Jeez! You people have to be dolts! Step 1: Look up who CJ is and what has done in hockey. HE’S CREATED AND PUT A BRAND IN THE NHL! Step 2: Look up the companies he mentions working with at the beginning of the video. I’d specifically recommend Hockey Tron which falls under the WSI umbrella and is owned by Chris Malki. Which also owns Alkali, Sherwood, Gear Hockey, Tron, formerly Verbero (CJ’s previous Company), and a long list of others. You can thank Chris for Hockey Giant and Monkey… Step 3: using a trademarked or copyright logo on a product is not illegal if it is not sold. It’s done 1000 fold in motorsports with logos of companies much larger, greedy, and more powerful than Nike.
This is one of the smartest and hardest working guys in hockey! And his designs are gorgeous! Need proof? Verbero Cypress stick and the Alkali Cele 1 inline hockey skate to name 2.
Well said. You’ve taken all the words out of my mouth.. that’s a hard task 😅😂
+1 to everything said.
I’d only add, since I’ve known CJ personally as one of my closest friends now for nearly 25 years, that he’s probably the most passionate person I’ve met in this sport in my long hockey career. Which is saying something as I’ve played at the NCAA and minor pro levels (ice and later in life, roller), a detail I only share to point out the types of people I’ve surrounded myself with in my time in the sport - read: very dedicated, and CJ is at the top of the list in dedication.
He cares deeply about the sport, its overall health, and just wants to see it grow in unique and sustainable ways.
Watch the video and just hear him out without jumping to conclusions and passing judgement. He knows what he’s talking about.
I have a cypress and that thing is beautiful
I really hope Nike agrees to go through with this. Bauer and CCM have honestly become so complacent and having Nike as a competitor would force them to have to innovate and so that people wouldn’t just buy the Nike gear because they know Nike
Bauer used to own Nike hockey but got rid of it so odds are if it comes back it'll just be Bauer stuff with Nike logos
Other way around. Nike bought Canstar, which included Bauer and Cooper. Nike was a big driving force in skate and gear innovation. Although not huge, Nike was the first to use an all plastic toe cap. Before that, all skates had plastic with a woven cover. God, I hated putting Hard Toe on skates. The other thing was using alternative materials to build skates.
@@donairsauce2496 Nah, it was the other way around, Nike owned Canstar, which included Bauer as well as Micron, and Daoust. Nike sold their hockey holdings when they realized their projections for growth in the sport were off base. They had something like 70% of the market, were driving innovation in skates (Vapor 8, which kicked off the current regime of skates was a Nike thing, and I'm pretty certain a blend of Mega Air 90 and CCM Tacks) and cut deep into Easton's previously dominant lead in composite sticks. But 70% of a much smaller market than they had envisioned wasn't worth it to them, so they sold it to get out. Market share wasn't the problem, market size was. That hasn't changed drastically. Hockey is too difficult to learn for many to stick with it and the price to play has only gone up and up over the years. The street style culture on the side of hockey is nothing compared to other major sports--football (both kinds), basketball, and baseball. Hockey gear is fitting for sci-films (see the original Alien and countless others) where an otherworldly look is required. It's not as easy to translate the look of hockey to the street. I'd be shocked if Nike ever decided to come back.
@@tedlysmithers4168 Actually, Graf was ahead of Nike on the naked plastic toe caps by almost a decade. They had been doing that since the 80's, already on the Shock Sure 4000s, 501s, and 701s (which were kind of a bridge between 501s and 703s). No wonder Nike copied this since they were trying hard to win Sergei over with more than their money and he was (and appears to be again) a dedicated Graf guy.
Kudos to the creator for pushing this. A lot of things have to align perfectly for Nike to consider re-engaging ($$$). The next big question is who gets to split the profits. Best of luck.
I do miss the Nike ignite hockey skates
Nice mention about the SHL and hockey in Thailand! I used to love my Nike skates and would love to see them back in the sport.
Yeah if this isn't licensed by Nike and any of them go up for sale, I assume the first two models will be named Cease & Desist.
Send a pair of ice skates to Colorado!
Would live to try these!!!
I want the new and old Nikes I love this and hope it works out good for you man
We can expect new higher pricepoint at this time. Maybe signature skates for pro? Haha. I wondered how they will screwed up this time
Great work!
There are alot of hockey lovers who would love to have a pair of custom NIKE skates in their collection!!! Cool stuff...well done!!!! You should try and reach out to Federov...see if he's interested in a new custom NIKE skate....!!!!
Nike can definitely make a come back, and debut their "new' skates with the two Connor's.
Nike should come back mqke the lightest equiptment ever made amd dominate i would wear it all
I loved the mission Betty’s. And their other women’s skate. They are no longer made. Any chance of brining those back? It was one of the few womens specific skates. They are the only skates I ever had that just fit.
I swear I’ve seen newer Bauer gear with a hidden Nike emblem on or in that fine print. Makes sense from what I remember is that Nike never sold Bauer they just split from them and let them go on their own. Maybe wrong about that.
a cool vid. Good luck to Nike- it sucks getting back on the ice after a 20 year break.
Hope you all enjoy this one! Please watch the full video BEFORE leaving a comment. Leave any questions you have below and we’ll work on a follow up video to answer them all. Thanks hockey fam 💪🏾💪🏾
No hate but my Cypress broke in 20 minutes. I'm chapped. I really wanted to like it and it failed me. Wish I could get a reimbursement
This is awesome.
I'm waiting !!!, credit card is Ready to order the Fedorov' one
I'd def get a pair of these. I always wanted the white fedorov's. but had to settle about 15 years later for a pair of black/silver nike zooms.. Were nice at the time, but def outdated technology now.
I want a stick and gloves!
amazing. this guy is my best friend haha
Pavel Barber wore the white ones
verbero is excellent hockey company
Nike would maybe help interest in the sport with kids in my area. Allowing more personality would help imo
This is needed no?
Still got my old Nike inlines and use them all the time, bit worse for wear now. Could do with a new pair to replace them. My son would sell my kidneys for a pair😂
Watch them bring in the CR7 skates or Mercurial Hyper venom skates!!!
Happy for this guy, but @ Nike. Hockey doesn’t want or need Nike Hockey. They should stay out
Nike looks fast asf
Isn't it illegal for these guys doing skates in the brand name of another brand name, Nike should be taking them to court lol
If you click the link , they say they are trying to get a licence for Nike. Only prototypes in the video
I know one of the guys. They do not sell anything which keeps them in the clear.
As long as nothing is sold you can use a trademarked logo. Plus CJ has been around Hockey a very hot minute. Those companies he mentions at the beginning, are not just small random companies. Look into Hockey Tron’s owner Chris Maliki and see what he created before Tron or the Umbrella Tron falls under. CJ isn’t stepping into this “dumb.”
It is not illegal. Also explained in the video (so, you know, watch it first).
Heres the none video watching neighbourhood watch spokesman no one asked for
Great upload!!! A good follow up would be "why Nike left Hockey". I had Nike ignite skates back in the day also had some Bauer x Nike Gloves too. Would be amazing to have Nike back in Hockey!!!
Brilliant !! Suggestion. Difficult to make happen but watch us try 💪🏾💪🏾
Nike got into hockey because of “the inline boom.” When that died they divested all interest and we lost the cool shit they brought to it. I wore my Quest inlines until the bottom of the boot exploded. All I used was quest wood sticks for outdoor inline.
According to Puckmugger (anyone remember him ?) it was a simple case of Nike not making enough money out of ice and inline hockey so they lost interest and just bailed
I have Ice hockey and roller hockey versions , the white ones, you need to fix the tendon guards on them
This can’t be legal
Should make Nasher a custom CBUS roller skate!!
Our household refrains from purchasing any Nike products in any capacity. Besides, they've never been committed to the sport of hockey, and I don't expect that to change.
“Refrains from purchasing Nike” 😂 wow you must live one sad life
@connorpeaslee8586 Nope. Just remain principled and not bowing or succumbing to weak morality. Now, who has the sad and perverted life?
@@nja1758that’s the dumbest comment I’ve ever heard you are delusional it’s hilarious
Don’t worry everyone.. this is coming to life soon save your $$$
I had Nike skates and they were the worst skates I have ever had
putting a nike logo on your equipment can’t possibly be legal. i smell a lawsuit lmfao
Sorry buddy.. Nike walked away from the skate scene for a reason when they acquired Bauer in the early 2000's.
I'm stunned that your I.P Lawyer hasn't advised you against doing this because what you are doing is stealing intellectual property & selling these skates which will find you in court very quickly.
I understand you feel a certain level of attachment from the past & nostalgia, but this is not how you go about this.
But good luck
why do u think he's in Thailand lol no IP over there
He's not selling though...
unless they offer top quality product at half the prices we see now, i say F-U Bring back the 0ne95 at 500$, thats what anyone would ever need...
Nike..... you inconceivable bastards......
Used to have Nike everything now won't touch that woke crap
Nope! I will not support a woke brand.
Watch the video first 🙄
Love it , great video anyone who brings something great to hockey has my vote , and as a redwing fan i fully back the colorways 💪👍🏒
