    • @veryimportantpooches2619
      @veryimportantpooches2619 Před rokem +2

      Incorrect. The firestorm theory was based on Hiroshima and Nagasaki where almost all the buildings were built from wood. Modern cities are predominantly brick and concrete. Firestorms will undoubtedly occur, it's just that the scale and size has been overplayed. Other factors like climate and weather at the time of the explosion also play a role.

The blast is the same temperature as the surface of the sun, only it's not 93,000,000 miles away, it's a cab ride down the street.

Being that this is much more likely it’s a shame the video didn’t cover aerial bursts and EMp. Secondly radiation is not as simple as waiting it out for two weeks. Some highly radioactive particles will still be deadly up to six weeks. Also remember that all outside water sources and air will be heavily contaminated for quite some time.

      Quite some time????!!!!!! It’s not weeks or months. It’s like 1000 years look at Chernobyl. no one can live in that radioactive Sinkhole for the next thousand years. imagine the whole world being like Chernobyl. Where are you going to get fresh clean water to drink? where are you going to get food once the supplies Are gone? there will be nothing growing
      nothing living in the nuclear winter. Darkness forever. no medical aid, all friends dead and gone, air filled with radiation too hot to breathe.

    Taking 15 minutes to get to a shower and change of clothes means you have absorbed 25% of the 1000 R/hr radiation emitting near the blast. That is 250 Rads which is roughly 25 Gray. Dosages in Gray is like earthquakes on the richter scale-the numbers get serious really quickly. 1 gray is tolerable, 2 gray may not kill you if treated quickly by docs, 3 gray you're probably going to die quite painfully in a few weeks. Hypothetical shower man would be lucky to even have motor function after 15 minutes receiving a 25 Gray dose.

    1. get behind a structurally sound wall if you know the bomb is coming
    2. close your eyes if possible (the light can blind you for 10 min, up to 35 even)
    3. you probably have up to 10-20 min to gather your family and find a safe shelter after the initial drop
    4. staying inside or in a covered area that is unlikely to fall or be affected by the heat is smart
    5. a medium level nuke bomb's majorly affected areas are in a 2km radius around the drop point

    Thank you for the video. Most interesting.
    I have friends that are survivors of the Chenobyl nuclear disater living in Kiev at the time. The father was alledgely outside dooing roofing work and suffered radaition sickness but survived. The whole family were issues with papers to formally recognise them as survivers of the disaster. I think an important issue not covered in this video is about the radioactive dust/radio isotopes that continue to be around in the environment outside the blast zone for days or years. Things like Idoine 131 & 128, Radioactive Ceasium (I think it's 138, Cobolt 60, Strontium 90, ect. From having done a fair bit of research into the reccomended government guidelines for iodine if in risk of a nuclear disaster it's reccomended to take potassium idodide in approx 125mg tablets immidiatley. The main highest accutely damaging radioisotope of idodine (I-131) is I believe degraded to almost close to 100% after 3 months. The government in USSR at the time I believe issued potassium iodide tablets to their citizens. This protected people in the Ukraine with iodine diffecientcy (which over 95% have according to Dr David Brownstien) from uptaking the radioactive iodine in the Ukraine. Unfortunatley I heard surrounding countries like Poland's government didn't issue iodide tablets and so they had a high rate of thyroid cancer 20years later. Potassium iodide tablets are easily available at around 125mg for any cheap survival kit for anyone living near a radioactive powerplant or at risk of a meltdown. The instructions provided by government say don't even bother to break them in half for children, give them a full tablet is it's considered relatively safe. I have personally been taking potassium idodide for years in 12-50mg daily and even up to 500mg on occasion as this was a common dose as a cough expectorant (and I got no adverse reaction) or more to help cure thyroid disease from iodine deficientcy and therefore according to Dr David Brownstien would not likley uptake much if any radioactive iodine in the event of a disaster. I personally would take the potassium iodide tablets for the full 3 months directly after a nuclear disaster till the radioactive iodine 131 in the environment has broken down and not dangerous.
    I've not researched into methods for safe suppliments that may help for exposure for other common radioisotope exposure like ceasium-138 cobolt-60 or strontium-90. Non radioactive strontium is sold as without prescription as a health suppliment for increasing bone mass for osteoperosis and used in dentistry after dental sergery to help heal strong jaw bone. I wonder if taking plenty of safe levels of non-radioactive strontium suppliment would help the body to not uptake so much radioactive strontium-90 in much the same way that potassium iodine tablets help to not uptake radioactive iodine?
    Another suppliment worth researching (I've not done any) is the boron. Dr Jorge Flechas has interesting leacutres reccomending that places like Israel and Turkey people consume 50-75mg per day and it prevents osteoperosis as a health suppliment. So the interesting thing about natural boron element is it contains a mixture of non-radioactive isotopes. One of the non-radioactive (safe) isotopes in natural boron is a neutron aborber. This is why when the USSR did the cleanup of Chernobyl they dumped heaps of boric acid on the meldtown and covered it in all 3 dimentions with tonnes of concrete. I wonder if taking 50-75mg of boron could help to safely absorb some neutron radiation from inhalation of radioactive dust/isotopes.
    Personally I'd try to not just stay indoors but try to seal windows, doors, with tape, use an industrial grade air purifyer (such as used in bush fires for smoke) and wear a good quality dust mask with rubber seals around the nose and a valve to breathout, if you don't have a proffessional chemical mask or fully sealed in hazmat suit.
    I cheap geiger counter is also very useful so long as it has an actual geiger muller tube inside (making it legit) and isn't a fake toy from ebay containing no geiger muller tube. I got a quite reasonble one from Aliexpress for about $80 that had good teardown and reviews on youtube and I've tested it on pleny of radioactive sources to check like an old antique radiam watch, Americium from a radioactive (Ionising) smoke detector), Fake anti-5g radiation stickers that contained radioactive thorium. Perfect for cheap indication of hard beta, Gamma and Xray. I also own a much more expensive pancake geiger tube counter but this isn't nessesarry. It can also detect weak beta (such as tritium glow sticks) and alpha but is made of thin mica membrane easily torn/damaged and nowhere near as durable in the field.
    Geiger counters don't tell you what radioactive material you are testing they just beep like crazy for anything radioactive so a cheap reasonable quality one is good in empergencies or hobby use as an indicator if the area is unsafe or for example there's after a contaminated area is now better but theres hot spots such as been water runnoff from a roof to a gutter downpipe that's accumulated in a point on the ground that now has very radioactive dust/soil and not suitable for growing anything. They are generally not precice enough for testing radiation in food as only very tiny amounts of radiation in food can be quite dangerous and difficult to detect above the normal backround radiation (unless you want to build an expensive enclosure out of lead bricks to block backround radiation. And if you want to detirmine the exact radioactive material (radioisotope) you need a much more expensive scintilator (such as a portable polymaster again not nessisary). Best to send food or products needing anaylsis into a lab as for example there is a decent amount of radioactive potassium 40 in building material and in regular (considered safe) natural potassium salt sold for human comsuption.
