Watching on replay (from Oklahoma) - you are so obviously in love with your wife that you are uncomfortable without her -God bless you! Just lost my hubby of 45 years to COVID in December and have started watching youtube wood working - you caught my attention first b/c of your obvious Christian stance. My son and I just finished our first project...your stove cover plan! LOVE IT! Thank you for pressing in and on!
So sorry for your loss! I honestly could not possibly imagine the emotions you have to fight through. You are loved and valued!

Sorry im latebto the party but a shop vac with a drywall dust bag works great for trapping even the smallest particlee. I use one for my finish sander and have for years
Howdy Mr. 731..from S. Texas.
Starting from scratch....for me has been a bit slow going. If you recall, I've been a woodworker for around 35 years, but never did it for a business, though I worked at MANY woodworking jobs.
Now that I built my 2nd shop, getting it up and running has been tedious.
One of the issues I have starting from scratch is making decisions on how to set up my shop. Do I build this first or that, but then I can't build that until I build this BUT then I can't build that until I can cut it accurately.
So, tools are still on sawhorses as I decided the first things I needed to build are JIGS that are accurate. And, before I could do that accurately, I spent several days cleaning and very VERY fine tuning the tablesaw and chop saw. My tablesaw is a DeWalt. I've had it since I was 17, I'm 49 now. Still works and I just finished fine tuning it. Teflon coating was peeling, so all that got sanded off to bare metal then sanded and wet sanded to 3000 grit. Then 3 coats of wax.
Next, I built my crosscut sled. Using the 5 cut method, I've got it dialed in to a .00013 tolerance.
I'm currently building several box joint jigs of various sizes. Then I'll do a shooting board.
Then I guess I'll begin designing my shop benches.
That's how I'm starting from scratch.
NY...love your videos, walkthroughs and your ability to simplify things that may seem complicated at first
I always miss the live streams 😫
Would you be able to run some more content regarding lumber/tool supplies for UK woodworkers please as it's difficult to look at most supplies here due to postage restrictions
For budget starting equipment, I really like the WEN brand and I also like Hercules brand from Harbor Freight. They will carry you pretty far.
Great channel guys keep it up you're amazing
The Skil table saw with the rack and pinion fence is the BEST beginner saw. $300 very well spent.
Indiana checking in
Watching the recording not live. Mini 731 could be Mrs. 731 twin. Touching on a lot of stuff that I'm at right now which is getting started. Rebuilding an old craftsman 113 tablesaw I want to finish before I start making stuff. I know, I have more than enough tools to start but I want the tablesaw. But i heave picked up a few other things in the meantime, old 6 inch atlas jointer, 12 inch sliding miter saw and bosch router. And a rigid ago vac and dust cyclone from harbor freight.
Dave, I completely rebuilt my grandfather's 1946 craftsman 113 and I love it. I would recommend putting a link belt on it when you are done. I do all my builds with that saw (most of my equipment is rebuilt from the '40s, I love that old iron!)
@@billcopeland581 Already got the link belt, pulleys and PALS. Bought a Delta T3 fence. Upgrading to a 1 1/2 hp motor. Came up with a retractable caster set up and built a new base with 1/2 inch plywood. Working out how to add dust collection too.
Just adding that it's taking longer than I was hoping because winter won't let us go yet in Detroit and it's been too cold to work on it in the unheated garage.
@@davegravel3740 You're going to have a great saw.
When I rebuilt mine I replaced everything including bearings. I fired it up and had a wicked vibration. The only thing I didn't replace was the v belt. I replaced it with a link belt and it was smooth as butter- I can balance a nickle on edge with it running. I put link belts on everything else after that.
Best of luck!
I watched this on Thursday after it aired on Tuesday night. I thought Mo was Amy when the video first started. Good job Mo.
Loss of taste and smell is a Corona symptom. I lost them then got sick as could be. 2x. FYI, the PCR test is flawed 6 ways to Sunday. Notice that flue cases went down significantly with the advent of Corona. Hope Mrs. 731 and everyone feels better.
Just wanted to take a moment to offer up prayers for your better half. Hope that both of you get well.
Get a Kreg RipCut. That will allow you to cut straight lines with a circular saw.
What did you do or do you do with bowed boards without a planer
Bowed boards will still be bowed when coming out of the planer. Unless you make a jointer sled for the length of the board.
@@williamwalters3796 yah I know the issue is I don’t have a planer or a jointer so I’m trying to figure out how to get the bow out with out those tools sorry if this sounds rude I’m not trying to
Any ideas will be very helpful until I can afford those tools
@@shawnsheenakunze9055 have you seen stumpy nubs videos on a straightening jig for a table saw? I set one up and I basically have a 3 1/2” jointer with just a 2x4 and 2 clamps. Only works on 3 1/2” wide boards though (with a 10” table saw). Smaller table saw blades will make a smaller jointer unfortunately.
@@williamwalters3796 no thank you I will watch it
My gosh , Matt, Mini-731 is her Mom made over!!! She has the same smirk, when you are talking; her voice is the same; and apparently the same sense of humor. You guys done good! Mom...get well soon!
I have the Ridgid jobsite table saw I love it. I bought it with the Stand. I have to have equipment that is easy to move out side as I don’t have the Room to set up in my shop.
When will you have plans for TV stand with barn doors? From VA
No, sorry. I didn't keep any measurements from that build.
Idk how you guys don't see it, but Mini731 looks and sounds just like her momma. Get well soon Mrs731!
I always ask myself with channels like this "could this person make what they consider good money actually doing the thing they are teaching instead of youtubing?"
Apparently your answere is no if u say things changed for you when you channel took off... Thats unfortunate to here, I appreciate your honesty though.
I can’t get over how much she looks like her mum… 😮
That’s the truth for sure. That’s what I’m trying to start. Trying to get over major spinal surgeries and loss of family, home, job, so I really want to watch your videos over and over about the things that will sell. Got a jigsaw the other day and still haven’t tried it. Scared of that failure factor because of what happened to me. Can’t seem to get out of it.
You can do it
Another question I coming along pretty good, u were talking about ur comfort zone I there myself, but when it's other people money on the line seems that's why I'm so leary , not making a profit not so leary bout that so much due to I still have full rime job
Easy solution, send me all the hardwood scraps :)
I have that table saw. The Rigid. I bought it from a friend for $300 that was still in the box. It took me three years to put it together, I was intimidated from it. Never used it yet. It was in my garage and I had bad contractors putting a new roof on. They didn't cover my roof right and my entire home is ruined. Water was coming down my garage wall and ceiling like a river and splashing on my new table saw. It was basically on the table part and it rusted in places. Even when I had waxed it down first. So there are spots on the cast iron. I still am fighting with a lawyer and the contractors. I don't know how to get the spots out of the cast iron top.
I'm viewing this a bit late. When you started your Etsy store, did you have just the stove covers? Or did you have multiple items to start with?
Mainly stove covers. Started with one and added variations as people ordered different colors
Interesting thoughts on scraps. I am a scrap collector too :D I think it's just part of being a woodworker is balancing that temptation with reality.
As a casual woodworker, I probably use more scraps than a professional since I have more time then resources. But I could totally see why a pro would use less, since those scraps cannot really help you when doing paid projects that require larger amounts of wood that are part of the cost itself, thereby negating the need for smaller scraps. I also wouldn't be suprised that as you progress in your professional journey you learn what scraps are better to keep based on what you routinely make outside of commissions (also for jigs and stuff).
But I simply cannot throw away expensive hardwoods. I have a few smaller sealed boxes in my attick with scraps that I hope will become part of smaller projects in the future. False hope? Time will tell :D
If we lived closer, I could make good use of your scrap.
Also, I notice on your benches, you have an abundance of Arkansas SP patches. Are you an ex State Trooper?
🤔 woah holy twinsies Batman are you sure that's not Amy.. 😂
Dude I thought you were going crazy or something. I’m like what is he talking his wife is right there. Crazy your daughter looks exactly like your wife.

I have a rigid table saw and it is a piece of junk. I'll never buy another rigid tool again. My rigid chop saw works fine except that the adjustments crews never worked.... The table saw has many flaws.
Pinterest is how I found you
Your daughter looks and sounds like. Mrs. 731

Dog food isn't so bad, well some of it is but why would you make your best friend eat something that's terrible?
Not keeping scraps?? Blasphemy lol
