    For years I used a huge, funky looking controller for the original Xbox called the FPS Master Controller until there was no longer any decent workarounds to use it on modern systems. It was programmable and had face buttons on the top and some replicated on the bottom of the controller.

    I have a Chinese controller called mobapad pro... I think it's very similar to this, with some differences for better of for worse. It has usb type C, a huge battery, turbo function for every button if you need, 4 programmable back buttons and macro support ... The triggers feels different, they have a lot of travel but activates as soon as you start pressing it (it's weird but feels ok, sometimes I accidentally activate them by just resting my fingers there, it's something to get used to). Very good build quality, adjustable vibration and some other stuff. Works fine with android, PC and Nintendo switch, and it wakes up your switch (something that indeed we don't see very often). You should take a look. Just type Mobapad pro on Aliexpress.

    I managed to order one of these at a great discount (£27) based on this review. First impressions were great as it felt amazing to hold - just the right size and shape. Sadly I have to return it as Bluetooth and dongle connection to my HP laptop just don't work. It connects okay but no inputs seem to do anything. Works fine with Android. Also the L1 and R1 triggers don't seem to be analogue, just a click, so not for me I'm afraid.

    That removable back panel reminds me of this PDP controller I had that had back buttons set up similarly. Personally, I prefer my 8BitDo Pro 2 because of the PlayStation style and how the D-pad feels, and I found that I grew to dislike how the +, -, home, and capture buttons are placed on other pro controllers. I just wish the Pro 2 could wake the Switch up (whereas this can), but that's just a nitpick for me, since my Pro 2 isn't just another Switch controller for my usage. If I didn't already have the Pro 2, I'd probably have my eye on this!

      It's a great purchase, I used it for a week now. Best controller I ever used. By yourself a magic NS adapter as well. Pairing this controller to a PC. You will not have rumble. Using a magic NS adapter you gain rumble support, but you lose gyro support. To gain rumble. Set the magic ns adapter to Nintendo Switch pro controller. Then on the BigBigWon controller hold pair and B then let go. You're PC will read it Nintendo Switch pro controller. Getting magic NS adapter gives your more chances to connect just in case. But remember using magic ns, it doesn't read the gyro feature.

    This looks pretty nice, but like most other controllers, it seems to have the minor quirk that when holding the controller, your left thumb is on the left joystick at an angle, and not straight up. This isn't really an issue for most games, because most either have 8-way navigation or 360-degree navigation, but it does irk me when I play smash in my free time. Since my brain assumes that 'up' is pushing my thumb forward, I usually end up pushing north-northeast, and given that there's a difference between up-left and up-right when using a special attack, it can often be a punishing mistake. The other thing I'm wondering is - is there a sound that plays when you push the function button long enough to start the mapping process? It looks like it lights up when it's ready, but since your finger is over the button, you can't really see.

    • @RetroGameCorps
      @RetroGameCorps  Před 3 lety +1

      Good point on the angle. It doesn't make a sound, but it pulses orange. You're right that it's tricky, because my thumb covers it!

    2. do the sticks have any deadzone issues, it could be central deadzone, axial deadzone or even outer deadzone.
    2. do the sticks have any recentering issues or does it jitter
    3. how is the input lag particularly in bluetooth vs 2.4GHz connection. also, can you cannect the 2.4 GHz dongle to an android device with an otg cable, in order to get potentially a little less lag
    4. battery life/capacity

I tested it on my Android phone using Gamepad Tester and there are no deadzone issues, and no recentering/jittering issues. 3. There is a discernable lag with Bluetooth, it's very slight. 2.4GHz seems better to me. I tested Android with an OTG cable and it worked perfectly. Battery capacity is 800mAh, and the spec sheet says it lasts for 30 hours. Hope that helps!

    Great review! They should have just punt a small storage compartment for that dongle behind the removable back cover...
    But I have a few questions: Are L2 and R2 analog triggers? I would assume so, but it wasn't very clear to me. And for the next review, since you show them right next to android devices, could you try using the gamepad tester app to show the travel of the analog sticks and potential dead-zones? That would be awesome!

      I'll check out that gamepad tester app, thanks! I have already filmed my next controller video, so don't be mad if it doesn't appear in the next one later this week :)
      Edit to add: I just tested them because I was curious, and wanted to verify, and they are not analog triggers. This isn't something I usually check for, so I didn't notice the first time around. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

    How good is the D-Pad exactly? I ask because as much as I enjoy the Pro Controller, the D-Pad on it has the tendency to register up/down presses when pressing left/right and vice-versa. That kind of design flaw is fatal as someone who enjoys retro or 2D style games where digital directional input is more appropriate.

    • @RetroGameCorps
      @RetroGameCorps  Před 3 lety +1

      I've been using it for retro gaming for a few weeks now and I have no complaints. D-pads are very subjective, but I like the feel of this one: tactile and precise.

    I've always been confused as to how people are surprised as to how cheap these third party controllers are. If you're getting an off brand controller, doesn't $10-20 cheaper sound about right? You can get a brand name controller for just a bit more, and most of these controllers seem like cheaper versions of the real deal (except the 8bitDo controllers those are cool).
