At 42 now, I still remember my childhood being in love with so many important sedans at their brands’ inceptions, especially the earlier Lexus and Acura models, and even once owning a ‘92 ES300 with which I fell in love as a kid when a best friend’s mom bought one off the showroom floor that we often rode in. It’s just so unconscionable that we’re now in a period of sedans actually dying out. I’ve been looking for another ‘92 ES and also considering something else “legendary” to garage and cruise periodically. “What a time to be alive.”

I love this! I’m 42 as well and I still remember the first time i saw the ‘92 ES300; and falling in love with the design. There’s just something about that shape and proportions that has a timeless elegance. No SUV will ever exude the elegance that a sedan has the capability of (in my opinion). Even those “coupe SUVs” don’t hold a candle to the proportions of an elegantly designed sedan. In my opinion, those look even worse - as they look they’re trying to be a sedan but they just look like tall blobs on stilts.

You have the Karens that keep complaining about everything such as they don’t have a flat screen T.V. in their car, they don’t have enough boot space, they want more room in their car, they want better gas mileage, they don’t want to look after their car since its too much work, etc. You have politicians that are killing combustion engines in favor of the stupid green deal plan. Yet they are supporting manufacturing companies in the East that supports human rights abuses and genocide. Until those things die out I have little hope in humanity that we will learn from mistakes that are made in the past and for car guys like us will die because people make stupid decisions.

BUT, Mitsubishi has a PHEV categorized “2-row SUV” coming out in the 2024-2025 timeline in their Mid Term Strategy from last year, so I think we can expect to see a new PHEV Outlander Sport soon. There’s nothing from Mitsubishi about the Mirage so RIP. The Eclipse Cross still has several years more. Outlander might get a performance Ralliart variant with over 300hp this year. And Mitsubishi is going to bring back the Montero/Pajero in 2025. Also, I don’t know whether the Triton is coming stateside, however Nissan is basing their new Navara/Frontier on the Mitsubishi Triton platform, so by then we might see joint production in the US, but that’s a far fetched guess. Case in point, they think every WRX is ugly when it first comes out then they like it years later. It never has enough power even though the WRX objectively has a good power level for its price point.

@@antwontwontwon2378 Thanks for asking for my personal view as a huge fan of Lexus ; The raw truth is drove both the LC weighs over 400lbs more than the RCF TE and is a significantly larger car. Over 400lbs difference is quite astonishing for a performance car. It's the reason it cannot evenly compete with even a IS500 on a track with all due respect to both products. It's a car designed to be the best road car via the way of pure ambience in my view and it does that well. The RCF TE also has far better performance oriented parts for my needs loving the Lexus brand and for me being a duel track GT need the LC was the lesser car. The LC gets gapped by an even a standard RCF pretty bad on track much less the TE at its weight reduction 3781 just isnt possible on a LC being based off the heavier LS chassis. The LC overheats when pushed and weighs to much for my taste and I prefer the mechanical feel of the 8SPD then the smoothness of the 10SPD which in my view numbs the driver feel rather than the head moving 1st,2nd aggressive feel of the 8SPD ( reminds me of a R8V8 R-Tronic. For my use the LC would be a poor choice. Im not concerned with price in this segment just a Lexus fan. The RCF TE is just a better-performing car in every category factually by significant margins. After driving both it was quite obvious that the LC was designed for a different demo and not me coming from M cars. I personally have zero interest in an LC with all due respect and was never impressed with the model and would never buy one in its current form. I much prefer the RCF TE/Fuji model its pedigree and hope the RCFs larger resume success in GT3 racing which dwarfs the LC and even the mighty iconic LFA in terms of wins and sheer number of podiums have proven to Lexus it deserves a newer chassis.

Everything is so expensive nowadays nobody wants to spend unless they get a return on that which just doesn't happen with cars. The supra decline in sales blew me away, must be all the youtubers' complaints about how it's not a roomy SUV that has enough seats for all 4 homies. The RCF had poor sales since the beginning. It wasn't as fast as people hoped (old trans, older engine). I see people saying EVs aren't selling well, which gives me hope. The SUV market confuses me because those vehicles aren't fuel efficient, which is the problem with sports cars, so what gives? At the end of the day, I'm too broke to afford the drop-dead gorgeous LC, but for those who do have the money, I hope they consider it. I wish I had gotten one before covid, covid ruined everything.

I’ve owned all 4 generations of WRX in the US, currently in a ‘22 Premium, and I really hope it sticks around for the promised next generation hybrid. The new Forester is going to use Toyota hybrid bits on a boxer engine. Imagine the WRX using an FA24 with the hybrid system from the new Tacoma’s turbo 4 cylinder tacked onto that boxer engine.
The VB chassis is downright excellent, so all it really needs is a facelift and the hybrid bits to knock it out of the park.
Also, while the WRX might be in a sales slump, the new generation sold just as many in ‘22 and ‘23 as the peak of the last generation. We might be seeing potential buyers waiting to purchase the new TR model or the potential facelift in ‘26, and not some sort of sudden dissatisfaction with the model or the price.
