    Hi Luke, I purchased this tent on Amazon after seeing your review. After setting up the tent for the first time using only the poles, i noticed that the material had pulled away from the stitching in one corner of the inner tent. I contacted onetigris and was appalled by there customer service. They insisted that I had placed to much tension on the tent and would not replace it. Fortunately Amazon allowed me to return the tent and get my money back. I have now bought a Naturehike mongar 2 instead. Thanks for your reviews! Kevin from Sweden.

    Great to hear that OneTigris have improved the design of this tent and it's now actually useable. I had exactly the same issue with the OneTigris Backwoods Bungalow, where I was swimming after waking up in the morning. Admittedly, they were quick to admit the tent was defective and issued a refund, but the company shouldn't be relying on the general public to test their products. It's almost like they adopt a "We'll cut corners on production to save money and if it fails, I'm sure someone will tell us"., or more likely "I'm sure Luke will tell us". Appreciate you taking one for the team :-) . Keep up the great work, sir! Cheers!

    Luke … Simply an EXCELLENT review. If I go beyond my canvas pup tent to something newer and lighter, this is probably the way I will go. I car camp approximately once or twice a year (spring & fall) for either an extended weekend or an extended week (Saturday to the following week Sunday). I like my camping trips to coincide with either the spring bass or crappie spawn or the fall squirrel season with a few day bass fishing adventures. Luke … I thoroughly enjoy you and Susie and your channel!!! Please keep up the good work!!! God bless both of you!!! Chuck Knight from Atascocita, Texas. 👨‍🌾

    I have the Cosmitto 1.0 from Amazon and OneTigris immediately replaced it under warranty when it leaked the first time I used it (luckily, in my back garden).
    In 2 years of use, the replacement tent leaked only once at the vents, but I was able to repair this with seam sealer on the inside of the storm flap for the vent.
    It's been 100% reliable ever since. It's a little on the heavy side when it's just me on my own, for it's size and rock-solid performance, it's been very tough to knock this tent.
    I've actually had one or two people wandering over at the campsite to compliment it, thinking that it was an ex-military tent because the colour blends into the background!

    I have the 2.0 version and I did as Luke suggested and made some shock-cords for the sides and added some additional lightweight hardware to make the setup easier for me (clip and go). I also used my hot glue gun to make knobs on the tent stake cord as he suggested; that worked great. One point I would like to make with any outing with our tents is this. If you know how hard the ground might want to compensate for that. Take stakes that will work in that ground or cover the bases and take a set of both easy ground and harder ground. I use this tent as my car tent because of the weight, but if the weight is not an issue for you then go for it.

    I have 2 of these now. I slept out in 20 degree weather this spring and was very impressed. I wish it weighted a little bit less and that would make it very nice for back packing. I'm 6'-3" and its barely big enough for me long ways. I strap this tent to the outside of my pack and it rides nicely. The way the doors roll back is my biggest gripe. You will need a couple more stakes if you want to put guyot lines and all other anker points out. I think it was 4 short. This is a great starter tent and I look forward to trying a light weight trekking pole tent in the future. Thanks for all the hard work Luke. Much appreciated.

    I have this tent / shelter. You are absolutely right on 2 things. One, the wind. I've had it set up next to the lake and it was howling. Did not feel a thing and slept great. Two, the stakes. The pulls do need to be better. I replaced the stakes with steel ones due to ground being very hard in my neck of the woods. Great job as always. Thank you Luke.

    I've been able to finally get this tent out for a few trips and am very pleased with it.
    A couple of changes that I made on it:
    *** Added 10mm webbing straps with quick release buckles on each of the doors (4). The straps are attached at the inner velcro loop on the inside and guy connection on the outside, located about 2/3's of the way up the poles. The release buckles are set at the bottom of the loop so that they can be accessed from both inside and out. When the fly doors are rolled up these straps hold them at just the right location. The webbing is wide enough to support without cutting into the fly as a string would.
    *** Put a strip of thick duct tape around the pole grommets located at each corner of the tent and then punched a hole in each one to accept the pole feet. It keeps the pole in the grommet tighter and makes setup easier. Pinching the grommets with pliers to make the opening slightly oval might also work.
    Some people thought that the inverted T zippers would not seal completely, however I noticed that the zippers are continuous - not three individual zippers on each door. This setup allows the zippers to come together tightly with less than one square mm of opening, hardly an issue even with no-see-ums. Having the ability to completely open up both sides of the tent is a huge bonus for access and ventilation.
    I tend to set the tent up with the doors facing E-W so the sun is shaded by the staked door flaps to block out most of the daytime sun (northern latitudes). With two doors its pretty easy to set the door flaps to funnel a cross breeze through the tent.
    The Coyote brown color is perfect for stealth camping. It blends in nicely with most surroundings, and has a pleasing neutral interior lighting when the sun shines through.
    The tent holds up very well in the wind. I scavenged a set of Flyboy clips from an old Kelty Webforce tent to attach guy lines just above the kinks in the tent poles. The clips lock the tent fly to the poles and provide solid guy points. For guy line I use a 2.5mm polyester line (no stretching when wet) and four titanium nail stakes. With this set up the tent held up to 20 mph winds almost without notice. I suspect that it would hold up well up to a gale force wind (30 mph +), but really for a lightweight 3-season tent with single poles that's about as much as anyone can ask.
    The tent is roomy, the space is all very usable, and everything is laid out nicely. Overall an excellent tent. I'm planning to buy another for a backup just in case (especially at this price!).

    After your last review of this tent I added both the gray and brown to my slamazon cart. I have two tents that I use somewhat frequently, an REI Passage and a Teton Mountain Ultra 3 but I like the T doors on the Cosmitto 2.0 and the fact you can sit inside it in a chair. The new One Tigris high back chair which can go to almost ground level or use the legs. It would be pretty cool to use inside this tent if necessary. Thinking I'd go with the brown version once the price comes down a bit.

    I've taken this tent out for a couple weekends and a 3 day backpacking trip. I loved it. Never had issue with the pulls on the stakes or keeping the doors open. The vents however are kind useless, closed or open I get the same amount of air flow. Which I've never had a problem with.

      You should never be storing your tents in their carry sacks anyway and this is especially true for nylon tents. The only worse thing you can do to ensure the waterproofing fails prematurely is put them away wet. Store them loosely in mesh laundry bags so they can outgas and any residual moisture can evaporate and put your own tags on them.

    I've been using a cheap Ozark Trail tent from Walmart, the Clip and Clamp 4, which is about the size of your tent, for the past two years with no leaks and no problems. I've been spending from mid April to mid October in the mountains. I started with a 200 dollar Guide Gear 14 foot teepee that was a disaster. It leaked and started falling apart the first time I used it. So I ran to Walmart to buy a cheap tent to get me by until I could order another tent. For 39.98 I wasn't expecting much, but this thing has been great, so I just kept using it. I'm thinking about getting the 6 person model when it goes on sale because I can't find a better tent for the money.

    I got one of the 1.0 version, yep it leaked. I tried sealing the vents, it still leaked. BUT I really like the tent design so I put a tarp over it in the rain. I am tired of that. I am glad they fixed the tent and ordered the 2.0 version because of HONEST reviews like this one. I use mine for trips to shooting matches, in the field for USAF exercises and general camping. The floor design, size and such are perfect. Now I won't have a leaking roof.

    I use a Coleman fold out cot along with a small table in this tent and I am glamping! Granted, I am 5’7” so sitting up on the cot is not too bad. I just just recently purchased this tent from Amazon, so I have not tested it in the rain yet, but I wanted this tent for a quick set up in established campgrounds when I don’t feel like going to the ground and getting back up again. I have tents like that for backpacking. But I gotta be in the mood!😂 Add an overhead tarp and drop the rain fly then life is good!😊

    Most of us don't have as many tents as you, which makes it easier to identify. The way I did it was this, I have the Rock Fortress in the coyote brown, and I just got the T/C Rok Shield in OD green. If I get this, I'll just get it in the grey.
    Edit: I did get this tent, in the grey so I can tell it apart, and I have just left it out in the back yard for the last 5 days in the pouring rain. Not one drop of water inside. Very impressed overall.

    I was watching the episode where your wife talks about her shoulder, in my life i have healed many women, i guess i should of been a physical therapist lol, but you can see her shoulder is out of alignment in the video, its her back doing this, where her shoulder connects, she has carbon monoxide build up where her shoulder socket connects to back, around her 4th to 6th vertebrae down from her neck, use your thumbs and work it out, if you do it right you and her can literally hear it working, it is painful for both of you, my hands always hurt when i heal, after doing this, make sure to use ice for a bit, then practice sitting and standing focusing on staying straight, its probably caused by the way she sleeps, practice using small pillows to keep the shoulder and back aligned and pressure off that shoulder! Peace!!👍 I am guessing she sleeps on her left shoulder alot, but you can see her left shoulder is pushed in at least 2 inches compared to her right, her back even has a small curve, she needs to focus on reversing this, bones are bendable lol, it just takes awhile and dealing with the pain of reversing it, it will work though! ❤️

    I may be the only one but I prefer the older version Cosmitto for the vents and doors. While I do like the the newer pole shape for extra room in the new tent I still like the older one better. Seam sealing the vent is no big deal. Some other brands dont seam seal at all and people accept that as ok so no issues with the old Cosmitto for me.

    Reflective paracord is a good option for guy lines. It is easy to see at night so you're not tripping over them with a headlamp. Also I usually roll my door flap so the bottom rolls towards the tent so in case it rains it will roll off on the outside instead of soak the entire inside of door flap.

    Other than a slight pole difference, it looks like my Naturehike Mongar 2 tent. Mine came with a foot print that allows you to setup the tarp first if in the rain.

    Here's my experience with the Cosmitto 2.0.
    We camped for 2 nights, my wife, me and our Australian Shepherd... Yes, two adults and a dog.
    Pleasantly surprised, it was perfect. It will be my moto camping tent, solo camping.
    Perfect size, lot's of features, fast set up and fast take down.
    Glad I bought this tent.

    Hey Luke. Great channel. I’ve owned the original version since its introduction. I’ve had it out in several horrible storms and never found it to have the leaking issue. How do the bodies of version 1 vs 2 compare? If folks have a v1 but want to avoid leaks I’m wondering if OneTigris could offer a new fly sans vents? I guess I’m not willing to ditch this gear since it’s never let me down. I guess I could always pack an auxiliary tarp but I just never have seen the major failure. Great job sir and have a great day!

    A not very waterproof tent isn't completely useless. In my part of the country, most years it doesn't rain at all from typically April to mid/late December. An atypical year may have light to moderate rain (by other part of the countries standards) in to as late as March and possibly as early as October.
    It sucks how dry it is here, even the deserts around the region get more rain through the year.

    Bought the Cosmitto 2.0 from Amazon and spent a week in this tent with both heavy rain and in the dry - Its very easy and fast to setup, well ventilated, no condensation and generously spaced for 1 person, wouldn't want to be 2 though unless really close -and I would have liked the vestibules be a bit bigger for shoes and stuff but other than that its incredible value and really felt at home in this nice tent... There is a couple of places where I dont think the stitching is ok on the edges of the fly and I use a plastic footprint as the tent floor seems a bit flimsy (just me, havent leaked or anything but better safe than sorry) - Overall its insane value, love it!

    Waiting to receive my Cosmitto 2.0, it's supposed to be here today. Going on a trip monday for 3 nights to test it out.
    It's going to be my moto camping tent, solo camping. But for next week's trip we'll be two in the tent, wife and I (including the dog 😂). It will be tight but we'll be fine, I'm sure we are going to laugh a whole lot during this trip.
    We are going to buy a large tent for future trips.
    Too bad OneTigris doesn't make large tents with flooring, I would buy one right away.

    Luke if I didn't have the leg problems I have this would be my kind of tent for camping out and I like they changed things on it and maybe they will listen and make the vents better for air flow when they are open, and I was wondering what needs to be done to make this a 4 season tent or early 4th season tent.

    By telling us it is a good backpacking tent we assume the weight is not a problem. Many backpacking tents have the same waterproof rating and weigh only 600 grams or just less than 1 KG. So much more stuff you can carry besides the tent. I do agree this tent is made for camping if you travel by car or bike. A lighter version with carbon materials might be the way to satisfy the most.

    • @TomDutch
      @TomDutch Před 2 měsíci

      Exactly! I own this tent. Took it into the French Alps last year. But half the size, half the weight (or less) for these specific trips would be better. Went to Albania two weeks ago with hubba hubba from our guide, cosmitto 2.0 2.4kg would have been too heavy..

  • @TomDutch
    @TomDutch Před 2 měsíci

    I had this tent out on the edge of a cliff in the French Alps when wind became crazy at night... I was afraid because I was stupid to put my tent so close to the edge when there was no wind.. just a breeze from the valley. However winddirection changed 180 degrees and power increased every hour to a point where I was praying in my tent because I though I'd go parasailing 200 meters down into the valley at 1am at night. But the tent held perfect. Lesson learned.

    Good budget tent for backpackers who have someone with them to split weight with. If you assume a 25 pound pack each, that covers this tent and plenty of gear without being too harsh to lug around. Being big enough for TWO chairs is nice...but I would sit them on some clothing, don't want to tear up the floor.

    What do you recommend for a decent budget hammock sleep system for bikepacking? late spring through early fall? This is being recommended over using a bivy bag.

    • @TomDutch
      @TomDutch Před 2 měsíci +1

      I have DD Frontline hammock with a tarp. Made quite some adjustments to tie it up easy. My friend is a cyclist and uses a Naturehike Cloud Up 1 tent.. personally I'd go for this tent on a bike and not my hammock. I think a small lightweight tent will take less space compared to hammock, tarp etc. I think my friend is way faster in pitching his small tent compared to me and my hammock + tarp. Hope this helps!
