The men that came before were the innovators.
They worked hard, making things and learning things along the way.
They made the parts that you could not buy.
Thinking outside the box all the time.
Some of the best Engine builders were in the 1970's and 1980's.
Because they had to make alot and innovate.
I have a saying; without Old School there is No New School.
    Thanks George.
    Happy New Year. 🎉

You 💯 on the money as far as it was angle milled , here in Pennsylvania we race late model dirt track racing and thats one of my engine builder did cus i was on a budget, he milled my heads so it was the same as a set of 18° heads i used a Edelbrock 18° super victor intake and it made good HP

I used to hang out at the race shop engine builder 7 time nascar local champ when i was in my early 20s and listen. The owner would tell me what and why he was doing. Learned what the books did not print. Best times in life. Then the track shut down ruined all our fun days

I had bow-tie heads and intake ,11.1 compression pistons, bored .030 over on a 4 bolt 350. Crower cam. I so old now I cain't remember it all, lol. I never knew how much HP it made. But I held my own against 10,000 dollar motor fellows. 👍🤠

UNDERSTAND YOU HAD KNOWLEDGE THAT OTHERS DEVELOPED OVER DECADES..THAT MOTOR PROBALLY MADE 630. IN THE 80 S AT THE TRACK MOTOR MADE 500 PLUS WITH A 2 BARREL SOLID CAM ON GASOLINE WITH CAMEL HUMP HEADS. RACE PREPED ALL THE TRICKS. DYNOS HAVE SHOW THAT ADDING A 4 BARREL MADE 80 TO 90 MORE HP. THIS ON A 355 CHEVY CIRCLE TRACK

It looks like the bowls are 0.30 to the short side and.0.30 towards the cylinder wall side. Those heads are professionally done. The heads are done to keep in account for coming out of corners, torque at a little lower RPM.

8:12 At our machine shop we angle cut (flat top piston rule at local dirt track). Everybody said angle milling was max at .125. My personal heads were .180 on average would last 5 ish weekends before chamber sunk and cracked. It ran really good. I won alot. It pumped 235+ on comp gauge. Great torque. 500 2bl holley. Flat tappet cam. Rev 6500-6800 was my smoke the field rpm. Just a note' I fly cut chamber wall to match bore size.(unshroud valves I used 2.05 intake and1.650 ex

Oh- should I mention that we kept bore at 030 ...however fir piston clearence we often were at .034-.035(for thickness and so on) but to get max Cid we offset ground stock crank .030. Do I reveal that?? Lmao

By what I see the plugs look low to the Deck, besides the milling. Possibly to keep people from using dome pistons. ( Illegal in some classes, they are probably spec heads.) I built engines for S. C. C. A. For the A. S. Class, rules in play using Edelbrock spec , a valve job was All we could do, I built a 305 ci Chevy small block that made 456 hp. Under the rules it swept the field. I wasn't impressed.
