TY for all the information, especially highlighting the license and communicating its approval - FINALLY!
Elon got his fish license! Wonder if he named that fish Eric?
It is an halibut
How about a bee named Eric?
STARfish, of course!
or a Half a Bee named Eric!🐝
Noooo, it's a guppy. He named it Tory.
Space x needs to create drones that can travel up with starship and be deployed in space to view starship. What a spectacular (and functional) way to really view the starship experience
May I ask, what streaming app are you using NSF? Keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing spaceship pass over my house in South Africa...

Great live stream thanks NSF team.

I’m no expert at broadcasting but these three young gentlemen are doing a much better job communicating than previous people in their shoes. All goes out the window though when they don’t stick to some kind of plan and the parameters as agreed to prior to launch. Right now, they are doing wonderfully.
I wouldn't have commented except for the fact this was the top comment. I'm no expert in broadcasting either but I disagree. In particular Alex Rivera, not sure on the name because they don't communicate it well by having them on screen or in the description. He speaks as though he is in junior high. His sentences are a jumble of fillers and empty phrases such as "It's okay dude", "like out of bounds and everything", "basically right and so", "but, um", all of which makes him very hard to understand or take seriously. Note that I am not talking about his accent, although combined with all the filler phrases it doesn't help. Being an expert in some area doesn't guarantee the ability to communicate that knowledge well and as a host I would think communication skills are paramount. He might just be nervous, experience will help with that. Otherwise he should consider some lessons on effective communication. I am not expecting a Toastmaster, just less filler and nonsense.
@@RoySATX Strong disagree, these aren't paid PR people, they're regular humans discussing complicated things in a relatively competent manner given that they have to scrounge information from a ton of difference sources.
Jack’s beard: “Utterly and incomprehensibly huge. You really need someone to stand next to it to appreciate the scale.”
This is gonna be AWESOME.
I’m fairly certain they do have a manual control for FTS, as a back up, and I think that they are required to do that. Scott Manley has a video on FTS.
no fish were harmed in this meeting and good to say launch is due license is issued
Danger trailer needs some armor! Good luck everybody. Hopefully Saturday, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday.
So sounds like 7 am CT / 8 am ET this Friday is the target for launch.
thank you
Elon just posted on X that the launch is going to happen on Saturday, due to needing to replace a grid fin actuator.
yes
Jive Turkeys are going to start streaming the launch before I go to bed the night before the launch.
Jive Turkeys!! I haven't heard that phrase since the late 70s, cracked me up!
Then it is fish Friday holiday!
Other than minor anomalies I expect near full success for BFR/BFS.
Part of why is Falcon and previous tests before Falcon and the multiple successful & not so flights of BFS.
It looks close to a adequate improvement of stage 0 in previous 0 tests also.
I don’t recall much problems with any test &/or flights of any Sx unit that wasn’t easily fixed.
Seems no one has pointed fact that the anomaly fires…explosions etc & etc didn’t eliminate the stage separating in the last flight.
For stage one only real improvements needed vs last flight is to not have engines and components fire and or explode and to achieve stage separation…BFS has proven many times it can light several engines successfully so I really dont see much more needed from any stage.
Although all should be beefed up and optimized after a Falcon 9 ish successful non rud starts occurring.
Supposedly Elon didn’t expect the maden Falcon Heavy to even do what most expect of this flight…looks like this flight will be underexpected results expected and way over expected occurrence probable.
Yea Falcon is a different vehicle but so was the prototypes pre Falcon….which is nearly comparable to hopper and early BFS tests…well minus Sn11 that was just a mission that should not of happen as and when it did.
Superimpose an iconic building next to it for scale.
Like Saturn five?
I'm waiting for model y air suspension to come out

It seems like belly landing Starship in the ocean would be a wasted opportunity to test the flip landing. Especially since the Starship will need to flip vertical regardless whether SpaceX decides to catch or land the Ships. More data is always better.
I hope SpaceX eventually figures out proper landing legs for Starships. Go ahead and catch boosters but a I think real Starships should have landing legs.
It would really suck if SN15 remains the only Starship to land on earth. I'm still angry they scrapped SN15
They also need to ensure that the remains in the ocean are thoroughly destroyed. Which wont be the case with a soft landing.
Considering the logistics involved with recovery out there it’s probably for the best that it crashes at terminal velocity
@robyn051 logistics wouldn't be difficult seeing how this was the plan for a long time. Lease a self loafing ship, keep out of landing area, starship goes for simulated landing... big empty tanks so it floats. Send in the ship and pluck it out of the water. In our scheme of things is big... space X not so big. Plus you just go for as many things to test in a launch to reduce future ones. 😀
Wonder if theyre not attempting the flip to see what happens if they don't. Will it survive the impact?
No, it won't survive a belly flop into the ocean. And on the off chance it did, what would be the point?

What if in the last seconds it turns from a bellyflop to a nosedive?
If the trailer is not named Danger Kart a mistake was made 😂
@nasaspaceflight, you were wondering what to call the catching system, they're called traps. Rickm.
@NASASpaceflight what is minimum amount of engines starship needs to launch
I may be wrong but I wanna say it was around 28? Or somewhere near there. Just multiply the thrust of a sea-level Raptor until the thrust is above 1:1 thrust to weight ratio, and you have your answer. Also need the full stack/fully fueled weight, though, so 🤷🏼♂️
OMG I am so excited!! What an amazing accomplishment!!!
is the water released in to the environment or is it recycled ?
They have the license as of midnight tonight
Vocano in iceland will cancel it
Reply Elon Musk GOOD LUCK🙏💙🙏🍀 🚀
The water release also cuts rivers into the wetlands, that can then act like drains, which damages the wetlands ecosystem.
SpaceX needs to capture the deluge water and release it in a way that wont damage the wetlands.
Ha ha let's kick the tyres and light the fires and send it. Brilliant.

What is the minimum amount of engines needed to launch starship
You should add the word "successfully" to that question.
For launch 1 they said 3 engines out would still launch. Any more and the flight computers will shut it down. Not sure about this flight.

it is hard to listen to those people...... who are thosejokers?
Question: Why does the "government" need to issue a licence to/for this liftoff? And why are these guys making such a big deal about it? Hasn't Space X launched about 50 rockets already? I've watched a bunch of those launches and this is the first time I'm hearing anything about a "licence."
This is 1) the most powerful rocket and 2) located in south texas (not Florida where they launch smaller F9 every week) this site in Texas is surrounded by valuable wildlife habitat too.
So yes, they need licences to launch. Don’t want to be breaking any rules with the FAA.., or else they would never be able to launch again.
Thank you. @@mgsls
Every single launch needs a license. There are various reasons for this, one is that the airspace and risky sea areas need to be cleared, so the launch window needs to be known in advance so people can plan around it. Another is that by international treaty, the hosting country is responsible for any damages (and it is then up to that country to recoup those costs from the launching company), so Uncle Sam isn't going to let you launch a big rocket unless they think it's reasonably safe. Of course when you're launching something that has been flying for years without problems, that's usually just a matter of the right person putting down a signature so for say a Falcon 9 it's no big deal, but in case of a brand new rocket it's a little more involved.
Thank you. @@Moscatinka
@nasaspaceflight, hey Thomas doesn't work for nsf anymore. He is the only one who could build a rocket 🚀. Rickm.
Licence granted for launch, just in time for president Xi visit.
Yes, but only one of those have any chance of a successful outcome.
If it hasn't been received the license don't title your stream, "Starship Receives License for Launch!"
Agreed. More BS. There are plenty of other SpaceX/IFT2 sources so I'm unsubscribing from click bait BS.
What are you talking about? Starship did receive the license.
licence droped mid stream, im sure they renamed the title!

@@dominicestebanrice7460 Well...bye.
When the video started, it was labeled fish and wildlife approval. But as long as these stream are facts change mid stream. It's now got approval. So not click bait. Check your facts before you post.
Sorry but this/any new guy should be reasonably knowledgeable & at least as enthusiastic as the rest of you (past & present) thanx
95% that it'll scrub if an attempt is made for Friday. There's no way Elon is going to launch that day because he's a diva. He wants the most eyes and attention when it does launch so there's no way he's launching at what 6am? on a Friday? No way, it'll be scrubbed to get the word of mouth going and we'll launch Sat or Sun at 3-4pm.
@NASASpaceflight: WHERE LICENSE???

CLICK-BAIT TITLE! Bad CZcamsr!
They have been issued a launch license though
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced today (Nov. 15) that it has granted a license for the second launch of Starship, SpaceX's next-generation space transportation system.
Google or whatever search engine you use is your friend here. Check your facts. The info changed during the stream. It has now been granted. They even changed the title to match the facts.

They did receive a launch license. Launch is set for Friday 17th 8am EST
The FAA license indeed has been issued for the second launch. I received an email notification about two hours ago from the official FAA website.
Maybe watch video before commenting?
They have approval to launch Thursday from FAA and DFW but space/ex Elon said it would be Friday at the earliest because they have a long checklist to go thru before they can launch
