    3. How does this compare to the CAPM or PMP?
    4. What are the similarities between the Google PM certificate and CAPM?
    5. What are the differences between the Google PM certificate and CAPM?
    6. Which one is better?
    7. Does the Google PM certificate guarantee you a job? ?
    8. What is the ROI on the google PM certificate? How much does the google PM certificate cost?
    9. Who would most benefit from the Google PM certificate?

    I did this course as I way to change my career into project management. I got an entry level job as a project coordinator before I even finished the course. It helped me have basic knowledge for the interviews where I was asked to give a presentation on how to plan a new small project. I wouldn't have been able to get this job without this course.
    Some parts are better than others, but I strongly recommend it

    • @colin1818
      @colin1818 Před 3 lety +30

      There are a bunch of different groups that offer various different project management "certifications." Most of them are pretty worthless and just resume fodder. If they're very fast and require a weekend of your time and no prior experience then their value to a hiring manager is likely similarly shallow.
      The CAPM, despite coming from PMI, isn't really all that valuable. However, if you have literally nothing with "project management" on your resume it's a great place to start. So in that respect CAPM is a worth-while investment since it requires little more than a high school diploma, a couple hundred bucks and some study time. But hopefully it's the type of certification you earn and never recertify because you move on up to the full PMP (also from PMI). The PMP has long been the gold standard and that should be your goal. Only acquire enough of the these minor certifications to get you that first job or two and get to the PMP as quickly as possible. After you have the PMP nothing else is really supremely consequential or helpful unless you're looking at specialized certifications within project management. But as a general, all purpose certification, the PMP is pretty much it.

    It's a great cert especially if you have no experience tbh but If you're responsible, somewhat organized, self starting, attentive w/foresight, inquisitive, planner and can communicate well with people plus keep a cool head this may interest you. All the terms and stuff will come in time from studying and going for certs. You're pretty much the main cog in a machine, but I think experience goes a long way due to working/coordinating with different people who pretty much will have an expectancy of reliance on you due to your position respectfully.

    For me, it was worth it, as I did not have to pay (part of an unemployment plan), and wanted to explore this path.
    The course touched on theories but in my opinion, gives you hands on/step-by-step practices at the different life cycle stages.
    In the end, they offered discounts to seat for both CAPM and PMS-1, access to the Coursera job platform, 1 year of another platform that provides lessons and practices to different levels of interviews… I am not sure they will continue with these offerings, but since I did not hear about it in the video, decided to share.
