Coach: "Don't tackle the quarterback, were on offense baby"
Ray: "I wont, I wont"
lol cracked me up.
Wasn't it funny tho! 😂
If Ed reed wasn’t intercepting quarterbacks it was Ray Lewis, if it wasn’t Ray lewis sacking the quarterback it was Ed reed. Probably the most dynamic duo in all of nfl history
Michael Wechsler I think it was Hines Ward when he said that Lewis and reed were like robin and batman
Batman and Robin.
ApeHead my bad haha
Dont forget bout Haloti Ngata
Can't leave T. Suggs out of the picture
13 time pro bowler. So basically his entire career. Insane.
Ray wasn't a dirty player... he was just simply dominant.
Great form tackler, never considered him dirty. He just hit guys extremely hard and was more intense than everybody else on the field.
He knew exactly where to hit the player on point and knock the ball off . 🫡
One of the hardest hitters ever but what makes it more impressive was that his hits were legal.
Him and Ed Reed were the best Browns receivers of that time...
hahaahahha i spilled my coffee - god dammit :D
damn I don't even need to be steeling on that one XDXDXD
Lol
Hahaha
Keep laughing guys go browns let's go
“Your effort is between you, and you.” Damn.
'Respect is Earned, And Not Learned..... That's Right...?
He and Ed have great quotes
@Brad Friday amen
🔥😤💯
@Brad Fridaywhats the "U"
Seeing these hits really makes you realize how much football has changed in recent years.
I know. Every other play is practically a penalty these days. Haha
Doesn’t even feel like the same sport sometimes!
Its sissy league now
@@nickporter574 40 sec. in and I was just thinking the same thing. That'd be a flag, flag, another flag...
13:19 "and a perfectly, clean hit" as he nearly kills Dustin Keller lmao. That probably comes with a 6 game suspension in todays NFL
One aspect I always loved about his game is he hit so hard, yet so clean. Some great players have to get a little dirty to be successful. Lewis never had that problem. Truly one of a kind.
And yet they still changed the rules by adding the "defenseless receiver" rule which all but guaranteed we will never see a monster in the middle like him ever again
I'm pretty sure Tom Brady is breathing a sigh of relief everyday that he doesn't have to see Ray Lewis across from him on the field anymore.
I remember Brady being afraid of Ray Lewis and Suggs particularly. I think on that goal one stand in the Super Bowl Kaepernick threw that ball in such panic because he saw Ray blitzing. One of the only players who could visibly affect the heart of the opposing team with his presence alone.
Receivers would drop balls over the middle
@@boyceevans917 that ravens d was scary
@KYB really bro ? You a crackhead
@KYB shut up worthless moron
The reason for the creation of “Hit Stick”
Cover athlete of Madden 05 💯👌
No sean taylor was the reason for the hit stick
Mecca Payne nope. Try again, ray started playing 6 years before Sean played a down. And stop sucking on Sean, he might not of been good if he played longer, for example, Herschel Walker only played 3 years in the nfl as the best running back and he after 3 was horrible so stop calling him hof talent because he wasn’t.
You feel me though
Fear the D was the theme of the game
Imagine being a receiver and having to run a slant in Ray Lewis’ direction. 😬
I would "trip" before the cut
😂😂😂😂
Dizzy 🥴
You have two choices: try to make the catch, or avoid being decapitated
I will audible into a streak
Man him, Reed, Ngata, and Suggs were a scary force in their prime. There was always pressure.
Don’t forget urlacherw
@@casinottv8595 Urlacher didn't play for Baltimore
Imagine Calais Cambell was with them at that time 😱
U mean big Sirigusa
Chris McAlister too, they were animals man best Defense ever
The fact that his first sack was a Harbaugh and he was coached by a Harbaugh and defeated a Harbaugh in a super bowl😂😂
the circle of life
MADDOG and his quarterback was also harbaugh 😂
MADDOG his coach John is Jim’s brother who he sacked then beat jim with John in the sb
Me too
MADDOG that’s hairball for harbaugh
small detail but, notice how on all of his huge hits on receivers, it ends with both men walking away.
he laid the hammer down his entire career and did it fundamentally, but still with power.
not like these other dudes diving head first into people.
Ray is forever a legend.
imlikemike well said and 100% true
8:07 head first tackle helmet to helmet.
Marcus Sikvayugak, yeah but that was a good play and still pretty clean
Marcus Sikvayugak that’s bound to happen at some point, but generally speaking his hits were usually clean
Exactly. A strong tackler.
Him and Ed Reed are probably the scariest defensive duo in NFL history
He called his retirement and right after won the SuperBowl yeah that’s greatness 💯
He too damn fast for him to be that big. Ray moves like an agile fullback with finesse
That ending was so fucking perfect for him.
Lamar Jackson of MLB's
Zmaj GREAT COMPARISON
I watched every second of the 2013 SB from a bar in Portland OR. I'm not a Ravens fan, since i'm from Ohio....but I hate the 49ers, and the Ravens giving them their first L in franchise history in the SB was the greatest thing I have ever seen. Ray Lewis, the greatest linebacker to ever play the game. Even if you hated him when he whooped your QB, you have to respect the way he played the game. Ferocious, tenacious, focused, driven....those are qualities to admire.
Morgann Blackwood he’s so fun to watch I grew up since a little kid watching ray Lewis. People just hate on him for the murder case even tho it was ruled self defense and he didn’t actually stab the person
Morgann Blackwood my uncle was obsessed with Ray and Ed, but mostly Ray. He even has some of his mannerisms
When Lewis Reed and Suggs walked on the field Raven fans felt unstoppable
And their opponents felt very stoppable.
Haloti Naghta was really good as well.
💯💯💯💯💯💯
To bad you didn't feel the same when the offense took the field lol
Lewis, Reed, Ngata, Bart Scott, Adalius Thomas, Jarrett Johnson...those were the days
That was heavy.
Well deserved 52.
He will forever be immortalized.
The best defender i've seen play in my life. An absolute monster.
I’m from Baltimore, this man has made an impact on this franchise and city that will last for generations. I will always love Ray Lewis 💯
I know as a Miami native and a football junkie that I might be biased, but this dude is the personification of football. Tell me I'm lying.

Hey Bro, l'm from Maryland. Moved to Miami in the early 1980s and the Miami Hurricanes were on FIRE ! Watched them win 34 game s in a row one time. Lewis, Reed Tayler and MANY MORE.
If there’s an opposite of lying, this comment is it
Joe 2 he’s the second best linebacker I’ve ever seen. LT is better tho.
Remember when he confessed to murdering 2 men??
I'm so proud to be a Ravens fan and to have witness the greatest middle linebacker of all time , love him or hate him you can't take away his greatness
You can tell Ray Lewis was a great wrestler by the way he secures every tackle.
2x Florida state champ
@@briadencashman7111Fuh real?
That was back when NFL coaches taught players how to actually tackle correctly.
How many players today do not wrap up?
Harbs said it best. “He’s our linebacker. He’s the ravens linebacker.” No player will ever suit a city or team to the point of being the identity for both like Ray did. 5 years later with a drop off(not for long) and teams still fear getting hurt playing bmore. That my friends is what you call a LEGACY!!
You can have fuckboy mcstabby.
0531jos you could do some research....
TheDCGuitar13 yes. Salute to that statement.
now our offense is better than defense so... oof?
TheDCGuitar13 Kobe, Jeter and Brady want to have a word with you
My favorite duo ever, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed
Suggs??
@@bobbiewiggles8631
Nah. Ed Reed, one of the greatest safeties of all time and Ray Lewis THE best middle linebacker of all time. That tandom in the backfield is what made that defense compete with the 85 Bears for the title of best defense of all time.
Ty Cardwell Ed Reed wasn’t even on their statically best season (2000 ravens that won Super Bowl)

The undisputed best Middle Linebacker of all time. Nobody else even comes close.
Greatest lb of all time
Jr seau 2nd
@johncrowley3322 LT was the best linebacker ever. Ray is definitely number 2 though.
@@TrevorPhillips1969 he was the best outside linebacker ever.
There are a lot of real good middle linebackers, but no one like Ray
LT then Ray definitely...hands down the best 2 linebackers with Derrick Thomas a close 3rd
Jesus when you watch how the whole defense reacts to Ray getting a pick, it's like they're so used to switching into a punt return setup and just blind siding dudes while they make blocks down field for Ray. It's something I've never thought about but it must be terrifying as an offensive player when the Ravens got an interception and suddenly that defense is coming down field at you, laying dudes out left and right. Nightmares
i mean, between ray lewis & ed reed, the defense might as well have been punt return blockers as well
I feel so fortunate to have been able to watch him his whole career. May never see another player like him.
Teams aren’t looking for LBs like him. The game is different. Pass heavy offense....everyone is looking for slimmer, faster, coverage LBs.
The Taylor / Lewis / Butkus era is over, good football can only be watched on old highlight.
Duryl Cook I feel so fortunate I wasn't that guy he killed
jerzy franek if he's a murderer, explain to me why he was never charged with murder?
Duryl Cook you're right Casey Anthony and Oj were never found guilty so they never did it lol
Man I miss watching this dude play. Dude made defense fun to watch.
Exactly
This man has such an instinct for the position its crazy to watch.
I met Ray Lewis when he stayed in the hotel I work at. Dude tipped me $20.
@Benjamin Boeger why because he's black?
What a god
Benjamin Boeger SMH

I’ll never forget old Ray Lewis blowing through the Chargers’ line to end that game. That’s my favorite all-time Ray play. I will never forget seeing that. It was something else.
Best MIDDLE linebacker ever the guy was a beast electrifying he moves perfect to hit on the field
There will never be another Ray Lewis. He was an amazing player. 💪💪💪

The GOAT of linebackers. I miss Ray.
If you're a young linebacker looking to learn how to play the position properly, this is the man you study. Simply the greatest MLB ever.
So much respect for this man. Dominated from his first year to his last. Great example of a leader and a dominant player in the most physical sport in the world
I grew up in England, now live in Australia. I can't even remember how I started watching the NFL but I remember seeing Ray Lewis & Ed Reed lighting guys up when I first started watching it and despite being a skinny little white kid, just watching them do it made me feel like I could run a hole through a freight train. The NFL now is a different ball game and we won't see guys like Ray Lewis again, man was this guy fun to watch.
You have respect a murderer ummm I have a jersey for Rey buts that’s cause I like the way he plays and supports my mom
BrokemyKeyBoard aka sqiuppy Or kpg how fucking stupid do you have to be to actually believe he killed that guy?
BrokemyKeyBoard aka sqiuppy Or kpg google is at your fingertips. You can easily look up what happened and you’ll find he definitely didn’t murder anyone lmao
As a Chicago man, Butkus, Singletary and Urlacher are legends. But Ray Lewis is the absolutely GOAT no questions ever asked.
Laurence Taylor
Eloquence no. He was the most dominant. But he didn’t live New York. He changed the game, yes. But you could pass on those giants. But you couldn’t run nor throw between the hashes with #52 on the field
@@ljlmagix Laurence Taylor is the best defensive player of all time.
@brandon d Just because you don't know how to be unbiased doesn't mean I can't. I am a Bears fan, even flew from San Diego to Chicago just to go to the playoff game against the Eagles last year. Guess I can't expect a blind man to look around.
@@scrappydoolobster6143 He's number two. Only because he didn't do it as long and at as high of a level. He also wasn't nearly what Ray was in pass coverage.
There will never be anyone like Ray Lewis, he brought this game to a whole other level! Motivating his team and still motivating people around him, in a way that get's the best out of everyone he touches with his motivational speeches. The man was a constant threat both on and of the field, pep-talks and constantly uplifting everyone around him! He was and is a one of kind gem to humankind. God bless him and his family.
"ANYTHING THAT MOVES, WE KNOCK OUT" 😂 I love Ray !! Glad I was and still am a Ravens fan. Him and Reed used to tear up those offenses!
😳This man laid Jerome the bus Bettis out i just gained a new level of respect for this man
Greatest MLB of all time. To play in the modern era and play like that, and put up those numbers, I give him the edge over Lambert and Butkus
Noah Rogers true...even over Lawrence Taylor and Mike Singletary.
Grayson Hasting Middle Line Backer...
You forgot LT won the MVP award being a defensive player
Grayson Hasting wasn't a very funny joke
You spelled Lawrence Taylor wrong
No other player deserved to go out with a Chip Like Ray Lewis he was the absolute best at his position for his entire career. And it wasn't even close. No other linebacker dominated the league for 15 years like him. A true living legendary
Everytime Ray makes a tackle on a receiver Ed Reed is right there... they really do study film like that
I think I've just found the best video on the entire internet.
Faxxxx
This makes me so emotional watching this video and realizing how much heart and love Ray put into his team and he's gotta be the greatest football play I had ever seen
Brought me to tears at the end! Often times we look at quarterbacks as leaders. But Ray was one of the greatest leaders , on defense. The way he describes his relationships with his team. Powerful. They really were like an army. Anytime I watched a Ravens game and they were in defense, I feared for the offense lol
He was that dominant,Ray Lewis is a NFL legend indeed
What’s crazy is all the knockout hits in this awesome video at least were 100% clean. GOAT of all defensive players in my book
Stan Park theres a man named Lawrence taylor that might say otherwise
Too bad you put a good clean hit on somebody like that in today's nfl it's gonna be a flag
The was a man a named Reggie White who would say otherwise.
lol LT was just a pure pass rusher and played in a defensive friendly era for 12 years. Lewis could do it all and did it in an offensive friendly era for 17 years. Lewis>>>>>>>>LT
@@2hiptom Today's football is crazy.. you can't touch the damn player without a fowl it seems like.
The best MLB ever! Yeah I said it. He was a game changer and every time he was on the field his team had a good chance to win. Over 30 INT's unheard of for a MLB. 💪🏾
Your not wrong
I agree. When Ray decided to come back with that severe injury to play in the Superbowl, that as the most heroic thing I've seen in football since Johnny Unitas had a season ending injury to his throwing arm, but still came off the bench in the second half of Superbowl 3 because Namath and the Jets were up by two scores I believe. The amazing thing about that was, he could barely throw a spiral, but he still got his team into the end zone once I'm pure will. I can't think of a better compliment than comparing a player, and a defensive player a that, to Johnny U.
Second best. Lawrence Taylor is almost certainly in the top 5 players, not just MLBs, of all time.
Chekhov LT was an outside linebacker. But LT is better.
@@sportsfaniguess154 Yeah LT was one of the top 3 players ever. He's up there with Rice and Brady, in my opinion.
Ray Lewis was always my favorite. He was my inspiration for loving defense and hitting hard.
Out of the pads, I was a soft spoken nerd. In the pads, i felt like Lewis. Invincible, hitting everyone with everything I had, every play.
I was overwight, so I played noseguard, but i wanted to play smart. I drilled my facemask and weight into the centers arms over and over and caused fumbles and sacks.
Ray got me my defensive player titles when I played football
Ray is easily the best linebacker of all time and he is one of the greatest players ever
I remember Ray and Eddie George always came with everything they had when they played each other. The collisions !! My GOD
6:54 when a bus meets a freight train
What u mean his feet where in the air still a crazy hit but it made it look alot more than it really was
Not so much. Jerome Bettis would have destroyed Ray Lewis if his feet weren’t in the air
Coke Kola yessssss
Being a Ravens fan it was always wonderful watching Ray Lewis play. Watching him coming out of the tunnel doing his dance before every game. Couldn't have asked for a better leader. Glad he got to go out with another Superbowl ring. Just wish the Ravens had a leader like him today
I love this guy and don’t know him his passion for the game is unmatched
I'm a Pittsburgh fan and I have a lot of respect for Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and the Ravens on general

Ray Lewis was the greatest defensive player of all time. He did everything you could ask of a defensive player. He led. He won. He never broke confidence and demeanor. He had singleness of purpose unlike anyone we had witnessed before. His heart was all in the game. He was the ultimate general. The ultimate leader. Ultimate hype man. Ultimate producer. Ultimate clutch player. He’s the ice in the veins of football. Sometimes you hear Ray Lewis in your head when you need motivation. There’s only one Ray, and he was the most respected and feared player that I ever saw
Ray is one of the main reasons I became a diehard Ravens fan!
Even with a tricep injury, even when he was near his end, he still fucking dominated and won a superbowl to retire, what a fucking legend.
I would buy madden if they make a showcase mode with the history of players like Ray Lewis
