    But ...let's say you are Venezuelan, and you may want to go back and forth and have a place in Venezuela you can spend time on. Good luck finding anything for that price anywhere else. I just spend a few weeks in Venezuela and I was pleasantly surprised and how normal things are ( except for putting gas but you can actually hire someone to do the "cola" for you and bring your car full of gas for not a lot of money ) ....the markets were full, the quality of the food was amazing, I felt completely safe walking and driving in the city I was at, shopping centers were super clean and again you can find anything. So for a Venezuelan that has income in dollars and wants to spend time in His country, the real estate seems insanely cheap and worth it. Also, in the city I was at, I'm not far from some the most beautiful beaches and ocean in the world . I saw a penthouse in amazing condition, 2 stories, great area, and almost 5000 sq ft !!!!! for less than 200 k ......Someone showed me a house in Burbank, California that was not great, less than 800 Sq ft and it was listed for almost 1 million.....so for what you can get, and having the ability of going back and spending time in your country and having dollars to spend.....It makes a ton of sense to buy a property (which by the way has very low taxes and other expenses to maintain). Another thing to consider is ...what if next year there is a miracle and somehow Maria Corina Machado is able to become president ( I know it will be hard but we have to be hopeful and positive !) ....guess what will happen, Venezuela's economy will take off like a rocket, and those cheap properties will be no more. So I think in certain cases and if you are a Venezuelan citizen ...it could make sense.

    I left Canada and moved to Venezuela in 2022 & I've bought real estate and I'm buying more... plus I've reduced my cost of living by over 90%.... I love it here and the risk level has greatly reduced since 2019

    Venezuela is definitely the country to buy property from. If I could I absolutely would buy a beach house, they are super affordable, and you enjoy an amazing tropical beach, you can't go wrong, and believe me the beaches over there are sooo nice.

    Venezuela was my 1st stop and 1st love of a S.American country on a 1 year sabbatical I took to travel around the continent in 2002. I would invest because of the beauty of the country and warmth of the people. It's a real shame its in the state that it's in but another reason to invest is for the pleasure of enjoying it. It has so much to offer.

    Wasnt a risk buying the house at 5k but at 35k its a significant risk. That's like getting a residency or gambling your whole life savings on an apartment that is most likely locked up forever. At 5k its more akin to trading or poker sort of thing

    • @NearShoreLiving
      @NearShoreLiving  Před rokem +3

      😂 Yeah. That's what I figured back then. It was the first apartment that I ever owned and for $5k in a location that is still nice to go party/spend winters, etc.
      My thought (naive) process back then was "How much lower can it possible go?"

    I was also thinking about el Salvador when you said no failed states really come back. Nevertheless, it's different because he was opposition, he won. But Venezuela has no opposition politically like you said , so it's not comparable. Iran coming back would be like Venezuela coming back, high risk not likely

    I follow the account that posted about the Venezuelan real estate.
    Usually their recommendations aren't laughable even when I disagree with their pitch.
    Had they pitched it as "hey if you really like spending time in Venezuela this may not suck" instead of "here's a great deal on real estate in Venezuela let me give you 9 reasons why!" I could have gotten behind the message.
    The sad thing is other than a few comments most people were in agreement with the post. We live in a scary time!

      I don't blame them - they're running a business and they have to do marketing.
      I never blame the people posting on social media, they are catering to the audience. I have been there too. I am just lucking that I am running this youtube channel as my own way to release some steam 😂
      I'm not exactly sure if it's a new problem or if social media has amplified the problem but audiences seem to crave simple/positive/easy to digest content.
      Change can come if audiences start demanding more and more realistic content. There are so many smart people who are forced to make bs content to keep their businesses running.

      I understand what you mean, and to a point I agree.
      If their socials were run by someone who was on the lower end of intelligence I’d understand completely but these guys are incredibly intelligent. That leads me to believe they’re operating in bad faith. Which is unfortunate because they have enough influence to create buyers that may get hurt.
      But people reserve the right to make poor decisions.

    Hey man. I dont want to invest, i just want a pretty place to own in a tropical place. I have some money and i dont mind losing it.
    My question is : do i risk dying every time i go on vacation there ?
    Is there a possibility: corrupt officials just decide to take the property from me?
    Is it safe for middle easterners, caucasians and asians?

    • @NearShoreLiving
      @NearShoreLiving  Před 10 měsíci +3

      So if you are looking to just live near the beach and understand that ROI is probably $0.
      Then, it is safe...right now.
      It's impossible to tell you how it will be in 5 years.
      But I would say that as of today, you can travel to Venezuela and it's probably a bit safer than Colombia, etc (within reason)
      Rentals are super cheap in the country as well - so you can just go in and find a place to rent. There might be some convincing, etc since you might not have the proper documents, etc but not impossible.

    • @TuAmigoElMorrocoy
      @TuAmigoElMorrocoy Před 9 měsíci +3

      I would say that as a Caucasian and Middle Eastern person you won't have problems as there is a significant amount of Caucasians and Middle easterners in the local population already, you could pass as a local at least visually... specially Middle easterners who already look very similar to the mestizo majority
      Asians may stand out a bit more, but I don't think you will have an issue either as there is a pretty significant Chinese population.... overall Venezuela is a very multiracial country and nobody really has that racial tribalism they have in the US. Venezuela has always encouraged the mixing of the races and segregation was abolished in the 1600s, so racial tribalism is not that much of a thing, and it is normal and common to have many different races represented in one family.
      HOWEVER it is not a multicultural country... if you got to Venezuela expecting to wear a hijab, or a turban, or expecting to be served in a different language you are NOT going to have a fun time. Don't expect people to go out of their way to include foreing practices, head pieces are required to be off in most goverment buildings, so if you're taking passport pictures or ID or making any official documents you will be required to take of any non standard garments. NO hijab, no turbans, no yamakas, no if or buts... likewise don't expect to find anything halal or kosher either. Basically don't expect anyone to acomodate any cultural practices outside of the standard western/latin American standard practices, you might find business ran by people from those cultures that might acomodate you, but thoses are rare specially if you are going to smaller cities... I hope that helps

      As an outsider (I could be wrong) he seems like a good leader but things tend to fall apart sometimes when great leaders leave.

      You need to adquire an investor visa. Relatively easy.
      I know lawyers that I can recommend but everything in the country comes with a HUGE disclaimer, things are rapidly changing this year and not as stable as the past 3 years.
