As any parent knows, we all have those nights where our kids challenge us. Congrats on powering through and getting it done. (I found that coffee was my best friend during those moments. I was still cranky, but a wide awake cranky 😂)

FINALLY !! A Clickbait title that had me laughing 😂 instead of worrying. Your sense of humor adds A Lot to watching your Expert communication of the work. Thanks.
It’s OK, Ray - we’re here for you.
Here, here, but not all there.
Dang Ray you really are Human. It'll get better, promice.
Right we here for you buddy
Ray, Watching you tighten up the torsion bars reminded me of when I worked in an auto salvage yard in the early 70s. When things got slow we would get a junk Chrysler going and tighten up the torsion bars as much as we could to get the best ground clearance in the front. Then we would race through the yard. Lots of fun when you are 18.
Being a parent only happens once and a dad is essential for a good solid kids life!
Getting ever closer to the 500k subs, keep it up Ray. I still don't know how you keep up with where all the fasteners go when you have a job this big. No matter how organized you may be, it seems like a multiple day job encourages forgetfulness lol.
Its a skill.
When we mechanics enjoy our tasks, we love and care for everything we work on.
Many fasteners we remember, some it comes down to a system and placement order as we dissassemble.
Also...
Its on video, so rewatching the work helps us know where the right bolt goes...
LIKE the song says…”LOVIN EVERY MINUTE OF IT”….never will I miss an episode…thanks 🇺🇸👈🚘
Anyone else appreciate the quiet background since ray left that shop? Miss the doodoo doo but something relaxing about just one person working
Phew Ray this has been a great series, you are one heck of a great mechanic. It's too bad I don't live in Florida you would be the number one guy to go to.
It's all good Ray, we got this. Got rust in our eyes, tired arms, kept dropping stuff, but it is finished. We are all here to help.
I get unreasonably excited when that intro rolls.. like it's just an auto repair video... but you make my morning(afternoon working nights) routine fun and informative. You have helped me with confidence and information in repairing my own car.
Good content Ray. People need to see these kinds of videos, so they understand why repair bills are what they are.
Hi Ray! Just to let you know, I don’t mind the loud noises, in fact, I kinda like them. I usually get into the shop pretty early. Then I put on one of your videos, turn it up a bit, then go get a cup of coffee. After a while, the shop manager wanders in. Hearing all the ruckus usually puts a smile on his face. Thanks for all the videos!
Hope the little one gets better fast
Hey Ray, that has been a great series. There was a ton of stuff wrong with that truck. It was a very daunting job and the truck seemed to fight you every step of the way. It seemed a bit more cooperative when you were putting it back together. Great job Ray. Cheers!
Loved the flavor (rust) fall when you were tightening the cross members.
Yep. That poor thing needs a good Fluid Film soaking to slow the rust and extend its life after all that work.
I think my favorite part of your videos is the ongoing monologue explaining in detail what you’re doing on the various jobs. Another great video!
For the efforts you put in on the videos , I hope your business is extremely profitable. You are a good man Ray
"Last Video! I'm finished!" Okay Mr. Rainman Scotty. Hahahaha
Even sleepless you have the right stuff😊. Watching 4 episodes on the Tacoma was neither boring or excessive.
Good work . Many things to fix . You got them all fixed 100 percent .😊
These types of videos are fine with me, it's interesting to see how things get fixed and very informative. I know it's rough sometimes with young kids, worrying about them when they get sick and trying to get enough sleep at night. It gets easier when they hit 5+ yrs old so just try to get catch up on the sleep when you can for now.
I hope so mine has like 4.5 years left
You found a large amount of floor space that I did not realize was available to you. Aldis' ruffle cut chips are top of the chart for me.
Aldis' new dill pickle chips have way too much Distilled white vinegar powder in them, tore my lips up, made the skin peel, very painful.
I love steering, alignment, wheel / tire road force install and balancing and suspension work....I guess I am weird! I hope this guy appreciates all the work you did to make the truck go no leaking down the road! This is has been a very enjoyable series Ray, outstanding learns!
Ray we all have days like you're having . Just hang in there.nit will get better.
Great job Ray. Love these full long videos.
That spider was running for his life getting away from grumpy Ray!😄
Awesome video series on this truck. Your videos relax me like I can't explain. Thanks for your daily uploads and the great content.
WOW I thought i was the only one that felt that way, when i get up in the morning i start one of his videos and grab my coffee. 👍
His voice does have that effect on me as well. Calms me and makes me laugh. Great combo.
@@MrJet30 same! LOL I have a cup of coffee and watch one of his videos and start my day afterwards.
I am sorry your daughter was not feeling good! I hope she is better! I have been through that with my 4 daughters and some of my grandchildren! But I had to laugh when you busted out in song wishing you were hung over! Great job on the work you did on this Nissan!
Damn it Ray I wish I lived closer to y’all. It would be an honor just to come out and help you free of charge. Days like this you and Wife Unit could use the help. Clean up shop, run errands etc. It would just be cool AF to meet y’all.🙂
just don't bring butthead !!
@@DeepakKumar-lv4te Agreed! He’d ruin everything!
I remember a day when infant child kept us up all night. I fell asleep at a red light driving to work.
I’ll buy you a coffee!
Oh, man, I loved this. I never had the full lift and trans-jack luxury, but I had many late nights, where lying on the floor, in a puddle of coolant, struggling with the wrong tool was preferable to crawling out to get the right one.
I fully sympathise.
You amaze me, finding the energy to record all this, edit it all together and post it for our entertainment.
I was always pooped when I finished work, so eating and sleeping were all I was fit for.
Nowadays I only do that level of vehicular work on friends and family vehicles, so those sort of nights are history, for me.
But I’m still a slogger, just on boats and mostly the electrical systems, so heavy equipment is usually not required, but late nights certainly are.
I’m injured at the moment, so living vicariously, through your videos. Thanks for being there .
You are a glutton for punishment but you do it with class, humor and style. Well done! Thanks
How many hours of labor did you rack up on this thing?
70 hrs
👍👍👍
I'm sure a lot of hours
👍👍👍
Just enough hours to get payed.
One very valuable lesson I've learned from watching Ray's videos is to understand that jobs will frequently fight you all of the way. The trick is to resist the temptation to let frustration rule you because it can cloud your judgement and make you sloppy. Instead, accept the frustration, laugh at it, and move on.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series as I did all the same stuff to my son's 01 Frontier last year with exception of the rear main. It's definitely a major project.
We all have them no sleep days when the kiddos are sick Hopefully your day gets Better Brother @Rainman Ray's Repairs
Welcome back Mr. Cotter pin!
Get some rest Ray. We have all been there buddy. Good work as always.
Loved this series! Then again, all the series, one off’s are great!
When Ray sleeps, he does count 🐑. He counts CLICKS.
Well done Sir.
Ray lives his life a quarter turn at a time.
Welcome to the grumpy old man club.
I joined that club a while ago.
I am blaming the over-active solar flares and EMF at the moment for the recent flare up of my grumpy old man activity
Love ya Ray, grumpy or not, I watch you most days, Thanks for bringing us along.
Remember you "get" to have a bad attitude...you don't "get" to share it. Words I like to live by. (it works)
Just remember every nut and bolt gets you closer to more banks stuff
Good to see you finish this one been a bit of a job
Gee Ray, when a grumpy day strikes me, I spend time cleaning and organizing all my tools on the cart that stays 2 steps away so I don't have to go extra steps during the day to fetch them !
Sorry to hear about your sick kid. As the father of a 3 year old I can sympathize with your pain
Buddy I’m right there with you!! I’m running on 37 hours no sleep!! I have 2year old and a 9 month old both not feeling well, to be polite!!! The grumpiness is inevitable!!! But breathe and this too shall pass as they say!!
Ray you are hilarious with out sleep 😂
This guy must really love his 23 year old Frontier. I'm sure he spent a lot of money on all these repairs.
Annnnnnd now I can't get the mental image of Ray doing Yoga out of my head...
Ray, great job nursing that great truck back to health.
I know your kids will appreciate it, one thing I know is I have massive appreciation for what you do for your audience.
Always a good day when the engine is alive and all the hard work to re seal the engine was successful @Rainman Ray's Repairs
TL;DR Ray: I rebuilt this entire truck and it's ready to go. Bring multiple credit cards when you come to pick it up. LOL.
Great series Ray!
I just realized my inner voice that tells me how to work on stuff has become Rainman Ray's voice.
Your central NY fan
Ray, it sucks sometimes being a parent but you mostly have great times with the kid units as well. I'm sure you know this BUT the good news is now that you are your own boss, you CAN go back home and go back to bed. In your other job you wouldn't have been able to do that. REST WELL, bud.
Great work sir on both family and business ends, can't wait for the next. Well as long as it doesn't try to take you out. Also Coke can.
LOL, I use the "Killing me Smalls" line all the time! Glad I'm not the only one! Sorry about your sleepless night, Ray!
Hey, Ray. It's okay -- we've all had days like your day in this video. It's cool, brother. It's called "life," Little Units, and sometimes, the two don't get along -- which is why the Little Units have you, Dad Unit, to deal with things.
And sometimes, we all go without sleep. I mean, I'm a chronic insomniac, so the "no sleeping" is part of my world, lol.
Good video. I love these " Rebuilds"😊😂😮
Damn you Ray!!!!!....now I want Ruffles!!!!
Great video Ray. After doing something like this and seeing no leaks gives great job satisfaction.
Hope the little unit is feeling better. Get some sleep. Great series on the Nissan.
Great video
Where are yours?
@@FollowingtheCliffNotes lol. I don't think people want to see me doing laundry and cleaning the house
@@wifeunit I think they enjoy seeing the day to day life but I know as a mother that you guys stay busy.
Love that "Gravity!"
That little deadblow you used to tappy-tap the steering bits is the cutest thing I've ever seen. Did you hold it with a towel so it would be clean to go back into Wife Unit's jewelry box? 😁 All BS aside, that was a bear of a project. Nice job.
Ray, you are a wonderfully honest human being that we can relate to and empathize with.
Thank you
Nice job Ray 👏👏👏👍👍👍
Ya bro, I know what that is like... I got about 17 minutes of sleep last night too. It took me 7 cups of coffee to hit your like button today.
People who fight a lot of corrosion in their area are suggesting leaving slack in the cotter pin so after it is bent to hold, it can slide around in the hole.
I've learned a lot watching your videos. I don't recall you ever mentioning how many hours each job takes.
Labor, parts, and time guide is customary for writing an estimate.
Changes that occur can adjust the actual.
The shop tries to get it completed faster with tools and ingenuity.
Hopefully, a profit results so they can pay their costs and labor.
If profit occurs they can re-invest in improving their place of business.
When labor becomes excessive the shop may lose their profit trying to meet their estimate.
They don't discuss much with it except with the person who is paying his or her bill.
Everybody may have an opinion but they're not doing the work or paying the bill.
Mind over matter
How many hours???? Many hours!
All the hours.
You can usually guess how long it takes by listening to how many Linkin Park albums he goes through.
@@dannylinc6247 I am really curious if this truck is worth spending so many shop hours on it, if I was doing the job myself maybe but just a timing belt change is around $700 to $900.
13:27 Pro-tip: This is where Neodymium magnets out of old hard drives from old computers come in REALLY handy! Once you've fed the bolts in from the top, you drop the magnet down in over top of it, and it holds it in place until the nut is threaded. I have saved myself COUNTLESS headaches doing it this way, it's usually not that hard to find a place selling old/junk HDD's to tear down. If not, finding one is just an Amazon click away.
I use several around my house. Toss one on the fridge with a clip super glued on it, leave yourself notes, warning, "do not" try to remove note quickly.
Get some rest, you deserve it Ray.
Always enjoy watching you work how you explain what your doing as you disassemble and reassemble what your working on keep doing what you do thanks again ray
Prayers for your baby.
Do we like the content, Heck yes!!! Great job Ray👍👍
I am so glad I'm not the only one that gets that looming feeling of death. And then sometimes after you send it off with a customer you still have that feeling in your gut. Like did I do this? Did I do that even though you went through the checklist like a thousand times?
18:58 Spider: Mosquito sighted. ATTACK!
Feels good finishing a longass job, just finished putting together a far too new Toyota Land Cruiser at work after replacing the balance shaft assembly on it. What a chore of a job! Also tempted to start my own business, tidying up after and yelling at the apprentices is getting really old
When you get old..
Your already grumpy...love. your vlogs very entertaining
When one of my favorite shows is on the TV, and I get notifications that you or Wife Unit posted a new video, the TV gets muted so that I can watch your post. 😂👍 Your word salad is PEEFECT and I envy your patience and professionalism in your videos.
Word Salad is an excellent album by Fischer Z !
Not to speak for everyone else but I like these videos I especially like the longer videos. I'm not a mech but I do enjoy learning and just watching it's kinda relaxing the only thing missing is the shop smell which I love. My Uncle owned a shop called Mr. Transmission here in Santa Fe NM and I loved going there and I miss the smell, shops just have that certain smell if you know you know...
I know the smell. I did auto body and frame repair for 46 years. I still find myself visiting a body shop (just to smell it all) getting quotes for body repairs that will never get done. I am medically unable to do my own repairs anymore. All those years wrecked my body.
Great video Ray and fully understandable. Hope kid unit is feeling better soon.
Hope your babies feel better soon. You have a lot more patience than I do.
Mmm... Cool Ranch Doritos sound lovely as well as a cold beer.
Epic series of videos on the Nissan Ray even though the last slog was a a bit tough with lack of sleep.
This was a great series.
" You're killing me Smalls!"
Thank you Ray…..
You are the best….
Agreed. Ruffles rule; especially with sour cream and onion soup mixed for a delicious dip!
Been a few months saw I saw that US federal debt counter... oh dear... Hope little one gets well soon. and don''t worry too much about being a grumpy old man, I doubt you'll be as grumpy as me... I'm killing it. Time for another bottle of wine and a cigar to try to cheer myself up... got to spanner my own bike tomorrow too... new caliper seals for the front braking system to install. fek 8C tomorrow...I'm still gonna be grumpy tomorrow. At least I don't have to do anything if I don't want to. One advantage of being retired. As for your cameraman and lighting... still much better than mine. Been biking since '79 well before we had mobile phones, so we had to fix the older bikes that broke down more often in the rain at 2 AM, and as I started making my website back in 1998 the photography and video stuff we had was expensive just for 200x500 pixel stills.... it's hard to keep up with the tech especially when youtube gives me "age restrictions" for little things like using a home made clutch splitting tool or a vintage bike show where there is no swearing, not nudity and I wasn't even smoking a ciggie let alone a spliff or cigar! These days I don't care, I'll smoke with my stogie in my mouth
P.S. I saw about 3 years ago that the US finally paid all the debt off for the war... meaning your civil war, not any of the ones after that, but it is a start
The real question is not how many hours Ray spent on repairs.
Instead, how many hours is left in that frame?
Great job Ray. You stayed the course and worked it threw.
Wohoooo it's done 🎉🎉🎉🎉 it was in good hands that we'll go on for another million miles.
Ray...you need to call the fluid cabinet ...The Juice Bar !!!
Great work Ray. Thank you for the Nissan content.
Ray whatever you do has the knack of educating & entertaining in equal measure. I like the series format but it doesn't seem to suit the instant gratification often preferred. Always do what makes you happy first & hopefully it will make others happy too. Fight the Al Gore Rhythm....... 😜
ZZZZZZZ YAWN Sorry Ray, Tired today...the wife kept me up! Kidding. Great job and even when exhausted you have an outstanding work ethic...good job.
