Weber is 230 so that's 55 lbs difference.
It's the sticks today that allow these players to shoot hard. With the flex of the sticks I whips off harder into the net compared to a wood stick and to think Al put a shot of 100.4 with a wood twig at 56 years!
@@jasonjolin9904 lol no he didn't. The gun was set to 100.4 mph because that was his hardest shot he ever hit in his career back in 1998, and that was the mph to beat for today's competition. His shot today was probably around 70-80. Still amazing for an old geezer.

Petey’s shot is 3 mph faster than last year at the Canucks skills contest. Man he’s gonna be insane in another few years if he keeps working on it and getting stronger

He worked on his shot the summer after he got drafted. He said it in an interview during his SHL season where he blew everyone away with his rocket.
Petey's 102.4 mph shot is the 2nd hardest shot of any forward in the history of all star skill competitions only behind Stamkos's 103.9 in 2016. What a player.

And remember Zdeno Chara holds the Guinness world record for hardest slap shot at 108.8 mph and people still try to block his slap shots.

I was at a game when he was on the Preds where they played Anaheim. Weber blasted one from the point and it boinked off the mask/helmet of the goaltender. He was laying in the ice for about 3 minutes then sat out the rest of that period.

Has nothing to do with weight, he understands optimal shooting form to get the most out of the stick. At 17 I was only 155lbs and was shooting very VERY hard shots for my weight at the time because I knew I needed to compensate for not being a heavier player
He has very good slap shot motion that basically has zero waste in energy.. But sometimes people with bigger muscles overcome inefficient technique or they just have the combination of the two.. ie weber..
Its not about weight its about the wind up and follow through.
@@lAmCanad1an f= ma so weight can play a factor in shot power. He has a more efficient motion. If a bigger guy had the same technique they would shoot harder.

Crazy how hard Petey shot is for a player of his size
It is impressive, but his technique is very good, and technique matters when taking a slap-shot. Sometimes, your smaller, lighter guys can be sneaky strong, too. And he probably has off-the-charts reflexes, too, which also helps. But the smaller, lighter guys can get it done. I was one of the smaller guys - 5'10" and maybe 160lbs. - on my high-school team, but had one of the hardest shots. In fact, that's one of the reasons the coach kept me on the team, because I could blast it from the point and help out on the power play. But yeah, when Pettersen gets his "man muscles" in another few seasons, he's going to be a monster.

The hardest shot ever was just recorded last weekend at the AHL Allstars Competition in Ontario, CA. MARTIN FRK took a 109.2 mph clapper that beat both the NHL and the AHL's hardest shot records!

I played goalie in college and there were a few people in the league that would make anxious when they started winding up. I could not imagine taking shots from these guys!
MacInnis shot was truly legendary. He broke the glass, broke the boards, he even broke a goalie's HAND in a game. It wasn't just fast, it was hard and heavy. No one will ever top him.
That doesn't make sense, the only metric the puck has it's it's velocity. Harder and heavier are symptoms of the pucks speed and nothing else since they are all the same mass.

Seeing as it's one of the most popular and exciting events, I would have to agree. I believe the issue becomes utilizing these players in other events like the shootouts and such. I.e., what was Weber's scoring % during the goalie competition and the "no-hit" 3v3 games don't cater to these larger players.

An NHL snapshot is something to behold, but what's even more mental is how some pitchers can reach 100 mph with their bare hand.
Seems to me I remember Denis Hull and Bobby Hull had shots at 110 mph.
Bobby Hull fastest was 120.4 and Dennis Hull fastest was 112.6. Both at the CNE in Toronto in 1967.
