If you had it in four wheel drive it might help 🤔
Can't believe I'm here 10 years after the filming of this video, and it is still great entertainment ! 🎅😁 and a bonus, this video is 1080p 🎅✅
I guess that I'm here 12 years later.
Wow this one is a oldie but a goodie
I like your videos. I know the subject was the blade, but here are a few plowing suggestions and answers to other’s questions: 1) for gravel I turn the blade around and plow with the convex side (basically backwards). 2) in terms of efficiency, several long runs is much quicker than many short ones. For example, I would have plowed most of the lot in long passes, then would only have to clean up a little along the edges. 3) I like to always keep the blade angled a bit to reduce or eliminate the spill over that needs to be cleaned up with more passes. 4) it’s easier to pull the blade traveling forward than pushing it backwards, but when going backwards the snow doesn’t push the tractor sideways nearly as much.
You could do a whole lot more going forward (which is faster) if you don't try to move the whole pile at once. Sometimes you need to make a lane to roll your pile to before you can move it. Try moving 20 feet at a time, even if you have to start near the outside of the lot. Try a spiral if you have to, starting from the edges of the lot. It has worked for me...and try to minimize backing up so much. You don't make money when you are not moving snow.
what are you using to keep the 3pt legs from trying to spread out with the pressure of pushin backwards ?
I like the rear blade because the loader is still available at all times. Have also read that loader mounted blade can make steering a nightmare on small tractors (my 26 hp NH is quite a bit smaller than the tractor in this video.) I had the optional shoes put on my rear blade, I think they help a bit when working on our gravel road / driveway here. As the video shows, the rear blade works a lot better if you can get out there and plow before you get more than 4 inches or so at a time..
A blade on the front can do some damage to your loader if you hit something solid
I ordered the 50" blade for my Cub Cadet. (MTD) 5264D today. :)
It's going to be so much nicer than the 48" box blade. Hahaha
I'm hoping I'll be able to offset and angle the rear blade enough to catch the windrow from one side of the loader and clear 6+ feet in a single pass.
If it gets here Friday as expected there will be a video or two posted up for sure.
Thinking about a set of chains too... the 4x4 is nice, but there's going to be a lot more drag now.
I'm feeling like a kid who KNOWS he's getting exactly what he wants for Christmas. & just has to wait a few more days.
If you take about half of the blade on each swipe you can do a lot more work with the same size Tractor.I use the same blade on my Ferguson Tea20.I live in Burridge,Ontario .We have around 200cm or 2-1/2 feet .Thanks Greg
200cm =6 1/2 feet
thats ok if you dont have a lot of snow i got a back blade 3 1/2 to 4 ft. high plus to get your wheels not to spin as much put chains on the rear wheels and use your diff.lock and when you get a little bit of snow behind your blade lift it about an inch off the ground and keep plowing.
JUst raise the blade swing out knock edge over then drop blade and do again on straight runs no need to keep backing up
If you don't over fill the box blade with snow it will be fine, most people that scrape snow like the 45 degree angle of a snow blade so you don't have to dump it out, but many folks do it with a box blade also.
Asphalt or concrete is easy, show people how to scrape a gravel driveway.
Amen. Having a gravel driveway, I can vouche that it’s different for sure.
@@ThatBaggedWK2 PVC pipe, rip down one side with a circular saw and slide over the cutting edge, I can plow my 230meter gravel drive way 16feet wide in under 10minutes.
@@timberray9572 genius
If you just push with the back of the blade it will not catch and hart your blade. You will leave some snow but when you go forward you will clean it up. If you are on a stone driveway you will not dig up as mush stone. If you work the tractor you can plow a lot more snow. I plow 2Feet with a rear blade on 8N ono water in the tires just chain
this works the first time , once you do it multiple times , the banks get bigger and bigger until you have nowhere to pile it .
a blower is much better take it from me !
Down here in the south a blower is waste of money. 1 or 2 snows per year just ain't worth the expense.
my father plowed with a straight blade and a 2wd ford 8n for years - learn to feather it and stack it
You should make a blade specific for snow to where you can put snow shoes on the ends of both sides and also can you make the cutting edge to where itll trip like a western v blade or does western have a patent on that. Theres a few things I think you could add to make it a snow blade specific I'd buy one.
We do not have a trip, and I do not know of a 3pt blade with trip, but we do offer shoes for our EA Xtreme scrape, found here www.everythingattachments.com/Tractor-Rear-Scrape-Blades-p/eta-xd-sblade-.htm
Great Video . I Have 2 Questions. 1) Driving Through the Snow, Plowing with the Blade FOWARD is Better than Driving in reverse with the Blade Backwwards? 2) No Chains? If there was 1/2 inch of Ice under that Snow I doubt if that tractor would do a good job at all??? Appreciate Your Advice on, the Right way to approach plowing with a Grader Blade.
Thanks, sir. Conditions really determine which approach is better. With our generally light, and/or wet snow, we can move forward with an angled blade and it sheds it to the side efficiently. If the show is heavier/deeper, this may not be the case, so you'd need to push it backwards. Yeah, chains are useful, needed additions in locations further north, which experience much more snow than our milder NC winters usually bring. We may get a couple of snows a year like the one shown in the video and, if unplowed, it usually disappears in a couple of days anyway! Thanks for watching and commenting!
great video, thanks. what about a good snow plow for an 4x4 ATV?
@IShredBMBWOhio That's why a lot of people turn the blade 180 and push with it when snow gets that deep. If Ted had some wheel weights, slowed down just a little bit, and had taken smaller "bites" once he had a windrow built up it wouldn't have slid him around as bad.
I'm a tractor newbie and have quickly discovered that the 6ft back blade that came with the tractor isn't wide enough to do anything but clean the snow behind the tractor and and a few inches more (when it's straight). When it's angled, it won't even clean the width of the tractor tires. So this means that the only way to plow the snow to the edge of the shoulder is to drive the tractor along the edge of the shoulder/ditch, right through the stuff I've already plowed. This is not efficient and when I go over the stuff I've just plowed, it's too much snow for the blade and it doesn't do a good job. Either I'm doing something wrong, or this isn't the right tool for the job. I usually plow when it's at least 4" deep.
@EverythingAttachment Good to hear that they are showing intrest in the system.
Which storm was this shot during the one last weekend or the one just before Christmas? My cousin goes to Davidson(sp?) college and she and a friend were stuck on the interstate for 42 hours during that event.
See you on lawnsite.
If i use an old case ih magnum that weights 15,000 lbs you think it will slide sideways pulling one of these blades in snow?
My neighbor bought one of this blades. They are not for medium or heavy duty use. The metal is soft and bends very easily. Woods is a much better blade and costs less.
Ted - how much are your replacement blades? I need an 84" (83'1/2" actual) 9 nine hole blade. Thank you! Great video!
If you give our parts dept a call at 866-581-5818, the guys will surely be glad to assist. Thanks for watching!
@@EverythingAttachments - sorry, Ted! I didn't see you post back to me! I will do that! Thank You!!
do they make snow blower attachments for the smaller tractors like that one?
My parents don't think we need one. We have 4 acres here, and 5 acres of farm land elsewhere...
Saving up to buy a cheap farmall cub or something. At least I got them to buy me a nice diesel truck. :)
How would a blade like that go attached to a skid steer quick attach mount? Plow blade with no springs on the front pushing, if that hit something it’d tear it up right? Someone else must have had the idea to put one on the front and see how it handles
Do you use draft control to stop the scraper from digging in, or do you just set the height with the lift control?
HEY TED NICE LIL KUBOTA YOU GOT THERE HOW MUCH HP DOES IT HAVE, CAUSE IVE GOT THE NEW HOLLAND 30 HP AND I LOVE IT! I DONT EVEN USE MY LAWNMOWER ANYMORE LOL.
Her in Norway we have to put on chains when the snow comes, becouse or else we had just spin rigth forward and had no chance to steer the tractor. Arent you using chains at all ? if you do not i would recomend it. Ola
This video was made for people like me that aren't lucky enough to have a tractor at all. *drool*
I'm on board with @nativegun - how do these blades work on a gravel driveway?
They do fine on gravel, but sometimes skid shoes or something to keep the edge from digging in is preferred. Our Xtreme blade is offered with skid shoes. Another idea to keep the blade from digging in is to cut sections of pipe lengthwise and slip it over the cutting edge in a few spots. Guys have been doing that for years. Check out our current scrape blade selection here: www.everythingattachments.com/Rear-Grader-Blades-s/90.htm
@ 7:10, Is that a Toyota is the back ground? Looks like a hell of a lot like a troopy. Didnt think you yanks got those!
Do you need 4 wheel drive to scrape snow?
How rough are these blades on cement or aggregate?
urgentcareguy3 o,
Is there a blade that i can offset and still be small enough for a scut?
Check out our line of Value scrape blades, they are for smaller tractors and go down to a 60 inch width. Call or email for sizing.
who is the music and artist in the intro of your video, please.
@topfireman They do make them, check out Frontier, farm king, there are others just do a google search or check out ebay. Not trying to take away Ted's buisness or anything.
Hey Ted, any more news on how your brakeing system is doing in the market, aside from the deal with Bad Boy?
That guy needs to learn how to drive a tractor. When it starts to pull the tractor around, take a smaller bite or ride the brake it keep it going straight.
Exactly what I was thinking.
what happens when warm weather occurs in mid january may i ask i am not being mean or a troll
Put on some shorts and enjoy it😉
I never straight blade when I'm moving snow. Be it pushing or pulling. That way you don't get those pesky little lines as often. I also go as slow as possible. My old Ford 2N gets the job done!
need some turf tires on that thing for the snow
czcams.com/video/Zs2xi434p4I/video.html
A blade that mounts on the loader would give you better traction since your tires would be on the part you've already plowed.
or just turn the blade around and push snow by staying in reverse works better also
its not even in front wheel assist
would rather us the snow thrower and not worry about loading to take somewhere
no you dont but it dos help
If you don't have a 45 series John Deere blade or a woods blade...then you don't have a real blade. I have owned them all and everything else is trash! I bought one of these blades and my 790 John Deere folded it up like a pretzel
