    Seems like the old videos of 30hz vs 60hz vs 144hz they just replaced 30hz with 144hz, 60hz with 240hz and 144hz with 500hz. This is now a gimmick imo.

      Because someone with better biological hardware will win. If you took two players with the same skill, then the computer hardware would matter more, IMO. The one carrying on 60hz probably has great tracking, switching, and flicking aim. This video shows advantages at like, what, 20ms? That isn't going to help someone play against someone who can accurately flick you at 250ms if it takes you 600ms. Having a monitor that improves your gameplay by even 100ms isn't going to help.

    • @moozooh
      @moozooh Před 2 lety +6

      Jokes aside, top-tier LCDs and OLEDs are actually far better than the best CRTs in terms of both smoothness and refresh rate (resolution and scaling have been solved long ago as well-take any modern smartphone and try to compare the smallest font size that remains legible on it with one rendered on a CRT). There's an oft-overlooked fact that CRTs as a technology is fundamentally susceptible to ghosting because that's one of its core principles. It's easy to demonstrate with a simple experiment: turn the lights off, put on a black background and move a white square over it. Enjoy your ugly long-ass trails! The reason why you even see the picture on CRTs as a picture rather than an invisible burst of energy every time the electron beam crosses over your pupil is that phosphors illuminated by the beam glow for a little bit before they fade back to black. There is a physical limit to this phenomenon since they need a certain amount of time to "cool down", this process can't be accelerated and hence can't be solved with higher refresh rates, but the length of the trail is proportional to the contrast between the two objects, so it's not always noticeable.
      Technologies like OLED can potentially eradicate the issue completely since every pixel is illuminated individually so there's very nearly no "crosstalk" between then, but they're still too expensive to compete with LCD. Not to mention any high-end LCD panel is expensive itself.

    At this point refresh rate isn't important. We would need to eliminate all delay from all other hardware in a computer. If you used a 144Hz screen where everything else is sub 0.1 response time (The entire computer has no delay) the 144Hz would show a better feel in motion than a 500Hz screen could ever give.

    I don't think it's worth it over 240hz except for the very top in eSports gamers. The jump from 144hz to 240hz was already small to begin with. Plus we haven't talked about what it would take to drive anything at that high of a frame rate. If anyone wants to experience really good motion clarity than they can go for quality strobed displays and play at a locked 120fps or 144fps that would be much easier to sustain than 500fps.

    • @ibtarnine
      @ibtarnine Před 2 lety +3

      yeah i still have a NEC FP2141, it will run at a high resolution up to 160hz, and it's like looking through a window. 500hz is absolutely not necessary. 240hz and ULMB/backlight strobing would be enough. human perception reaches a limit just under around 200hz too (this can be easily tested by flashing images for around 6-7ms, anything lower and you can't see the image), so going from 240 to 500hz+ will not give you any advantage during any games.

  • @Raglarak
    @Raglarak Před 2 lety +56

    Hopefully you realized that the reason that top earnings PRO players are still going for the 240Hz BenQ XL2546k instead of your 360Hz monitors is because of the image clarity with barely (Ghosting/Overshooting) also without sacrificing too much brightness #DyAc, so if you want that TOP earnings PRO players actually move from the Benq XL2546k to your Nvidia monitors, please make sure that this time they support ULMB all the way to the monitors max refresh rate (@500Hz) without sacrificing too much brightness, not like the 360Hz monitors only supporting ULMB @240Hz by cutting brightness in half, not even mentioning all the Ghosting and Overshooting they have compared to the BenQ XL2546k.

    This difference isn't noticeable when you're playing in real time, first of all the panel matters more than the refresh, and second of all, it's really hard to distinguish past 200hz, even professional gamers usually can't tell the difference between 240 and 360, so 500 is really going to be nothing

    • @PD-ws4td
