Luka Doncic and the Mavericks are spiraling to failure near the end of the season. Ever since they got Kyrie Irving things have been out of control. Dallas is not good with their new star addition but itâs not for the reason you might think. - Sport
It's hilarious that Mark Cuban made the same mistake twice. He let Brunson walk the same way he did with Steve Nash đ
The Steve nash walk was smart the Brunson wasnât
He also swore he would never make the same mistake again. Itâs unfolding before our eyes. How the fuck do you let Nash walk
@@stevesharpe3370 How do you figure?
@@shorewall he was never a winner. He wasnât a championship piece they were much better off with Kidd that guy was a winning point guard. I watched all those games back then. Nash has a huge legacy to the kids these days but back then they were getting annihilated by the kings, Spurs and lakers and Dirk and nash were the butt of a lot of jokes itâs funny how everyone acts like that wasnât a thing and treats them as legends.
Dirk deservingly but nash not so much
â@@stevesharpe3370 ...? Nash is a hall of Fame player. He had a nearly identical VORP his last three years on Dallas as did Jason Kidd. Steve Nash wasn't great early on in his career but averaged about 17 and 7 his last couple years and was an all star 2/3 years. Kidd came in and averaged about 9 and 9.
You're the one who is remembering wrong. Steve Nash was a star when they didn't bring him back. Probably not a super star but a star. It'd be like the Raptors letting Pascal Siakam go now. Except Dallas was a better team than the Raptors are now.
You aren't remembering correctly.
Kyrie is not the problem by himself, but kyrie was not the player that the mavs needed. What they need are solid role players around Luka.
And for Luka to get in shape and maybe play some defence, if heâs the franchise player he needs to step up too
True. They should have traded for someone else.
They need a gritty defensive guard man. They should have traded for Fred Vanvleet. They would have gotten most of what Brunson is on O with solid defense for his size. The raptors werenât getting too many offers so the competition wouldnât have been that fierce.
They needed one elite defender like Pat Bev and a reliable 2 way player who can bring enough efficiency on the court when Luka rests. Outside of that, role players would have def helped.
@@marshallbeck9101 that wasnt a huge need when they already had defensive players surrounding luka so he could focus all his energy on offense
You forgot to mention that the Mavs get to keep their first round pick if it's 1-10, so there's additional incentive to lose.
Is losing 3 more games really enough to get them a top 10 pick tho?
There is simply 0 purpose for any NBA team to Tank for any lottery draft , if LeBron isnât on that roster. Because there will never be anyone in the lottery or anywhere else in the draft that will ever be able to compete against LeGoat James. King James is 100% undefeated and will remain Flawless until he retires.
True but the Mavs are trying to keep their pick this year according to some sources that's why they potentially are interested in shutting their stars down
Iâm a Knicks fan I want that #11 pick lol I need wins from Dallas
Im not a Knicks fan but as a fellow new yorker I want the Knicks to get that #11 I want to see them succeed
The Mavs hasnât been awful since getting Kyrie, the Mavs became awful after getting rid of Brunson, Dinwiddie & DFS.
I actually feel kinda bad that people are blaming Ktrie for a front office issue. Essentially the Mavs lost their 2nd, 3rd & 4th best players (Brunson walking for nothing, DFS & Spencer) & picked up Kyrie. One player can't make up for three starters, especially the three best players outside of Luka.
ââ@@1capatter Facts. My Lakers had to learn that the hard way when we gave up our depth for Westbrook
They shouldn't have traded away KP also. They needed an effective big.
@@1capatter It's a Luka's ass is too big and he can't play defense issue. You can't win a championship with a person who can't play defense. The end.
@@Slapshot544 That wasn't even the issue. The issue is that Lebron James is 100 years old and despite the fact that any moron could with a modicum of talent could score 30 points a game in this freak NBA, he's not able to do the other little things he used to do to win. Anthony Davis is also a walking nursing home.
Luka said heâs not being benched as long as they have the chance
this might of been prerecorded
LeBron Never gives up under pressure. Thatâs why heâs 100% flawlessly undefeated. No Team in LeBronâs 20 year Career has ever Legitimately beat him at any point in his career. No matter which LeGoat led team played against, he never Lost.

@@rocketleaguehighlightsreel1236Lebron literally gave up against San Antonio in 2014đ
Jordan is the Goat đ
Well you nailed this one! The front office is the problem. This Dallas Mavericks team could literally have been: Brunson, Luka, Desmond Bane, Harrison Barnes, Christian Wood, Dwight Powell, Maxi Kleber, DFS, Bullock, & Jaden Hardy with a ton more flexibility/options in the 5 other spots. Instead the front office passed on Bane for Josh Green (Which was a huge talking point back then if you remember. Everyone was saying draft Bane.) They traded Harrison Barnes for literal cap space, nothing. Barnes is still a legit starter. They let Brunson walk for nothing. They made a series of horrible trades including Porizingis. They resigned Hardway for way more than he's worth. After losing Brunson for nothing, they REALLY had their backs against the wall because they didn't have many positive assets to trade and they couldn't even shed bad contracts for cap space.
Now I do think trading for Kyrie was a good strategy. They got off both Dinwiddie & DFS's long term contract, and while both were very well-liked in Dallas (very solid starters,) they both are pushing 30. Neither was going to win you a title, nor would they make big improvements in their game. That did cost them a draft pick, but at least now they have options. If they resign Kyrie (hopefully for a reasonable contract,) they now know they HAVE to trade/build a roster around their game. What they have just wont work, but they do have two of the hardest thing for any team to get... all star first team starters. Luka & Kryie will be the best backcourt in the NBA once they get comfortable. Put some versatile defensive wings who can knock down threes at a high clip and for the love of god!!!! Bring in a defensive center who can rebound & block shots.
If he wants to out, it's in his best interest to sign & trade. If that happens, Kyrie is a good enough player to land a star or multiple starters & picks. Could the Suns send Ayton in exchange? Could Dallas get a pair of starters better than Dinwiddie/Dorian? It's definitely possible.
If Kyrie straight up leaves, they have so many expiring contracts... they could actually sign some help this time (Again the front office would have to surprise us.) 25 million is a decent size contract for a pair of starters or another second star next to Luka.
All three options put them in a better place than they were before the Kyrie trade imo.
I totally see where u are coming from. Well lot of it lands on the office to make the right decisions, as far as i can see they have more L's. The best case scenario would be a sign and trade. Also a better defensive coach.
The only person that would determine whether or not all these Trades, or free agent signings matter is LeGoat! Because Without King James, No Other Team Has, and ever will win because they will never Be able to beat LeGoat. Thatâs why The King Is and will be The Only NBA Player that can ever lead a franchise.

I'm a Pistons fan, but I really don't think we're gonna win the #1 pick (the odds don't usually work out well for us). Cade will probably be the last #1 pick we get for decades. Also, for the GM, Troy Weaver, signing Kyrie would be an odd star to pick up because many moves he makes are to save money, possibly for keeping key young talent in longterm deals.

Four year 55... For Jalen Brunson. Mavs as an org deserve all the L's they are taking. I hope Luka sees that there is no hope for progress there and asks for a trade. Mavs have a history of failing at building a competent roster or holding on to good players.
I like how it how y'all make sure to blame everyone else but Luka, the guy who this content creator specifically told you refuses to get in shape in the offseason and it's probably the most overweight player in the league... interesting skewing of reality here

You're bang on on this one.
Teams never learn that making a âwin nowâ move too prematurely never works out. One example I could think of is when AD was with the Pels. They traded for Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans and others. But they never got anywhere.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are gonna slowly learn that the hard way after trading away that haul of assets for Rudy Gobert.
Perfect player for Dallas to get would be Jimmy Butler. Heâs the exact type of player they need, and heâs gonna be the person who will get Luka under control. We could do a sign/trade for Kyrie OR offer THJ, Green, Kleber and picks if Jimmy decides he doesnât want to be in Miami this offseason
Dude that's legit great. Getting butler would be awesome.
None of that would get you butler both bc Miami not even picking up the phone, and bc multiple other teams would crush the offer. Portland being one without a doubt
jimmy butler with luka is gonna be massacre , they have both unstable character
Jimmy wanted to play with Kyrie he says Kyrie is his favorite player Kyrie might go to Miami cause nobody wants stay in Dallas to play with a fat lazy no defense playing ball hog
Lol put jimmy and luka in the same locker room and only one is coming out alive - my money is on jimmy
That lbj take is bad. He couldn't have worked next to russ. Even if it was prime russ. Luka isn't inherently wrong an impossible player to play with. It's the way the mavs utilize him in offense. No excuses now. They finally have a star secondary ball handler and the mavs simply don't deserve luka anymore

Dallas was 20-14 in clutch games before Kyrie trade( tied for first in the league) 5-14 since.THE TRADE DID NOT WORK. Cuban traded the farm to rent Kyrie. Had an engine problem and went and got new rims and tires instead.
I think the trade was 'too late'.
This team needs
1. Defense
2. A better coach
3. Better role players.
We need more of this from Ayton. The guy is too passive for a rim protector, but he's still young so more room for improvement
These years superteams cant workđąđą

Personally I would say a better example pf getting lucky in the draft and still not having anything to show for it would be the Thunder. Three years in a row they draft future MVPs only to have two of them wanted to be traded and one leaving the team outright in free agency
I still shudder at the James Harden Trade. They could have had 3 MVPs and Serge Ibaka as a core for years to come. Instead they played cheap. I can't wait until Seattle gets the Sonics back and takes back their team history.

Fuck that, man. So they trade the most valuable players on the team (Brunson, Dinwiddie) for Kyrie on an expiring contract, have no defense, have Powell starting a center, needed Luka to play the whole offense since he was a toddler with no other NBA experience, and then... surprise, Luka is used to do everything by himself (no shit sherlock). Now everybody blaming his playstyle, have we gone mad or what? On top of that, he is passionate about the game and he gives a shit... now all of a sudden "he is too emotional". My balls on a stick.

Logic in such situation. Clear and precise analysis
One of the most underrated nba channels
I think the coaches and leadership need to press the players to be better. Green, Hardy, Bullock, Wood, Hardaway, Doncic, they're all inconsistent. I don't think they should resign Irving, his offense, mental and physical health are one of the most inconsistent out there, he just accentuate the issues of the Mavs.
Once you go all in you can't turn around and fold.
Nice and sunny here in AZ đ
Well at least Kyrie feels appreciatedđ theyâll barely make the play in if theyâre lucky. I love it too much
You are correct Bro.
Kyrie is not the problem, they need defense and shooting. Also he is not immature. This dude has been playing and winning since 16 year old, he cannot tolerate incompetence. And Dallas reeks of incompetence. The front office and the coach are so bad. Well, let's hope he leaves and comes to LA after Lebron leaves.
True I love Kyrie
I find Kyrie to be well spoken in his post game interviews. His teammates love him. You are right that he can't tolerate incompetence. If he stays I see him becoming the leader of this team and they become contenders again as long as they get a better center.
That defense stats is misleading ASF!!! That 3p difference for a team that has a lot of wins in a one posesiĂłn game is really important!
You have to get limited players for Luka to work around well
Lukas got crazy maturing to do, but offense was never the problem w the mavericks. Adding porzingus was dumb, offensive big man. They need a solid defensive big man
Trueeeeee.. they should have built a super defensive team around luka.
The Mavericks had two options this season make the playoffs and get swept, and that's with Dinwiddie and DFS or take a risk and trade for Kyrie and try to out score everyone and maybe, maybe win a series and keep Luka happy for next season either way this Mavs team was so inconsistent they had to do something. I hate the mavs lost Brunson, but even if he was still on the team this season, it doesn't fix the Mavs' paint defense and rebounding issues. DFS, Dinwiddie, or Brunson was not fixing the Mavs issues this season or future seasons. As far as Luka goes, he knows how he is. The fact is that as long as he plays as an MVP, Luka is going to be Luka, and the guy is humble and cocky at the same time, sprinkling in crybaby to the mix. Mavs will be okay. In the best case scenario, Luka gets the team that gives the mavs a chip. In the worst case, mavs get a butt load of picks and players for Luka.
This is really sad all around
The only person that Luka will ever be good playing alongside is going to be a Quick Bigman. Someone that isnât stealing his playmaking and fast break scoring, but someone that gets a lot of rebounds and plays a crazy amount of defense. I still think whatâs smartest is if Dallas Resigns Kyrie in a sign a trade and they get a player like Abedayo or Draymond Green
This reminds me of the hawks, just a little. The hawks had that amazing season where they made ecf but after they panicked and made a trade for dejounte murray
Yup, and this also reminds me of the Minnesota Timberwolves. They had a good playoff run last season, so now they traded away their future for Rudy Gobert because they think he's the missing piece to a championship.
Dallas may be an inconsistent team, but Jose Alvarado's career high is 38 points đ€
As a Mavs fan, I am terrified
I dont watch too much but how is Sacramento defence differen vs the Mavs ? Both i hear are notorious glass cannon teams but obviously Sacramento makes it work.
The Kings race up and down the court, it is a track meet. Mavs don't do that.
Mavs should sign Demarcus Cousins and Dwight Howard
Exactly ! front office n and cheap owner! I remember when Cuban started was hell of owner!
Dang the same day he dropped this they actually played good lol
4:09 It's the facts.
If its all star I would say Luka needs a good big like Bam Adebayo or Domantas Sabonis, a big that can catch lob and defend in the post, then add some 3&D wing. While my criticism to Luka is he should improve his hustle, defense and add a catch and shoot in his arsenal, Mavs would be so lethal in that way IMO.
Someone needs to let Doncic know this isn't Slovenia or Euro League anymore. NBA players sacrifice their mental and physical well being to get that ring. He is the only star that doesn't take care of his physical conditioning and loses steam under pressure, looking for others to blame (his own players or the refs). Talent alone cannot win, work does. If Dallas trades right now they can get a good deal

Itâs rough, going from the WCF against the eventual champion GSW to probably not even making the play-in. Brunson was disrespected like crazy. Look at the Knicks. Cuban needs to let the GM do his job.

Kyrie is not the problem; Kyrie+ Luca is the problem. They are not a fit, they are not a match; they are too similar and so they clash. I said they would clash the day the trade was announced and, well, they clash!
They ain't playing wood. To me that's the problem
Jaylen Brown came out and said the article took things out of context and made several comments stating he's happy here (particularly referring to the fact that we're dominating the league along the bucks so why leave)
You missed to talk about the second biggest problem with the Mavs: Jason Kidd's incompetece as a coach
Luka, always needed defensive minded players around him. He's a point guard. He doesn't need a point guard. He can defend point guards in the paint and okay on the perimeter. He needs, defensive wings, and a rim protector. He needs two way players. All the top teams except nuggets and 76ers are full of two way players.
Nuggets signed a bunch of two way players, and that's whats making them a contender right now. (KCP, Bruce Brown, Aaron Gordon)

Here's the main issue with Dallas and cap space: they NEVER sign any big name free agents. Resign their current talent, sure, but never do we see big names on the market go to Dallas. That cap space will 100% be wasted on mediocre role players if Dallas were to get it.
