- Four years ago, comedian and media mogul Byron Allen became the first Black American to own a 24-hour mainstream cable news network when he purchased The Weather Channel for $310 million - in cash. Now, Allen is preparing a bid to buy the Denver Broncos, which - if successful - would make him the NFL's first Black majority owner. Correspondent Lee Cowan talks with Allen about his entrepreneurial spirit, and his success at increasing minority ownership in broadcasting.

Through frivolous lawsuits and race-based maneuvers. I now have little respect for him.
That is a man with a powerfully strong mission.

Byron Allen was always on his "Game." He did a small favor for me 25 years ago when I worked at a radio station in Detroit. I'm sure he wouldn't even remember. What's so cool is the fact that he didn't even know me at the time. He's a real inspiration and a real gentleman!!!
What did he do?
@I WANT MY SLAW!! Byron stopped by the station's popular morning show to promote a project he was doing. Before he left the building and without me asking him to do it, Byron took the time to record a "station identifier" for me to play on my 6-10pm show. It went something like "Hi , This is Byron Allen and you're listening to "The Thrilling Paul Shilling" on 99.5 the FOX." It was just a nice thing for him to do because typically, celebrities that visit stations either wouldn't do that at all , or they would only do it for the top rated morning show they appeared on. It was just a nice little thing for him to do, especially considering the fact that he had very little to gain from it and I wasn't even in the building to ask him, or thank him for doing it.

I am keeping my comments classy and positive....I LOVE this man.....to me he is funny and as an interviewer he not aggressive nor agenda driven....I don't care the race of his wife I care he is a great husband and Dad....IF he puts in a bid to buy The Broncos....I will hate it if the bid is accepted because he is a Black Man.....I will hate it if the bid is denied because he is a Black Man.....I will love it because he is the right man to take Stewardship from Mr Bowlen and add his legacy to The Broncos...while that remains to be seen this I felt was a positive and uplifting piece of Journalism....Thank You Tiffany Network

Byron Allen is a whirling dervish. Byron Allen is The Whitest Black Businessman in America. That Is a Compliment. I saw Byron on TV many years ago. I met him at Sunset Gower Studio several years ago when my son Glenn was the acting COO and his point guard to keep the production of his show moving briskly by keeping the perimeter and interior of his operating arena free and clear of interference at all times. Not an easy task.
My son introduced me as a retired entertainment & trial attorney. I watched him very placidly but intently guide his show. He pulled me aside and told me Glenn made his life and show bearable and run smoothly.
I thanked him.
He told me to help myself to anything I wanted on set. Cool dedicated cucumber. Now he bought the house in Malibu near me my wife wanted to buy for 20 years. Bravo!!!
He does not ever try to overwhelm his multiracial audience by resorting to trying to OutPutinize us or ebonicize us. He and the Shaqman, The Freeman from Mississippi, The Stacy Gal who doesn't try to Abramize us with Tanks, the Harvey man who makes us all hysterical with his unique hilarious humor adore him all make us relax and enjoy life in a broken USA & polarized intolerant world. Byron wants a pro team. I will find him one.

Chris Rock once joked Martin Lawrence in a coma was funnier than Byron Allen, but buying alot of things transcends mediocre talent (see Tyler Perry). Good luck to Byron though.
