  • Havilah and I continue to discuss appropriate boundaries and discipline. You will learn the importance of maintaining your authority to discipline, how to honor your husband in the discipline and training process, and how to trust God to fill in the gaps, especially if you are a single mom. You may have made mistakes in the past, but it is never too late to repent and build new habits.

What if the father is too harsh physically and verbally. and refuses to admit mistake and wont let me talk to him about discipline in private. I struggle with voicing issues out. Should i let him discipline him .

You can raise strong, godly men without spanking.

Spanking is beating and abusive.. Its not neccesary, there are other ways. You can be very clear with your kids without being physical. I never spanked my son, and would never, and he is very pleasing to be around, helpful, polite etc.

Great video. I have a question from an educational psychology point of view- there are so many resources coming out proving the harmful effects of spanking a child. I definitely think there are many proven ways to still discipline your child in a biblical way without using corporal punishment. I am trying to navigate this topic as a Christian while still looking at research from an educational psychology stance. I would greatly appreciate your view on this.

Hi I'm sorry if this might be intrusive. I understand where you're coming from but the bible does tell us that we shouldn't be hesitant about disciplining our children even if it is with a rod. Proverbs 23:13. There is a difference however between a spanking and a beating. Spanking will not hurt them but will in fact be good discipline. Wise they will know what the consequences are for disobeying and having bad attitudes will be.

Check out Connected Families and Flourishing Homes and Families for biblical discipline that does not include spanking.

I’m pretty disappointed by these two videos you’ve done. I loved what you said in “At Home with the Beveres” about fear not being a good or Godly motivator. Yet here you’re using weak, fear based leadership to scare your kids into compliance. Connected Families and Flourishing Homes and Families provide tons of helpful discipline advice that involves actually teaching and discipling our children. I still enjoy your sons’ podcast!
