Something I struggle with concerning hyper pop is the longevity of it. Like, I just really really doubt a single person is going to be bumping this 10,15 years down the road. What is the reason to revisit this?

Well he's pretty shit so he's definitely a Hardcore emcee lol. Plus I think the line "MC Boing flies on the wings of a bird in the angel's eyes" might be a direct reference to two classic hardcore anthems, Rainbow in the Sky by Paul Elstak and Angeleyes by Brisk & Ham. But yeah definitely an affectionate parody of that type of emceeing
I know MC Boing killed your parents in a hit-and-run but I don’t think it’s very professional to let that dictate the score you gave this album.

@Ivory_ Lagiacrus_YT really what made me crack was Anthony giving Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers an 8. You see, that was the greatest album of 2020, the best of the decade so far. It is a perfect album. She deserved a higher score.

but it isn't supposed to be cohesive? i feel like you've missed the last part of the conceptual puzzle, which is that the album is supposed to feel like wandering in and out of different rooms in a massive club that are DJ'd by different characters. so yeah, they all sound different and like they don't belong together because that's the whole point. i wouldn't have minded if you had criticised that as an artistic choice, but it kind of came across like you didn't really get that and thought it was a bug rather than a feature.
I totally agree, there are significant lore elements and stories behind the choice. If Danny wanted a cohesive album it wouldn't be the Harlecore record we have now. Judging from the fact that Anthony didn't explicitly mention the concept of the giant ziggurat club that was supposed to be Harlecore and is featured directly on the cover along with all the promotional materials, he didn't do his homework. If I wasn't privy to that element of the concept I would think the same, but Anthony missed the mark on that part.
I'm yet to form an opinion on the whole album, but quite interstingly, MC Boing tracks I enjoy the most. It's ADHD energy and the incessant, high-pitch shouting take me back to the 90's rave days - to my all-time favorite, The Prodigy's "Experience" LP, and the dreamy bits on "Boing Boing" are reminiscent of Dune's Verena von Strenge. These three songs are the highpoint of my workout routine, I can't help but go into turbo mode.
So I guess he didn’t visit Club Harlecore...

I recently discovered this channel and its amazing. I always thought i know a lot of music but I don't know 90 % of the artists Anthony covers.

If you check out only one track from this album make sure Interlocked. It’s such a banger.
I picked up this album, but Anthony is right, it shouldn't have been an LP. I would have much rather picked it up as a couple 12" with remixes and extended dance tracks of the true bangers that are on it.

Totally agree. I think he should've arranged the LP into 4 suites (or I guess DJ sets) of just that persona's tracks -- The 5 Danny tracks then the 3 Boing tracks then the 2 Ocean tracks and finally the 4 Mayhem tracks or something. As is, the track sequencing felt random as hell
