  • Buttercups shine bright yellow like little gold coins in the sunshine amongst the green grass 🌞 These beautiful little wildflowers grow all around the world great for insects and poisonous to humans! But there's more to the buttercups shine than meets the eye. Used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries and rich if fantastic folklore there's more to buttercups than many know 🌼

Buttercups grew by the roadside in the mountains where I grew up. When I was little my mama would pull over and pick a buttercup to rub on my nose and make it yellow, a happy little ritual we did just for fun. It was one of my happiest memories.

Thank you for this beautiful story!!!
And thanks heavens you live in a place where Buttercups may still bloom!❤
I live in the Netherlands for 3 months a year (spring/summer) and last week l noticed how dead nature is here!! I did not see 1 flower next to the road! This because farmers cut everything off!! As soon a a dandelion, buttercup or daisy is seen... and the grass get a little longer... a farmer and his tractor come and cut all off! Even the policy in our woods!!! A NIGHTMARE right into our face... but all people want to see is that the Netherlands is green "so beautiful green..." with no wild flowers (yes genatic manipulated 'wild' flowers! Yes those we sometimes still find...)anymore! No insects on your windscreens anymore...!
    Dead as dead can be!
So happy l can enjoy road and fields full of wild blooming flowers in France... Spain.... Portugal and many other European countries where people still know the vital importance of all these stunning wild flowers to our excistance!❤❤❤

Wow I have learned so much, I'm a 53-year-old girl, who was raised on a hillside farm in starksboro Vermont. I used to pick butter cups by the handfuls, bring them home to Mom and she displayed them on the kitchen table.😮
I know deep within my heart, that growing up close to nature like I did, and then moving away from it when I graduated from high school, was the worst thing I could have ever done. Now my body is riddled with issues because of processed food and the way we live currently, to blame, but give me buttercups by the handfuls over the issues I have to deal with now. I'm getting back to my roots. 😊

If you know the fairy that turned the miser gold into butter cups. Maybe she could reverse the spell.
No the experience of a field full of butter cups is priceless

Very informative, thank you. I always wondered how cows and horses could be allowed to feed in meadows full of buttercups, knowing the flowers would blister their mouths. Now I not only only know that the animals avoid eating them, but that they are no longer noxious when dried and forming part of hay mixture. Amazing!

I am a relaxed gardener and like edible weeds like nettles and bittercress, etc, but sorry, the only weeds I exercise zero tolerance of are buttercups and bluebells. These two are poisonous to both pets + people. And they are so pretty that some kids instinctively stick them up their face, nostrils or even mouths. Dangerous. A dog recently had a cardiac arrest after consuming them.
