I voted Labor in the lower house, Greens in the senate at the last election, but at the next election I’ll be voting Greens in both houses, on the back of this speech. Well done Max, keep up the fight. You should make a website a documentary where you visit households where people can’t pay their rent. Tell an individuals story then repeat the essence of this speech as a single video, post each video on social media, edit many of these videos together for a feature documentary, and post that online too. Put human faces to this tragedy, lots of them, and disseminate it.

Love this man’s passion! ❤ The housing crisis needs to be addressed with a sense of urgency! Summer is coming, and it is predicted to be hotter than last year. Near my home, there are many individuals and families with children living in cars. No one, especially an older person or child should have to sleep in a hot car in summer! If a death was to occur due to negligence, it would reflect badly on all Australian politicians.

At 41 years old I’ve always tried to avoid politics because I felt there’s nothing to be passionate about it. But this guy man, what a speech he makes me believe there’s actually someone out there fighting for the little guy like me. I’d say something like “he gets my vote “ truth is I’ve always voted greens because I thought they were the “taking care of the environment group”. But to know this guy put his heart on the line makes me proud to know I’ve been making the right choice even if I didn’t know at the time.

Thank you for being our voice. The workers and the poor have been copping the whole "austerity for the country" rhetoric for over a decade but we're the only one's going without. The pandemic brought this home like never before. My friends and I, in particular are angry (bordering on true rage). It's a dangerous thing to take hope from people and when decent, hardworking people can no longer see a potential path to a better future, they start to feel like they've nothing to lose.

I am also a 77yr old on a Pension, struggling as it is and my RE informed me that my Landlord will be putting up my rent by $120 a week at Lease Renewal time in 3 mths, I have paid 4yrs worth of their mortgage (which wasn't huge to start with) and have been a good tenant and now they want to screw me over for every cent. I don't think $450 a week for a "very basic" 2 Bed wooden cottage is very acceptable.
I agree with Max's statement about the banks making huge profits at our expense, and big businesses and corporations are exactly the same, its about time that there was a Cap on Profiteering
Not only should there be a Rent Freeze (which is already too late for some)
but the "rent increases once per year" policy will do nothing as the Landlords will then just double the increase. Have to close all the loopholes.
    Keep pushing!.

There is no excuse for this. Australia should not only be an energy hub with cheap efficient energy we should be a good bowl for all Asia.
We are a rich country. And we have people who can't afford to switch on the lights. We have small business going to the wall because they can't afford energy costs. And we are the most energy rich nation in the world!
We are a rich nation led by incompetent politicians and the people are suffering. While banks, insurance companies and other big business make record profits.
That's the cause of inflation. Not the meagre wage increase people are fighting for. Yet the workers are been punished.

But that is not going to make profit now. But will make profit in 100 years. Again. Nothing can change the way those businesses are running. Nothing can change the way those farms are running. Nothing can change the way those human are consuming their foods and products from those farms. Nothing can stop those farmers from farming sheep on grass lands instead of inside a forest. Nothing can stop those cows farmers to farm their cows in forest instead of grasslands. Nothing can stop those big farmers from turning big patches of lands into a single weats farm. Nothing can stop those farmers from turning a giant rainforest into a corn farm. Just as sad as it sound. As bad as it looks. As depressed as it going to be for the future of "Greening" australia. They are turning australia into a farm. Not a rain-forest. To turn australia into a rain-forest?
