    Jeez! You people have to be dolts! Step 1: Look up who CJ is and what has done in hockey. HE’S CREATED AND PUT A BRAND IN THE NHL! Step 2: Look up the companies he mentions working with at the beginning of the video. I’d specifically recommend Hockey Tron which falls under the WSI umbrella and is owned by Chris Malki. Which also owns Alkali, Sherwood, Gear Hockey, Tron, formerly Verbero (CJ’s previous Company), and a long list of others. You can thank Chris for Hockey Giant and Monkey… Step 3: using a trademarked or copyright logo on a product is not illegal if it is not sold. It’s done 1000 fold in motorsports with logos of companies much larger, greedy, and more powerful than Nike.
    This is one of the smartest and hardest working guys in hockey! And his designs are gorgeous! Need proof? Verbero Cypress stick and the Alkali Cele 1 inline hockey skate to name 2.

      +1 to everything said.
      I’d only add, since I’ve known CJ personally as one of my closest friends now for nearly 25 years, that he’s probably the most passionate person I’ve met in this sport in my long hockey career. Which is saying something as I’ve played at the NCAA and minor pro levels (ice and later in life, roller), a detail I only share to point out the types of people I’ve surrounded myself with in my time in the sport - read: very dedicated, and CJ is at the top of the list in dedication.
      He cares deeply about the sport, its overall health, and just wants to see it grow in unique and sustainable ways.
      Watch the video and just hear him out without jumping to conclusions and passing judgement. He knows what he’s talking about.

    I really hope Nike agrees to go through with this. Bauer and CCM have honestly become so complacent and having Nike as a competitor would force them to have to innovate and so that people wouldn’t just buy the Nike gear because they know Nike

    • @donairsauce2496
      @donairsauce2496 Před 5 dny

      Bauer used to own Nike hockey but got rid of it so odds are if it comes back it'll just be Bauer stuff with Nike logos

    • @tedlysmithers4168
      @tedlysmithers4168 Před 5 dny +2

      Other way around. Nike bought Canstar, which included Bauer and Cooper. Nike was a big driving force in skate and gear innovation. Although not huge, Nike was the first to use an all plastic toe cap. Before that, all skates had plastic with a woven cover. God, I hated putting Hard Toe on skates. The other thing was using alternative materials to build skates.

    • @brianphilippoi349
      @brianphilippoi349 Před 5 dny

      @@donairsauce2496 Nah, it was the other way around, Nike owned Canstar, which included Bauer as well as Micron, and Daoust. Nike sold their hockey holdings when they realized their projections for growth in the sport were off base. They had something like 70% of the market, were driving innovation in skates (Vapor 8, which kicked off the current regime of skates was a Nike thing, and I'm pretty certain a blend of Mega Air 90 and CCM Tacks) and cut deep into Easton's previously dominant lead in composite sticks. But 70% of a much smaller market than they had envisioned wasn't worth it to them, so they sold it to get out. Market share wasn't the problem, market size was. That hasn't changed drastically. Hockey is too difficult to learn for many to stick with it and the price to play has only gone up and up over the years. The street style culture on the side of hockey is nothing compared to other major sports--football (both kinds), basketball, and baseball. Hockey gear is fitting for sci-films (see the original Alien and countless others) where an otherworldly look is required. It's not as easy to translate the look of hockey to the street. I'd be shocked if Nike ever decided to come back.

      @@tedlysmithers4168 Actually, Graf was ahead of Nike on the naked plastic toe caps by almost a decade. They had been doing that since the 80's, already on the Shock Sure 4000s, 501s, and 701s (which were kind of a bridge between 501s and 703s). No wonder Nike copied this since they were trying hard to win Sergei over with more than their money and he was (and appears to be again) a dedicated Graf guy.

    Kudos to the creator for pushing this. A lot of things have to align perfectly for Nike to consider re-engaging ($$$). The next big question is who gets to split the profits. Best of luck.

      As long as nothing is sold you can use a trademarked logo. Plus CJ has been around Hockey a very hot minute. Those companies he mentions at the beginning, are not just small random companies. Look into Hockey Tron’s owner Chris Maliki and see what he created before Tron or the Umbrella Tron falls under. CJ isn’t stepping into this “dumb.”

      Nike got into hockey because of “the inline boom.” When that died they divested all interest and we lost the cool shit they brought to it. I wore my Quest inlines until the bottom of the boot exploded. All I used was quest wood sticks for outdoor inline.

    I'm stunned that your I.P Lawyer hasn't advised you against doing this because what you are doing is stealing intellectual property & selling these skates which will find you in court very quickly.
