my dream car
We bought a new fiat 500 and it was a big mistake to go for auto transmission. Not about the small engine and indeed the handling was quite good. The issue was reliability! The engine light could come any time it wanted to scare us AND the engine could stall while driving on the road for no reasons. Go for the manual transmission for sure. Luckily I traded the car for a Japanese vehicle.

I like this fiats I have a soft spot for them they would be really cheap to run but I don't know what they would be like to service and prices on parts
In the states we get the 1957 version, but with body colored wheels and with a turbo at 135hp

Why would you recommend the manual when they have a high clutch failure rate that Fiat denies to cover under warranty?

Why roadtest a 500 that will be limited to a sales run of 60 units ???? Makes no sense. Should have tested one of the regular models.

Hey muehli02, the price of a manual Fiat 500 Anniversario is $21,990. $23,490 for an auto.
I can see how it might be weird that we didn't include the price, but seeing as how some manufacturers like to alter the RRP of their cars every now-and-then, we aren't too keen on cementing it into CZcams. You can't change it once it's up!

Why would you need a reversing camera when you are driving a matchbox? We used to drive cars like a Dodge Phoenix and park them with no camera or sensors. Do any men buy these Fiat's?

Is it automatic gearbox reliable?
I have had my FIAT 500 Sport for four and half years. No problem with the automatic transmission or anything else. Changed one rear light bulb and a couple of minor things under warranty. My most reliable vehicle I have ever had.
I had a fiat 500 twin air with that auto box from 15000km to 105000km, I always drove in manual mode and change gear myself and lifting the throttle off in gear change, it helps the gearbox last longer. Had no issue at all. I drove some loan fiat 500 with auto box, people don't know how to drive it and the clutch slips so badly. My recommendation is to change gear yourself and lift off the throttle as u change gear

nice cars till something goes wrong.i looked at one but the thought of cleaning agip off the driveway put me off.
Automatics suck always go with manual in all cars unless you have a duel clutch
5 liters/100km? "not bad" ? fiat announces it as 3 liters, i dont get it

No, women don’t “drive stupid ass boring SUVs” but thanks for trying, Brian. LOL! Never owned one, never will, they’re comfortable but hideous. Fun fact, every person I know who drives an SUV is male. I think SUVs are marketed to the consumerist masses who want more cargo space to haul the cheap Walmart and IKEA shit they buy and then haul to the dump a year later. Small cars like the Fiat and Smart are the future. Hopefully automakers will start building and innovating fun, sustainable, smaller cars.
