everything. I have yet to try it on soil or totlots, but I just got the 8 inch coil so I'm eager to give it a go very soon.
      Overall, had I remained with the 900 I'm sure I would have been very happy, as I was already very happy with the 600. The Manticore was a treat to myself during the latest sale, with each upgrade I could definitely feel a performance increase.
      One final thought - the only thing on the manticore I actually really don't like, is the colour LCD screen that requires being backlit to use. I prefer running without a backlight during the day, both to save battery and I found the old style retroreflective monochrome LCD easier to see in the bright sun. It's a small gripe and I'll get over it, but not everything needs a colour LCD screen these days...

      @@ScoopyJoe thank you for your kind answer is very educational as to the operation of the equipment and real experiences of treasure hunters, the manticor in short is a sports car with the defect of the screen light that bothers the view. with respect to the depth and quality way I already have it clear it is a very powerful machine thank you very much.

    Does the manticore make the same frequency shift noise as the nox like your intro?

    • @ScoopyJoe
      @ScoopyJoe  Před 3 měsíci

      I think the noise cancel sound effect is slightly different, I'll have to record a new one!
