      The TX also was good. In my opinion the TX sacrifice resistence in combat, for power. Patrick's Terminator have less attack power, but more resistence. And this maybe can be valid becose the TX is a Terminator of Terminators, she must have extreme power.

      If you like computer games give Terminator Resistance a try.
      It is not a perfect game and perhaps even average as a shooter but as a Terminator game it really nails the atmosphere of the Future War depicted in the flashbacks of Terminator 1 and 2.
      A lot of fans who played it consider it sort of the third Terminator movie or a prequel to Terminator 1 and 2, showing the War against the Machines' final days.

      But.... I actually liked Salvation as a prequel to T1, and Dark Fate as an alternate universe makes sense if you accept the premise that AI is inevitable and some corporation is destined to inadvertently create a self-aware computer.
      If truly intelligent, the machines can logically conclude that Terminating humans is beneficial for other life forms on earth. Therefore, *Judgement Day is inevitable.*

    No words can describe the amazing things with T2 and Robert Patrick. While Arnold was all muscle, both Linda Hamilton and Robert Patrick where so well trained and leaned for their roles. The way Robert Patrick portrayed T1000 is just so unstoppable, he had this smirk on his face, his eyes and his look, this confidence that no one could do anything to him, not even if he were to be blasted into a millions of pieces he would just melt together. At those moments Robert Patrick truly acted as if he were untouchable. T1000 really was such a good villain for such a sequel, James Cameron really made the audience feel like the Skynet took everything it had to throw at John Connor to make sure he would die this time around. I think while Arnold is good at portraying a robot and has a menacing presence, he was never scary, he was scary in concept rather than execution. I think that's why the second ones better, Robert Patrick definitely worked better as a villain than Arnold because him being more adept at being human yet still off, made his transition to killing machine much more genuinely frightening, but I think the first film adds context to that, the Early terminators are big clunky killing machines, now they're like psychopathic shape shifting triathletes

    • @charlesthorndike2702
      @charlesthorndike2702 Před 4 lety

      I agree 100%
      Casting an unknown was a brilliant move. If it had been some action star or villain-guy famous prior to T2 it would not have had the same effect. When there's an unknown playing one of the lead roles, the audience has zero preconceived notion of what to expect, and that was the perfect choice for the T-1000. He was polite, yet calculating and sly. You're not a 100% sure of what he truly is before the initial confrontation at The Galleria. Casting Billy Idol (who was the 1st choice to play the T-1000, before he got injured) would also probably not have worked as well as Robert Patrick. Robert Patrick did not get cast in T2 because he was big, he got big because he was in T2.
      Patrick also had the perfect look to play the T-1000. I've heard Cameron saying "Robert sort of looks like a cat" I can see what he means. Robert had sharp ears, a back slick hairstyle that looks aerodynamic, and a defined jawline. He overall looks like a fast, swift creature, that's constantly observing his environment. His ice-blue eyes also help, because it makes him look like very cold character (and it also fits the awesome nightblue look/cinematography that T2 (and many of Cameron's other movies) has) It also helps that he's significantly smaller than Arnold. He's shorter, and much slimmer. That's very deceiving at first, considering how powerful the T-1000 is. (he sort of has the same body type as Kyle Reese from the first Terminator) That also makes his running more realistic. An actor with Arnie's size would not have been as convincing as a fast runner. Robert must've been in great shape, because he looks so fast when he runs. When chasing John on his bike, it looks like he's running 60km/h (37.2 mph) (Usain Bolt's top speed is 44.7km/h (27.8 mph)). Not having an accent like Arnold also helps, because it makes him seem like a more advanced model, and it makes him seem more human at the beginning of the movie. And unlike Arnold, we never get to see his POW. Arnold has the infrared screen in both T1 and T2, the T-1000's sight remains a mystery.
      Like Cameron said: "If the 800 series is a kind of human Panzer tank, then the 1000 series had to be a Porsche." They nailed that part. There are few examples of such perfect casting as Robert Patrick in Terminator 2. Terminator 2 has: a perfect story, perfect characters, perfect acting, perfect casting, perfect pacing, perfect music, perfect special effects, perfect cinematography, perfect stunts, perfect action sequences, a perfect balance of artistic and entertainment value, a perfect balance of emotions, and a perfect ending.

      @EramSemperRecta Based on your previous comment, I'm guessing you're sarcastic with this one. I love Jackie Chan, but he would not have fit the role as the T-1000. He is too likeable, and smiles too much. He would not have been intimidating enough. Also, he was a well-known actor prior to 1991, so that would have worked against him as well.

    • @Icetea-2000
      @Icetea-2000 Před rokem +6

      The fact that he was smaller actually added to the fear in my opinion. Because when you saw Arnold in T1 you were like "yeah ok this guy is huge and a robot, this is a force of nature" but then you see Patrick as the T-1000 and after we see how he can transform his body into virtually anything you realize that he doesn’t need to be bigger or have a better power core, software, skeleton, whatever, just the nature of his existence is enough to make us fear him because he seems indestructible. And making him look like a pretty normal guy only makes that contrast so much more stark
