Beautiful detailed, and honest review.
Glad you liked it!
Speed limit isn’t 31mph. It’s 34~35mph. Tap the INMOTION logo 5 times in settings then scroll down to fancy mode and it unlocks it. It sounds like a joke, but that’s really how it’s done.
Say what! you the man.....you will get a mention in the next video. (There is actually no InMotion logo in the settings menu..but I tried just hitting the text saying 'Features' 5 times and it worked), what an easter egg! Now to test.
@@Speedyfeetuk Ah yes, my mistake. I wrote it off the cuff and forgot what the word at the top is considering we sorted it out on a friend’s V11. Love your reviews and would certainly love to see an update with the unlock.
Does V10/V10F have this as well?
looking forward to a big yeet shoutout haha
Thank you so much I just got my V11 and was looking for this trick. U da man!!
That 80’s aerobic workout music tough, lol.
Ronnie Dylan ha ha, everyone loves everyone’s music right? Gotta love a bit of synth 😂
Speedy Feet UK reminded me of tron. Fitting music for a mono wheel
The v11 comes with a free air guitar and a rainbow wig
Dude, your videos are by far the most detailed and you are very knowledgeable.
Keep these vids coming
Cheers!
Hi Ian, I think this was the best review I've seen on the V 11 yet, and it was great seeing Sonic the Hedgehog in motion!
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks for the encouragement, its always hard pointing out issues on the 'big screen' as it were, but got to be open and honest!
Spot on review. It is a smooth and quiet riding wheel. The tall stance takes a little while to get use to. Once you do it's like second nature. Thanks Ian.👍
Cheers!
A tip for the headlight issue is to set the angle of the wheel to negative 2 or 3. It helps but still needs to be fixed.
Perfect timing. As i wait for FedEx.... love The Music ;);)
80's baby ha ha
On my V11 the saddle screw holes broke within the first few days but I'm in no rush to get it fixed because they have zero effect on the performance of the wheel. My only "complaint" would be my tire wasn't perfectly centered in the wheel well when I got it; looking down at it, it appears to be an 1/8th" to the left lol oh well I was worried at first but it turns out to ride just beautiful. Amazing wheel!!!!! I LOVE it!!!
Glad you are loving the V11! Super smooth on the road.
Liked before I even watched the vid because I know it'd be a goodie
lol fair play.
great review....your the first to point out the headlight issue....at least as far as i have seen.....thank you for your honesty....
Glad it was helpful! Spent some time testing it and playing with it to make sure where and why its like it is. Again, its in pitch black that its most apparent, with street lighting don't really notice.
@@Speedyfeetuk very good to be aware of....these cost a bit of money so the better you're informed....
I love this wheel. Im glad I bought this one...
Yay!
The wait makes this feel like a christmas episode. Thanks Ian!
Which wheel/suspension do you prefer for off-roading this or s18? And how does it do with jumps/ramps vs s18
I prefer the V11 suspension for on road and offroad BUT of course the KS-S18 does have the ability to allow you to customise easily by swaping out the unit (also easier to service in terms of swapping out)
Best wheel ive ever ridden. I love the suspension - its like a magic carpet. The new hollow motors from Inmotion and Gotway - have bad bearings so water is creating rust and friction. Upgrading bearings is a lot of work . I hope the problem is solved now.
Let us know how it goes!
I’m getting one of these as so as I decide to spend the money. I think is just what I need. My V8f is great but the bigger wheel and range w/suspension and better lighting will do good for me.
Thumbs up for the music choice! =D
lol, glad you like it...a little different!
The 80's tunage is what makes this a proper wicked review. Haha
lol
Excellent review Ian, that head light is a thing of beauty, but at the same time I can see from your video, it could be dangerous as well, it definitely needs some attention to keep it level at all times, as for power pads I must say I've thought of this idea the moment I saw the V11 for the 1st time.
If you stand back & look at that saddle design especially the outter perimeters that would be in front & behind your legs with you standing in the middle, one could get some thick 1/4" eva foam and cut 4 shapes that match those outside edges, kinda on an angle or V shape, from the top of the saddle down to where the saddle becomes straight, where your Shins and knees would rest while riding. Build up 1 or 2 layers of foam forward & behind where your legs would be, leaving the middle section untouched for the rider to channel their legs in between, as for the eva foam you would want high density eva foam, some hardware stores, like harbor freight sell foam matting for shop floors that fit together like puzzle pcs this is the foam Im talking about, its thick and can withstand pressure, & I think would work perfect for this application. My tip would be to use double side film tape for the 1st layer on the saddle, but if you want to double that I suggest contact cement when foam is against foam, but it also a good rule of thumb to sand flat any Eva foam that may have a raised pattern in the foam this just ensures a strong bond between the 2 layers of foam. I believe with a little finesse & attention to detail this could really make the V11 look great & move with you instead of getting that sliding sensation when you lean. Anyway Ian I hope this helps any followers out there if not your self. 😜👍👍🍻
Good idea Jack! I think InMotion are preparing a pad to go on it also, not sure on ETA.
@@Speedyfeetuk As long as Im thinking, I'll always try to help. 😜👍
Thanks Ian.
Best reviews out there. A great resource for anyone in the market for a new wheel.....like me.

@@Speedyfeetuk im riding a ninebot one s2. Im 2 months into this world, and im totally addicted.....i want a sherman, its that simple really. 😆
I'd love a V11 without the suspension. It's one of the first EUCs that looks like it's designed to be a legitimate road vehicle (those lights!!), but the suspension is just a faff to maintain, especially without many professional repair shops. I'd be quite concerned about maintenance a year or two down the line.
Just make 0 psi and lock suspension.
The advice InMotion gave for chargers is true of all charges, not just theirs. You should never mix and match chargers, you should always use chargers that have the same voltage and amperage as your factory charger. The reason that you can't just add the amps together is that you have no idea whether they have connected them in series or in parallel or even setup to independently charge each battery pack separately.
When the wiring is unknown this is certainly advisable and good practice.
So I never saw anything online about this wheel. Just ordered mine 2 weeks ago, and out of the box everytime i stop it says please repair and starts to tilt forward or backward. Turn off cycle and I have to go into the app hit calibraite the battery and turn back on. They did get to me about 4 days later after my first email. And did try to get it fixed over net. But no luck yet. 5-29-22
First E wheel, love it. Really fun to learn but man my calfs are bruised to hell !
The valve extender works perfectly for adding air to tire, which is why it is included with wheel I think.
It does..but oddly is not actually needed as its accessible without, but hey ho who can complain about a ‘freebie’ 😃
29:15 "how annoying are speed alarms!". LMAO. Well said! I just removed the beeper from my S18... reassembling with replaced bat-packs. :D
Seems like the pedal sensitivity needs to be adjusted to bring the light up. Maybe?
It's was a long time coming but none the less great review 👍🏾
Cheers!
Thanks for that Ian some really useful information for an EUC noob like me. My wheel comes tomorrow and im like a kid again on Xmas eve.. Just hope the missus never finds out how much this new chapter in my life costs. As far as shes concerned its time for a pipe and slippers for me..lol not time to start flying around on some new fangled device from China which the kids in NY are ridin , but mostly cant afford. Cant wait to get started. Hopefully at some point in the future these devices will become as mainstream as bycyles and will reap the financial benefits of mass production. Perhaps then companies like Sony Volkswagon and Tesla may start producing truly polished small electric vehicles. Thanks again Ian.
PS How long for a full charge and any idea when additional chargers will be available? Thanks again Ian.
Enjoy Garry! Take it steady! Re batt from 0% (which you wont get to in reality) approx 6 hours with just 1 charger. Last ~80% is the slow part, of course doubling up essentially halves that. Price not 100% usually around £60-£70 for chargers but will see, these are 2.5amps so might be a little bit more.
About light tilting, well, yeah, of course you have a pedal tilt, and then you have pedal stiffness called in the app sensitivity, when you set 100% you have stiff pedals and light shouldn't dip that much.
Of course I know this, and of course exhaustively went through it all, and reported back the issue. (if it was a simple adjustment within the app to overcome the issue then it wouldn't really be an issue) Sadly there is no work around except a helmet light.
OMG What is that first track? It's the most 80's montage of all 80's montage tracks I've ever heard!
Lol, tell me about it, lush! Ha ha
Excellent review. Totally honest and really comprehensive. Great one 👍
Glad you liked it!
As always very good info, thx for great videos Ian. It seems you need to bring a handheld flashlight when you ride at night. Its a beautifull wheel.
Yeah a head torch is a good idea (probably with anywheel really as who doesnt want an even clearer view of the road!)
As well as speed alarms they should send vibrations to your phone for you to feel. And especially as i wear airpods within my helmet i can never hear alarms. just have to go off experience and how fast i think im going. Maybe allowing it yo ping through earphone as well could be useful.
Thanks for the great video, any tips on transporting it on overground trains-seems like it would just tip over. Was hoping to commute with it
Nice and thorough! Sounds like a great wheel overall. Definitely considering this. 🤔😁
It could be the one for you, you never know!
Speedy Feet UK. Of all the wheels out there it’s ticking the most boxes. Will you stock the Inmotion power pads they are making for it? Although the power pad scene isn’t really my thing, the pics of the V11 with them on looks the business!
I attached a coast head lamp to my helmet as my head light. I'm gonna be the biggest on the road when this thing comes
Yeah thats a must really for the clearest riding - in pitch black.
Mine says that the application is already in the last update, but it has the battery bars accessing and battery accessing too, but it does not stabilize, it connects normally with the app but there is no more update! Very thanks!
It was stabilising before?
Really enjoyed that Ian (especially liked the 80s movie soundtrack).
I get that this is a really good all round ‘Monowheel’ but I just can’t get past the look of a horse harness. 🥴
All individuals preferences, but I like the look of a square shell with a bit of wheel poking out Msp/Monster/Sherman
Have a good weekend.
Glad you enjoyed it. Lol horse saddle, never thought of that...but now cant see anything else lol.
Speedy Feet UK 😂🤣 ooops sorry ☺️
Been waiting for his review. Looks great! I wanna get one of these ordered...... but looks like stock wont be in for ages :(
We have them on their way, will open up pre orders nearer to the time :)
@@Speedyfeetuk Great news. I'm on it the moment they are available
Ian did you try adjusting the pedal angle slightly in the app to adjust your light angle at night?
Yeah calibration change, but then its leaning back to far when riding on flat (and also raises it a little to high for on coming traffic). Its fine if just riding along on the flat, but initial acceleration and then for a very prolonged period of time (as shown in video) its just impossible to see anything (in pitch black road environment)
@@Speedyfeetuk Interesting, I have not noticed that behavior BUT my night riding has been limited and it has not been pitch black.
Duf yeah thats the key perfect storm thing really A. Pitch black B. Hard acceleration (leading to extremely slow return to ‘level’)
Wheels need a vibration motor inside the foot peg or shell instead of a buzzer for speed alarm imo.
Yeah and/or actually just a quick to view display showing what you speed is - like when you monitor your speed in a car.
@@Speedyfeetuk They made a watch didn't they? Wondering how well this actually works.
That music took me straight back to the 80´s. :-D Love that wheel - lot of good ones to choose from now. Should have been a red light on top, that could warn the driver of speed in addition of beeps. Perhaps mentioned - didnt have the time to watch the whole video when watching this. :-)
Yeah the options are huge now!
9:49 You're not suppose to use charger with different outputs of voltage. That's all. For example don't use the standard 2.5v + 5v.
Correct, I requested they should include something in the user manual, so the user has some idea, rather than being left to guess.
Great Review, thanks for this :)
No problem!
What is the lifespan of the battery ?
Someone told me that you only get about 4y out a battery ! ? ? !
A lot of money for 4y use ! As replacing the battery is also very expensive.
25 miles! 😢 I thought Marty got a lot more on his V11 range test. I sense a lack of 'pumpedness' from Ian for this wheel. For me, the only new wheel that has come out this year that's remarkable, is the Sherman. I had high hopes for this one but again range lets it down, same for the S18 and RS.
The milage is about right for the WH of the wheel (it sits inline with all the other range tests). The important factors were detailed in the vid, but the 2 biggies are rider weight and speed. In our tests we smash it to see the minimum (no point in reporting the maximum really....as it would require riding around at 10mph on the flat to get 60 miles out of it). 100% will do a lot more than 25 miles...at a more normal pace and under normal conditions.
@@Speedyfeetuk 2200W motor with 1420Wh battery. For me personally, I'd sooner have a lower Wh motor that delivers less torque but provides more range. My average riding speed is 30-32 KM/h so, 19-20 MPH at 95KG on a 1600Wh 2000W MSX. Torque and top speed a plenty. 60KM+ range. No suspension of course, but see why I'm disappointed. This wheel was top of my shopping list for a medium weight wheel. I'd be really interested to learn how much range you get at 20 MPH cruising speed.
No time to dedicate to doing max range reviews as such, but would make an educated guess and say if I was 75kg and went 15mph average on relatively flat ground rather than hilly. I would be getting close to the 50 mile mark with the V11's 1500wh battery pack.
@@Speedyfeetuk I 100% agree with finding the MINIMUM range first before considering doing a slower less practical test
@Speedy Feet. Thanks for this great review.
What batch of V11 did you test? was it 1st or 2nd?, also did any of the plastic screw mounts under the saddle crack during your test?.
You too have done an excellent review
Cheers dude.
Torque?
battery/power ratio?
Waterproofing?
My charger only goes green. I plug it into the wheel and the battery icon comes up but the light stays green and the wheels percentage won’t go up. Any ideas?
Thanks Ian! 👍😎
Any time!
My charger also seem to have blown except it's not charging at all. Anyone else had this issue?
We have not had this issue since apart from mine in the video.
Isn't the play you mention just the (shockingly high) tolerance of the suspension vs. the main frame?
Apart from that, I had some play in my V8, but this turned out to be something serious: a broken weld between the axle and the motor (there are a number of pictures showing the issue in the various forums). Sounded like this: czcams.com/video/lGfO2kKzqao/video.html
I doubt this is the same here. On my V8 the issue could just be heard when it was powered on.
The play is between the 'pillars' where it slides up and down.
They just need to make a unicycle with the specs of the Sherman and the suspension of this wheel, even if it is super expensive, people would absolutely love that, I know I would at least, I can’t actually go top speed of my Sherman because when going that fast, any bump that you aren’t prepared for will knock you off, and trust me, it’s not nice falling of at any speeds above 20mph, already broke my collarbone and my arm
Yup, go fast and you pay the price the moment something goes wrong!
Gave it permission and now it keeps saying unknown error
14:45 all wheels have this move, IM said it's normal. After mine 500km it's OK, so yeah, that's how it supposed to be.
Thanks so much
No problem!
Torque va msp....is it nimble as v10f? Love the aestetice..but they have to polish it further..
Thanks for the great review! Given all the pros and cons of both the Inmotion V11 and the Veteran Sherman, now that you've tried both wheels quite extensively, if you could only choose one, which would you buy? I keep going back and forth between the two
I would go Sherman, because it fits my usage really well. Doing a 20 mile ride, coming back and then later on popping back out for another 20 miler is totally doable (and if you really wanted to you could do 40 miler, come back, pop back out and do a 20 miler no problem!). It wins in almost all categories aside from weight and price.
V11 though feels like the more 'government freindly' option and I have been having a blast on it for sure, it does have some sticking points as I outlined, but those are minor when the entire ride is taken into account.
@@Speedyfeetuk Thank you very much for the feedback, it was very helpful. I ended up pre-ordering the Sherman :)
love this, thanks so much man
Glad you like it!
Pop on over to www.ElectricPeople.org as well and join the community!
How is the durability of this one? I'm new and for sure I'll crash
Thanks Ian for your review. Where would you suggest putting protection pads? And can you comment on pedal stiffness called in the app sensitivity?
Cheers John. Protection pads - temporary ones you mean for learning or permanent?
Footplate stiffness is set in the ride modes in the APP. Commute mode is too soft for my liking, so have it set in off-road mode for a stiffer more responsive ride.
@@Speedyfeetuk Thanks for your reply. Re: Protection pads - until Roll.NZ makes a body guard (assuming they will), just areas to protect from scratches if it falls.
I accidentally beeped a horn the other day, does anyone know how to do it on purpose?
Swipe up I think (or down) on the main app screen
kick ass review
Thanks!
2 things. Speaker volume gets loud if you want and Kali Invader 🙂
With mine it doesn't change the warning alarm, does it on yours? Kali Invader, love it, but do find at speed it catches the wind quite a bit and ends with being able to hear less than the fully enclose Kali Carbon Pulse (although the invader is great as its super light and cool in summer)
@@Speedyfeetuk ah. I didn't try the full enclosure yet, and haven't found another rider work them that tried the Invader 🙂. I'll take your word for it.
I need to try the alarms more. Found the speaker setting very late in my 76km ride after accidently finding the horn 😂.
Very happy with it so far though. Glad I held out on waiting for it.
Lol the horn can take you by surprise for sure. Trouble with increasing the volume is that it also adjust the power on/powerdown/all other noises as well
Hi Ian
How did it feel with the suspension going off road over roots etc. compared to the Sherman and compared to msx/msp?
With it setup correctly it was lush, takes the bumps like a champ with that level of travel. As you would expect, less impact travelling up through the legs, of course the extra height has a fine control affect, but after 500km got it pretty dialled in.
Checkout www.ElectricPeople.org if you haven't already!
I keep seeing how it lacks in performance. Think I will notice a performance upgrade from my ks18L?
See latest video just uploaded.....
You can't call it a head-up display if you have to look down to see it :)
Depends on what your usual viewpoint is. For those always crashing it can be a HUD ha ha
Ian, do you mind splitting the music video part at about 11 minutes into a separate video? I would like to be able to send just that link to my buddies.

*They should have produced a stronger model than v10f before making suspension model. For example kingsong has s18 after 16x.And v10f has no chance against 16x.*
A V11 with not suspension option perhaps!
Is the bearing issue fixed on these yet?
Excellent 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
hello, can you tell if I can work using this unicycle making deliveries in London?
People do, its certainly a grey area here in the UK though.
I'm surprised u don't have a Bluetooth solution so your app can beep your alarm in your ear and listen to tunes while u ride
Yeah would be good. As standard not something it does sadly!
@@Speedyfeetuk get a cardo freecom for helmet it's awesome!
Finally
Ikr
you could use a torch in that situation.
Yeah its a good hack to get around the issues (you just need to remember to have one on you).
Build it on your helmet? Then it’s always there.
The headlight issue seems pretty dramatic. How do other wheels handle this? How about the S18? The physical facts behind this must apply to all of them - blind others while cruising, or see nothing while accelerating. How can others do better here?
You don't seem to be worried about the range figure, despite it's only 1/3 of the specification. Does this mean other wheels don't do any better? My V8 does reach its specified 30km easily with lots of Vmax, that's why I'm confused.
"The headlight issue seems pretty dramatic. How do other wheels handle this?" < The other wheels I ride do not show this characteristic, for example the RS I have just done the video on - no such issue, the beam is fixed slightly more upwards and wide. I wouldn't have mentioned it if it was just normal (mainly because I wouldn't have even noticed as it would have been normal). Certainly is an odd one. (Nowhere near as noticeable when there is other lighting around, such as street lighting and cars etc).
Range, seems about right for all the other wheels we ride in our range tests. 1500wh giving ~25 miles. The RS we did the range test with just, it got ~30miles with 1800wh for example. Monsters we used on the 1000miler were getting ~55 miles (2400wh). Lots of variables to take into account, machine weight, rider weight and average speed as mentioned in the video. I think I could get 50 miles out of the V11 if average speed was 15mph instead of 25mph and I was 75kg.
@@Speedyfeetuk If you rode the sherman at the same speed, weight, and on the same terrain, how much more range would you get? For this ride specifically where you got 25 on the v11
@@Speedyfeetuk of course I believe you that the headlight issue isn't there elsewhere, but I don't understand why. Is it the combination of sharp edges of the cone of light, plus the extreme brightness? Or do the others blind the oncoming traffic when the tilt angle is on cruising?
I'm asking because the headlight is one of the reasons I was so much looking forward to the V11. So this seems to be quite a downer.

@@richmond411 I think the others may be a higher fixed beam yeah, from what I have seen, also combined with how bright it illuminates the ground in front, it washes it out (over exposes the ground in front) and the bounce back glare hinders your eyes (again: only in the pitch black environments)

25:15 I wasn't sure at the street, but here, that's how the sus should work, you have found your numbers ;] Sadly, most people set it badly, don't spend time to tweak values and later on even record reviews about V11 ;/
Yeah requires some setup, once done for your weight its so smooth.
Great review as always Ian, while these suspension wheels are great for protecting the knees and back the downside of them is is the extra weight and the fact that they are so fragile when crashed. This is particularly the case with the inmotion v11. See Hsiang's video, his v11 was completely destroyed after one crash. Suspension unicycles may well be the future but the development of them has a long way yet to go.
Mines didn't last a try and shuts off
I totally agree about the power pads. I totally disagree about accelerating slower and not being such an idiot. I bought the thing to be an idiot!!
🤣
I can confirm Inmotion have poor chargers since V5F. Really bad soldering, had to fix it myself (piece of cake, but not for everyone).
Not had issues with their chargers in terms of warranty claims (as in we have had a couple over the last year or so). Nothing major. And the replacement charger has been working fine so far.
