Please take off the ring and watch, just watching you do this makes me remember the time my wedding ring almost burned my finger off when it arched power to ground back in 1988 when I was still a journeyman electronic technician. You are doing GREAT !! on the videos that I see you hosting keep up the great work my friend.

Holy capacitor bulge Batman.... while watching this video , realized that several components were covered by the support strut.. removed it and the exact same capacitor that was bulged on your board was the same one on mine!!!! Bonus! will check for all the continuity , cold solders , etc....but ....thanks

Heres what I am looking at when its the IR function board. Unfortunately the power strip going to the board isnt one with wires, its one of those flat cables. Can I snip those just like I would be able to snip a wire setup?

Thanks for the prompt reply! The reset did not fix the problem :( I did some more research and it appears that the problem is either with the H-Board (Input) or the DG-Board (Digital Processing). I am going to start with the H-Board since it is only a little over 20 bucks. In the mean time can you recommend some make/models for the "audio/video" surround receiver?

Thanks for all the work and information you post. My 50" plasma went down yesterday. Sound but no pic. After seeing you online, I removed the back. All the caps you browse over look ok. I know they could still be bad.I'll get a meter and check all and the fuses next week. You don't mention or check the three large brown caps on the center board. (250V 850uf) One of mine, appears to be swollen. Could that be the culprit?

Hi Tampatec and thanks for sharing. Really helpful. I have sound and power but no picture problem with Hitachi HDS69 55" Plasma. 5 yrs old. The only online help I could get on this model suggested replacing upper and lower "buffers". I suspect - have not opened tv yet - that it is Capacitor problem as per your Samsung video. Would appreciate any input on what buffers are and is it a possible problem and also how easy/hard is it to replace a bulged capacitor? Many thanks.

Another thing I found today was that when the Vs and Va power was tested and neither got up to voltage and then slowly went back down to zero even though TV was still on (with no picture, of course) this happened with X sustain disconnected and with both disconnected. If Va and Vs are not right does that mean Power Board or will the Vs and Va get to voltage without a the sustain boards connected?

With the back off I get a green blinking Led, five times wait a short period then it repeats it, on and on. Hello I have a Samsung plasma 50" TV and replaced all the boards and I get power but I'm not getting any picture. Can this be from not having something connected the correct way? Also, the only board that I did not replace is the one that is next to the Y board.

I dont know if you even check these comments anymore, but here goes nothing. The tv had trouble starting, so i replaced 2 swollen capacitors on the powerboard and now it turns on fine. The TV turns on fine, there is audio, but there is no picture. Do you think switching that fuse might work, or could it be that If I broke something on the power board that it causes it to not show picture ? Also , i lifted the TV when the lid was off only from the sides, could it have bent the screen, so its not working properly now ?

if tv speakers cut in and out on all TV's inputs like- DVD input and cabletv inputs audio too then check TV main board, most main board can have loose solder joints or failing amplifier part or overheating.

    Hello,
I have a May 2010 LG 60PK250 with what appears to be a power supply issue. The standby light Comes on, turns off, on, off, then stays on.
I received this TV used/broken. After inspection it appears it had some sort of surge through the main board. There were 2 blown diodes on the back side and a red audio connection had some black on it as well as a blue connecter. Not sure what caused these to apparently burn or Get really hot. I have replaced the main board and connecting cable from the power supply to main board. had a green light come on the logic board for a brief period of time first time firing it up after installing the new board. Now back to relay click on the power supply and only standby light coming on.
Not sure what to try next, Set had a significant amount of dust on the boards.
    Thanks,
    Jon

Great video, thanks!! My Samsung plasma powers on, but there is no picture or sound. All capacitors look and feel good. I checked the Vs and Va voltages on my power board and they hold steady at what the sticker says they should be. I also checked most of the fuses (I apparently missed 1 or 2 based on your video). However, one of the X board heat sinks gets dangerously hot. I had someone tell me either the X board or the plasma screen is bad and there's no way to determine which one it is. Is that true or do you know of way to figure out which is bad? I don't want to take a chance on buying a new X board (that I can't return) if the plasma screen is bad.

when tv parts overheat they fail so use freeze spray to locate what part is failing after 10 minutes of tv being on, once sprayed on that part (transistor or ic, ect) the tv screen should come back on.. don't worry electronic freeze spray won't short out boards.

Hello tampatec. Thanks for the informative videos as I've been able to repair 2 LEDs and 1 LCD with your help. I'm working on my first plasma tv now. I've acquired a samsung plasma tv model PN60E550D1FXZA. When the TV has not been used or is "cool" it turns on with no problems and will stay on for as long as I want. Once I turn it off and immediately try to turn it back on while it's "hot" the screen will not light up but I will hear sound from the speakers. Per your plasma videos you've mentioned that when you have sound but not picture it's usually the Y sustain board. Do you still think that it's still the y-sustain board if so how can I test it to determine if the part is bad.
With the help of your videos Ill open it up tomorrow and take voltages when the tv is "hot" and will not turn on and see if I find any bulged capacitors or any noticeable abnormalities. Thanks again for your help.

The power button normally is red for standby then turns blue when powering up but for some reason it goes from red to purple. I hear a clicking but the screen doesn't come on and is black as if it's off. Any help please. Not sure if I should just replace it.

The little light on the receiver comes on to let you know the power is on but the screen stays dark. I read that the y subs board is the most common problem but I'm not sure exactly how to test it. Can you tell me how to test the board?

QUESTION????? My T.V have a delay when u turn it on, meaning u can hear every thing but u can not see no picture till 8 minutes after. The reason I know it take 8 minutes it's cause I time it my self and before it give a clear pic, it will flicker for 10 to 15 seconds before it will give a clear picture. Do u think it's the same problem or what and I check all the cap and none of them is mess upp

Hi, I am having a no picture issue with my LG 60PA6550 Plasma TV. I have fully inspected everything per your videos that I can say the following. The STBY light is on when the set is off. The TV powers on and the STBY light goes out. I get the relay click and a slight buzz from the Y and Z boards. Pressing the INPUT select button changes the buzz tones a bit. The voltages are all correct except the STBY voltage when the set is off is 3.2V but when the set is on it is 5.1V?? Seems wrong to me. The set was moved from a stand to a wall mount and was handled but not dropped or anything but then never showed a picture since. I guess I am concerned the screen is dead due to being moved. I hate the idea of changing all the boards to find out that the screen is broken itself. Any ideas?

I have an AOC L26W861 TV and I had a red line in the center of the screen. After the TV was on for awhile the line would disappear. About a month ago the TV screen went black. When I turn it on I get a red light and that all. I open it up and check the AC & DC current on the power supply board and it appears OK. I did a visual check of all capacitors and the rest of the boards and couldn't find a thing. I would appreciate any suggestions you mite have.
    Thank You,

Hi I have been watching your videos all day trying to figure this out. I have a 2 y,o. 43" Samsung plasma that will not start but tries 2 or 3 times and red front light goes solid and then power does nothing unless disconnected/reconnected . X sustain board powers through Y sustain. When I disconnect power to only x sustain board, TV starts and runs w/o picture. Same result when Y Sustain disconnected. No bulging caps or other obvious visual cues. Is it the X Sustain or possibly something else? Is this thing trash or salvageable? Thanks!

I am able to display SD Card information and also display the TV menu, but just get black screen when cable input is used. Is this likely a Y board problem? Also there is NO blinking red light (it just stays solid red).

When I turn in on it clicks once then video (like vertical lines comes on the right hand side and then I press the buttons on the side then I get blue jittery screen) also a loud speaker static sounds comes on suddenly and then it then clicks and turns off.
What is the issue with this?
I have opened the back up and tested disconnected every wires from the powder supply board (pspf531801A) and then connected one by one and tested it would only click when I connected the main board (the one with the vga and scarfs and other connectors ).
I was wondering if you could help me out.

Hi I have a LG PDP42x2 Plasma. Sound is there but no Image whatsoever. I checked the fuse on the Y-sustain board and it was blown. I replaced the fuse and the TV poweron light will be green for about 3 seconds and then turn back red. When I remove the fuse the TV has sound again but no Image. Is the Y sustain board faulty. I dont want to buy a new board if its not the problem since it is such an old TV

I too have a Samsung plasma tv PS43D450A2 model with horizontal black lines in the middle part of the screen. The tv is fully operational.
The voltages on all test points of the power supply, y-main board test points read fine according to plasma screen stickerwith Va, Vs and Ve readings. The X main voltage at test point XS-E is 78V
But when i test the voltages across the smd resistors R5149 to R5154 and smd zener diodes D5504 to D5506 (marking PJ1389) on the Y-buffer board, i found that the voltage is fluctuating between 45V and 30V. It keeps dancing up and down on all the resistors and diodes across the y-buffer board.
I felt the ICs on the board with my fingers and they were all warm. Nothing too hot or cold. Is this a voltage regulation issue from the y-main board or a y-buffer board issue? Little confusion here ;-) The heart beat led light on the logic board is good. I have tried re-seating the flex cables on the y -buffer too. The only thing bothering me is the fluctuation in voltage across the resistors/diodes on the y-buffer board.
Could it be bad capacitors on y-main board? But the test point voltages on the y-main read ok. So the confusion haha.
Any feedback will be really helpful.
    Thanks n regards

I have a Panasonic Viera 42in Plasma tv. Model 42st30 1080P 600HZ A. For a year or so it the picture and sound would suddenly go off, come on for a period of a few seconds to several minutes, then go off again. It might cycle through this for 15 minuted to several hours then stay on. This occurrence is random. It may be several weeks to a month before it recurs. I have had the cable company replace the box several times with no effect. A week ago it stopped completely both sound and picture. The power light stays lit. The remote doesn't turn the tv on or off. The mechanical button in the front doesn't work. I have pulled the plug without effect. The power light remains on when I plug it back in. Any suggestions?

The audio is not affected but the picture takes 5-10 minutes to appear, but when it does, everything is fine until the set is turned off for a few hours. Does that match your symptoms? Were you able to identify the source of this problem? Any info you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

press tv menu, if tv menu doesn't show it can be y-sus board, get at shopjimmy.com but contact shopjimmy techs to confirm Y board is most likely fix. on "Vs" pin should read about 190 dc volts on power board to Y board.
