It never ceases to amaze me how many watch brands exist all with their own history and style. Informative and entertaining as always. Thanks Teddy!
Thanks for making me discover the Partitio. What a nice piece. Excellent video keep it up!
This video is exactly what I was looking for and I knew you would have it. I really want a Nomos but am looking at other German brands also. I just love the simplistic and thin design a lot of them have. Thank you.
Thx Teddy! The Stowa ticks off the things I'm looking for in a watch for dress & everyday. Heritage German brand, 38 or less, lume, no date, ETA manual and not too "sporty" to me; plus under $750. As you mentioned, looks like I can use a bracelet, leather or NATO on it. If I get the new job this week I'm buying myself one as a present! The Max Bill manual was a very close second!! Thx again!
Thanks to your channel I have gotten back into the watch collector game. I don't have tons of money to spend, so these videos help alot. Great video. Keep them coming.
Completely in love with german watches, specially in affordable range like this. Currently wearing TUW Ruhla
I really love your videos. You basically do all the research about available watches for us! I would also love to see you making more in depth reviews of some of these watches ;)
Junkers has also automatic watches in the Bauhaus and Bauhaus 100 Jahre series. Also, Zeppelin watches are made by the same company and can be found on the same website as Junkers watches. They’re essentially the same watches with different dials and branding. Love the Bauhaus series!
As a German, I can recommend Seiko! It's a japanese brand that has nothing to do with Germany, which is just exotic enough for me
Doc Milersky hahaha I love Seiko
Yeah Japan and Germany has nothing in common ;)
Just buy a japanese watch then, problem solved lmao
@Truthfears Guilty well they do have some of the best movements in watch history such as glashutte original and a lange & sohne if you have 15k to spare
Hellsing Tepech NOMOS watches use Glashütte movements as well and they don’t cost 15k but still about 1,5 - 4k
Great video as always! I have a Graff Zeppelin Hindenburg series, rose gold case with a black dial, black band, and a Miyota 9015 series movement. It is absolutely gorgeous, my co-workers ask me about it all the time with someone even commenting that it has steam punk vibe to it. It definitely has a early 20th century design element to it. I paid $300 for it. Wish I could share a pic of it on here, but its becoming one of my favorite watches in my collection
I would definitely put the Sinn 556 on the list as well!
I thought it would be a stretch to include it under a $1,000. You can find some used for that, but they retail over that. The next video for sure!
It would be a Sinn not to mention it? Lol
Awesome video and information, I love those german watches and only knew a cuople of them, keep the good work!
Excellent review,as always....keep on and thanks for your channel!
Much needed content in this area for watch enthusiasts. Some of these German watches are real sleepers and are likely to increase in value like Nomos. Would be great to see your picks at the next price point.
Definitely do this for more countries please!
Yes! Enjoying the deep dive of specific watch brand by country.
Great video as always! I’ve fallen in love with German watches as of late. I guess I need to brush up on my correct pronunciation of a lot of these brands by the comment section here😳
Hey Ted! Great vid! I really like your content as i come across more variety of watches unlike many guys tt focus only on the few brands eg rolex,AP.. i am currently still considering to get the junghans chronoscope but i’ve just gotten the hamilton khaki field mechanical. Any advice?
I got myself the Max Bill hand winding last week. AMAZING!
Awesome! What color?
Teddy Baldassarre I got the silver dial (looks white) with the numbers. I considered the black but I wanted to try a bright dial for once. Worth it! Only minor con is the movement has loud ticks.
What is the lug width?
Pilipinazz the lug width is 18mm, so that’s very nice. The lug-to-lug length is only 37mm
Got it a few days ago! My first real watch purchase, loving it!
Definitely more along the lines of what I’m most interested in, the more affordable watches. Like you, I appreciate German styling, and will look further into the Red Baron.
You need to look over french watch brands.
By the way, good job. Keep it up !
I love your Junghans Chronoscope! Wish you would've included the Form C Chronoscope!
Great video! I own a Junghans Form A, love the Bauhaus clean design.
Another excellent video, Teddy. Quite a few brands that were new to me. Especially like the Nivril. Will be checking that out further.
Great video as always Teddy. Love German watches but im less familiar with German budget options. Has the price on that Defakto changed? I looked into it being new to the brand and saw it listed for 915 instead of 500ish putting it more in line with max bills and stowa anteas.
I own a Junkers Hugo chronograph white dial with Ronda quartz and I love it. Is such a great affordable watch. It may have nothing to do with the old company but who cares¿ I felt in love with it. I also plan to get a Bauhaus automatic from them or Zeppelin. They are under the same umbrella.
Teddy, thanks for making these great videos, this one is excellent, German watches are of my favorites. Hopefully I’ll be able to get myself a Lange Terraluna one day.
Fantastic list Teddy! I would add the Sinn EZM 3F pre-owned.
Another great video, many thanks Teddy.
If I had a spare 1500 laying around I'd get the Max Bill chrono in a heartbeat. (In white naturally)
I'd love to see a video with one watch from each continent, or each region of the world.
I did buy the Junkers Bauhaus after seeing it on one of your videos, and for the money I really like it.
Loved the series!!! Love minimalistic watches and love German watches!
Nice video.
Please do continue with the series. I like it.
Great video. I got to know a whole range of good german watch brands.
Happy to help my friend!
Another excellent video Teddy. Love German watches and a Laco could be my next purchase as I have no pilots watch in the collection. Some great brands there I have not heard of so will be checking them out. A Sinn and a Damasko will be in there one day too at over a thousand dollars or pounds most of them so another episode on higher priced ones would be very welcome also.
Awesome list! The only watch I would personally add is the Zeppelin Hindenburg Moonphase at between $150-250
This is an interesting list of watches, Teddy. Coincidentally, I have two of these manufacturer’s watches on my wish list: Archimede, and Junghans, though I am looking at different models. I’m looking at the Junghans Max Bill black dial automatic and Archimede bronze Flieger. Thanks for a really great video!
I liked this video since it provided a lot of content on German watches at affordable price points. I will forward to future episodes similar to this video.
Good overview. Thanks
Next up: a review on the Tapferkeit watches?
Fantastic review. Great job. Which top 3-5 dress watches (from any country) would you recommend, which meet the following criteria: 1) white dial; 2) wearable with business suits; 3) wears well with larger wrists (maybe 40+mm); 4). black leather strap, 5). clean/classy, and 6). under $1k. I seem to fancy Hamilton, Junghan (sp?) Max Bill, Defakto, Breitling, but DEFINITELY open to others. Thank you for your feedback.
That Laco's on my grail list!
Completely overlooked my favorite brand...Steinhart!
Tom Russ i like steinhart but they are just copying rolex
recently got my hands on Zeppelin Flatline Open Heart, blue dial. awesome watch.
Great video.. More of this type please.
Love the Aristo LH-80 flieger and Laco Aachen type B flieger. Also love your Max Bill Chronoscope and the look of that Graf Zeppelin.
Great selection Teddy! I like the first one and the last one! 😃 ⌚️
I like the archimede bronze pilot watch.
Loved this video and would love more, perhaps centred solely on one or two classic bauhaus watch makers or another multi watch video like this one. Anything German at the moment is good for me. Got myself the Braun watch mentioned here and I love it, especially as I paid £70 for it. At some point I will invest in something a little more iconic and classic. Thanks, great job!
I would also highly recommend the microbrand Sternglas and their Naos 2.0! Just bought one and I’ve been really enjoying it, great bauhaus watch and value for $200
Nice video to raise awareness of German watches. Would be a good idea to cover the next tier of watches there, ie Sinn, Nomos and others.
I love German watches... And I love Junghans... Please talk about Sternglas... I know it is a new brand but they've got such a good looking watches... I'd like to know more about them... Great video
What do you guys think of Sternglas? I really dig their watches !
Its fine. Contra no big History or Heritage
I love my Sinn 556i which I purchased secondhand on eBay for a less than $1k.
Teddy, what is your opinion on saving to buy a watch? I am 16 y/o and really want to get a junghans max bill (automatic). Is it really worth saving up for? I already have a skx013k2 and a bambino open heart. Very conflicted on if it is worth saving up for.
Love the video I would love to see other brands from other countries like Canada will be cool
My favorite German watch right now is the Junghans Meister Telemeter. I love the vintage inspired look and coming in at 40mm for a chrono is a winner for my wrist. The Nomos Zurich World Time in midnight blue comes in at a close second in my book. While both watches are over the $1000 mark, Junghans at $2k USD and the Nomos at $6k USD, I believe they embody the spirit of German engineering and form.
Great video. I didn’t even know that some of those brands were German.
That Defacto looks awesome. Defacto, Archimede and Limes are related, if I remember correctly.
I believe you are correct. Totally agree on the Defakto as well. Possibly my favorite from the list.
Hi Teddy. Just purchased the Raymond Weil titanium "freelancer" with the RW5000 automatic movement. Any thoughts sir?
Those were some really nice watches thanks.
The entry-level Stowas probably stand out in this price bracket... You also might have wished to include the Sinn 556 and the Nomos Club Campus. In addition (although I am not sure about the “street price”), there are some offerings from Union Glashütte you could have checked out since they are available worldwide through online vendors.
Good info. Thanks. Any thin watches from Germany?
Fell in love with the Junghans Chronoscope because of you! Still saving the money, but that’s my unicorn now!
M Gro That’s a great watch to pursue
Great video Teddy! I am fortunate to own two Lange's. I enjoy most of the German offerings.
Now we need you to look at the $1,000. to $5,000. market.
I really enjoy your channel.
What sources do you like for straps and accessories? Much appreciated!!
Teddy, I was wondering what your thoughts are on the Junghans Form C Chrono watch as a more affordable option to the Max Bill. I
This is a great series idea.
Can you make an affordable series on hand winding watches. Thanks
Hello ! Thank you for your nice video ! Please , tell me where is the Germany watch brad Windgassen ? Today I buy one and will be interesting for me what I bay. Thank you !
Great review, I recently bought the Iron Annie(formerly Junkers) Wellblech. It's a simple quartz watch with a date window and extra time-zone. I didn't really like the leather band it came with, so I interchanged it with a NATO strap instead.
Hi Mr Clark
How abt your iron Annie watch now?
I'm considering their automatic watch now, but not easy to get the review...🤔😅
Nice video. Given the bauhaus style of most of the watches listed I would have thought the Laco Dresdon would have made it on.
Nice video, maybe you should look at Mühle Glashütte for the next one.
Yes , more please Teddy. Thanks chap X
Great info for sure! Would like to see the next step...$1000-$2500 price range.
I think for the price Vostok amphibian watches are great automatic upto 20atm anti shock and well made also you can mod them.
Some amazing German brands .. A word of caution though some of the cheaper brands featured are almost certainly not German made . Acquiring the names of defunct brands with heritage is a trick often favoured by the Chinese in attempt to add prestige to what is often junk...
Could you tell me is the Elysee Sinthion Automatic is a good choice?
I LOVE that lz129, never seen it before
6:58 Teddy, after a lifetime of cheap watches, I'm going to take the plunge and buy myself a really decent watch. I'm in love with Graf Zeppelin LZ-129. By the way, LZ-129 is a reference to the Hindenburg, the airship that crashed and burnt at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey on the 6th of May, 1938. From what I've read, traveling by Zeppelin was a classy way to cross the Atlantic in just 2 to 3 days, sort of like a floating cruise ship, but faster. The view! LZ-129, the watch, is definitely on my short list. If *Zeppeline* were still around, I'd be on the next one to Europe.
You're presentation of the LZ-129 was rather brief, too much so for a watch novice like myself. I use 24 hour time, so I really like the small dial at the 6 o'clock position. What is the purpose of the little semi-circular dial at the twelve o'clock position? Is it a timer of some sort?
I know it's a little above the price point but can't beat a Sinn104 for the price, such a versatile piece, got mine about a month ago or so ? And love it also the 556 I believe can be had some places at least used for under a grand.
I love that gray suede band. who makes that one, please?
Hi!
You said the Junkers automatic 500$ is nit worth it for that price range. What would you recommand insted.
Beautiful and some of the finest German watches.
Great video. Please do one for $1000-2000 bracket.
Very informative on German brands. I am surprised there not very making their own movements. I own a vintage style Trias, automatic with a coin edge case...and I love it. I do not anything about the brand, nor who makes the movement in my particular watch and would like to know more about it. I do truly like the German styling, most of the watches you displayed in this video, I like very much. Thanks Teddy!
Why did you pick the laco flieger instead of the stowa? Any particular reason?
Yes, please continue. I have been looking at a Sinn
I will continue this! Love the next price range for German watches
@@TeddyBaldassarre Thanks. I'm really enjoying your channel.
Hey guys! Have you heard of "Sternglas"? Also a German watch making brand :)
I own the naos automatic with a black dial and ,damn son, I love it!
It's antireflection sapphire crystal is truly better than from my Certina caimano.
@Teddy what is your opinion on this brand?
Great video Teddy, but I would like to see Gigandet watches in your videos more often. Great watches and especially the story of this watch !
What do you think of Dugena's Minor, Dessau and Sigma-especially the chrononograph versions-as a starting point? Still dreaming of the IWC Portuguese chronograph line IW3714XX.
Like the watches you covered.
Good job Teddy!
a compare and contrast between the hand wind Max Bill and Nomos Orion please. I am digging the style but a new Max Bill and a preowned Nomos are i the same range.
great video as always! I know pronunciation is difficult for some German names. But simply say Braun like "brown" its a lot more accurate.
Difficulty for Americans: In the advertising here the company pronounces it "brawn", presumably because "brown" does not sound *European* enough. It blew my mind when I first saw a Braun ad in German, and I realized yes: "au" in Braun is pronounced as 'ow', as Donau River.
He pronounces "Bronn".
I love the Junghans Max Bill. Iconic, elegant & ageless.
I agree. Still high on my list of watches I want to buy.
Good selection
I like the Gigandet Red Baron. I don't know why, but I like it. I think it looks clean, solid, and looks like a typical Flieger.
Sinn and Steinhart and Laco are my favourite German watch brands !
Have you run across a "Limes Pharo big date" by Heckler ? I have one and I think that their
watch lineup is beautiful !!
Will you be taking a look at the Rodina R005 for us with 100 dollar budget?
I like the Aristo watches because there are a variety of sizes. In bought the 47 mm blue starburst with a 2824-2 ETA movement. I don’t like it... I love it! Great show.
What do you think about Askania watches from Berlin?
