- Grindelwald , At the middle of Switzerland, is one of the most Classic and traditional ski resorts in world.
In this video, we will show you important facts you need to know before planning a vacation in Grindelwald, and if you stick around until the end of the video, you’ll get some great tips that will help you make better decisions, save time and most importantly, money!
The closest airports to Grindelwald are Zurich, with a transfer time of 2 hours; Basel, with a transfer time of 2 hours and 10 minutes, and Geneve with a transfer time of 2 and a half hours.
If you fly into Zurich or Geneve airports you have the option of taking a train to Grindelwald directly from the terminals.
Grindelwald is a part of the Jungfrau ski region which comprised of 210 km of ski runs and divided to 3 ski area: Muren- Schlichthorn, with 55 km of ski runs, First ski area, with 55 km of ski runs, 5 of them are ski routes, and the main area, Grindelwald-wengen, with 102 km of ski runs.
the village of Grindelwald lies between the 2 latters ski areas at the altitude of 1034 meters
out of the 210 km of runs, 78 are blue, 104 red and 28 blacks
Grindelwald- Wengen ski area, aka Kleine schidegg- manlichen ski area, is built like a circle of runs around the the Manlichen- Lauberhorn ridge and recommended for the intermediate skiers. the area is charmful and you can see mountain trains while you ski at the foots of the eiger , Monc and Jungfrau.
You can also ski in to the pedestrian village of Wengen.
The whole area looks like a living real size electric toy train model.
Kleine Scheidegg is a train station in the mid of the ski area at the altitude 0f 2061 meters.
from here you can take the highest train line in Europe that travel to the top of Europe .
by the way, you can buy the ticket for the top of Europe for 61 CHF, which is about half the price, if you buy skipass for 3 or more consecutive days.
One of the cons of the Grindelwald- Wengen ski area is that it is quite a long journey to get from the village to the ski area, but if you will stay longer you will see a solution for that.
The Jungfrau region has more than 50 km of sledging runs, the largest number we ever encounter in a ski region.
The first ski area is the area north of Grindelwald and where the beginner slope is located, as well as the longest toboggan run in the world, with a length of 15km.
The first area ha a unique attraction like the First glider and the First flier. As well as the cliff walk. It also
has the most amazing views for our opinion and usually get more sun than the other ski areas in the Jungfrau region.
It’s also the location of white elements snow park.
The First ski area is recommended for advanced skiers and the freestylers.
The 3rd ski area called Murren- Schilthorn , and is quite a long journey from Grindelwald.
In this ski area you will have the highest pick in the skipass, Piz Gloria at the altitude of 2970 meters, and is famous because of the James Bond movie “in her majesty’s sercret service”
There is a whole James Bond world over there and many interactive attractions and real props from the film.
this pick also has a cliff walk of itself.
the snow here is the best of the 3 ski areas at the end of the season because of the altitude.
The ski area has also a snowpark with an air cushion named skyline snow park.
the ski area is named about one of the most amazing villages in the world, Murren which can only be reached by a cable car and sits at the bottom of the ski area and above a huge cliff.
The village of Grindelwald is the largest in the area and is a center of winter sports and mountaineering.
It is charmful and kept the tradition look.
The best apre ski in the mountain is Tipirama at the Kleine Shidegg,
In town you can go to Avocado or to Skilehrer ski bar where all the ski instructors goes after a day of work.
We where there at April but we heard it is better on high season.
So, before we’ll wrap up, here are our numbers for Grindelwald:
For snowboarders: 7
Advanced skiers: 7.5
Intermediates skiers: 8
Beginners: 8
Freestylers: 8
Free riders: 7.5
Night life: 6.5
Apres ski :6.5
Resort charm: 9.5
Grindelwald is kind of a mix between ski resort and world-famous traditional alps experiences and you can see many tourists for all over the globe riding with you every morning on the mountain train.
Our total score for Grindelwald as a ski resort is 8.5 and could have been higher if the connectivity between the ski areas will be better.
If you are planning a ski vacation, we urge you to wait until December 2019 when the
new Manlichen 12-passenger gondola will replace the old gondola, and cut the lift time
in half, or even wait for Dec 2020, where a whole new 14-passenger gondola will be
running from the same base, directly to the Eigergletcher, cutting the lift time to that
area, from today’s 47 minutes, down to just 20.

It's rare to see a ski resort that has that classic feeling AND a great ski park. Beautiful!
I just LOVE the part where you tell the "how to get there" guides. They are SO useful for people coming from outside of Switzerland!
I’ve been to grindelwald 5 times now and i think you’re right about that there is almost no apre ski but the villages look really cool and just what you expect. The new lifts they’re building Will be really Nice for people who just want to ski, but i think the okder ones and the train look a lot better for the people who are not in a hurry. It was actually pretty Nice to sit down in your private gondel and just enjoy the view
Love your ski series. Would be awesome to see these towns in summertime too!
such an Iconic resort
Wow. Didn’t know about this place and it looks amazing!
what an amazing place!
Wow, on my must visit list
We’re going to Grindelwald for the sixth time this year. The place is just so beautiful and awesome. Its a fun area for everyone, because there are both a lot of pistes and a lot of hiking trails.
Ayo u going this year as well ?
@@justrandom6499 yes. We will go in february.
Good stuff, appreciated!
Big like.. liked the jumps
We also visited Switzerland but during Spring. ❤️We did a video of our visit as well. We stayed in Lucerne and travelled by bus to Interlaken and Grindelwald to have the best view of the Swiss Alps. Its really very nice. Everything is so clean and laid back. Feels like we are in a movie scene. Every angle looks like a postcard. 😍😍😍
hi ba Ya tv,
I totally agree. i think Swiss, and the alps are most beautiful at the summer.
good luck with your channel😘❤
Amazing view!
Awesome resort!
I liked skiing down to Grindelwald the best of these resorts. Hoping to go again in January with the excellent Oak Hall Christian Holidays. Missed out on Kitzbuehl last season because of the plandemic.
Great video !!
amazing view
Wicked! 😍
Great, thanks.
Been there twice and want thirds!!!
Loved this place!
A video for Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis would be very useful.
What is the name of the dubstep track that starts playing when you talk about the white element snowpark?
Grindelwald - First is completely separate from the rest. You need a bus to get there.
Then you need to take a long cablecar up there. The runs at the very top are quite flat. I had to climb back up to the top😮, because my snowboard stopped dead and it was pretty much a whiteout.
Snowboarders 7? I'd say 5 at max. There is absolutely no way this resort is 8.5 out of 10.
The Wengen area is better rest of the areas on the ski pass are better. Kleine Scheigedegg for example.
I preferred to go over to Murren, but it's a train journey away.
Oh and don't waste your time with the James Bond experience. I'm being as polte as possible.
At least the views on the Murren side of map are spectacular 👌🏽
Thanks for your comments. the ratings are for a vacation with the whole Jungfrau region ski pass, sleeping in Grindelwald. do you think we should make a new review while staying in Wengen?
I really like your videos but I think there is so much room for improvement with not much effort. I think that you should talk more in the vid and make it more information dense. When you have the money, buy a better camera. Otherwise amazing work and big potential. Thumbs up.
love your videos about ski resorts, it helped me with booking my own holiday. but, could you rate ski resorts for disable and sit skiers too in the future.
we will try to do it, from our next videos we will shoot, what things, for example you would like us to check?
I only been in La Plagne, where I know, how well prepared for disable skiers. The most interesting things would be - are there ski schools and rentals for disable people? Accessibility of the resort/town for wheelchair users. Accessible accommodations. Even some information would be helpful. Thank you
Going here for the first time next month. I think I made a good choice
Did you get to go or did corona ruin your holiday?
Proper Gander I actually went 3 weeks before the lockdown but the weather was horrible so lifts were only open 1 day I was there
So maybe it is time for my first ski vacation in Switzerland..
I just opened a savings account. My goal for next winter. 1 1/2 weeks here then 1 1/2 2weeks Zermatt.
Для того чтобы получить то, чего вы хотите от жизни, совершенно необходимо сделать первый шаг: решить, чего именно вы хотите.
Which month did you visit ? Would mid-march still be good for Skiing?
Are you guys going to do Verbier?
Cost? Whats the price of a lift ticket, food on the hill and accommodation?
6 days skipass of grindelwald -wengen skipass will cost you 307CHF or 278CHF if you are senior(over 62y"o)
247CHF for juniors ( 16-19) 155CHF for children (6-15)
the extended skipass(Jungfrau sportpass) will cost you 367, 331,294,204CHF respectively, the food on the mountain is about 10-20% higher than in most French or Austrian resorts.
I'll be there in the beginning of march, the ski pass is also pretty expensive (around 364chf for 6 days)
How long would it actually take to get from Grindelwald to Piz Gloria? Is it fastest if you take the train to Lauterbrunnen and then the gondola up?
probably is faster as you say. better recheck with the locals
@@SkiResortsVideo I went on monday, it was actually faster with the gondolas. Its a pretty long but beautiful journey to Schilthorn, I was back in Grindelwald around 5pm
What are the best blue runs in the Grindelwald/first ski area?
schiltabfahrt with amazing views, and bort-talabfahrt that goes down to village (slashy in March)
These are useful, thank you...but could you stop the continuous disco music in the background....it makes it difficult to hear everything clearly
is it really Disco though?
How do you have that 3d map with the ski runs?
FATMAP
I am going there Feb 2022
have fun, amazing resort, and now all the new lifts have been built
