    Forget the radiation, Indy should have broken his neck inside a fridge falling from the sky
    Edit: same case for every normal human in a protection suit (ironman, iron patriot, venom etc). Surely it protects from attacks but every hero landing from the sky would damage the human inside because of huge pressure. If everything goes wrong, you even do not need a coffin😉. One problem could be, that you'd suffocate in a freezer after some time. This is because you would produce an underpressure in the fridge, which would prevent you to open the door by yourself from the inside. So if the blast does not open the door, you might not come out anymore🤪.

  • @Kahadi
    @Kahadi Před 4 lety +12

    Before watching the full video, here's my guess from having heard the question discussed before (just the fridge bomb shelter):
    Yes, in some situations. If its an old, lead lined fridge and outside the main blast radius, then yes, it would protect you. This is, I believe, why it would have worked in Indiana Jones. However, that's just one possible situation. More modern fridges aren't lined with lead, meaning they wouldn't stop radiation more than anything else, so you're better off running further and putting more walls between you and the blast than hiding in a fridge. And if within the main blast radius... well, it does vary by how close you are, but for the most part, you'd be killed while in the fridge. The fridge wouldn't do much to protect you from the force of the blast, and even less to protect you from the heat, so the further from the center, the more likely a fridge would protect you from the blast. To put it simply, distance is always better protection, but if you can't run away completely, there is a point where jumping in a fridge becomes safer than trying to run further. Its not guaranteed to work, but... well, its better than nothing. But again, this doesn't help much for the radiation part unless the fridge is lead lined. If it isn't lead lined... you'd have better chances of winning the lottery multiple times...

How he survived be blasted across town inside, essentially a safe without being reduced to a bag of meat paste, that's a question, NO ONE can answer, like, why Joker hasn't been executed, since, he obviously knows what He's doing is illegal, both morally, legally, and ethically, but, continues to be placed in institutions he seems to have NO problem at all leaving, whenever he wants.

    No. I jumped straight into this comment section on seeing the tumbnail to warn you because my dad's friend's kid hid in a chillibin in the garage for hide and seek and died.
    They said that the vaccum suction of closing a chilli also makes it very difficult to open from the inside, so even when you feel yourself running out of air, opening the lid is too much hard work to be able to get out.
    He was only in there 10min before they *found* him dead.
    Sure a chest freezer has more air space than a chilli, and an adult is much stronger than a child. But a chilli uses a weak seal and a freezer uses a very strong rubber one.
    I'd still say you only have at most 20min in a freezer before you pass out.
    Do not use a chest freezer as an emergency bunker.
    Do not even practice using it for an emergency hideaway.
    Do not let kids play around with small sealable spaces while playing.

    • @Mel-qr5ob
      @Mel-qr5ob Před 3 lety +2

      If you want a hideaway that you can jump in then use a bathtub or something. Not a sealed space that would asphyxiate you.

    • @Mel-qr5ob
      @Mel-qr5ob Před 3 lety +2

      Actually I just did the maths properly and my estimate was off but close.
      You would pass out and probably die within 36min.
      But my guess was far closer than the video who suggested multiple hours.
      Working below
      At 10% conc CO2 can cause anything from convulsions to coma or death.
      Once you reach 10%, even if you don't die and are just convulsing or in a coma, you aren't able to open that freezer lid, you aren't concious enough to try, so will die regardless.
      ((Vol air in med 12ft^3 chest freezer - vol human is 1.76ft^3)*(limit of co2 is 10%))
      / ((No. People)*(hourly co2 of human 1.7ft^3))
      ((12 - 1.76)*(0.1))
      / ((1)*(1.7))
      = 0.6hrs = 36min

I guess they the thinking was it might help help freezer or ridge keep the stuff inside cool. If that's the case. It might provide some protection from radation. I doubt it would help with being sent flying through the air. thought.
