Man, this was a super helpful guide for the changing of the filters. It made my life so much easier just now with my filter replacement! Thanks so much!
Hey man 2 years later and this video is still helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make this!
You are very welcome!
Very well done. I would offer a few tweaks. Every 2 or 3 years or so, you need to do a super-duper clean, i.e., you never know what kind of mold or bacteria is lurking; therefore, I would add a step in there that includes a diluted bleach solution. On mine, I took off all the housings for stages 1 - 4, put them in the sink, and scrubbed them with soapy hot water.
I know they said don’t unhook the tubing to stage 4 membrane housing; however, disconnecting the tubing is really the only way to really clean that membrane housing (mine was a little funky inside). They probably just thought people would forget how it was all hooked up; so I took pics along the way.
I used a pair of rubber-coated tongs and a wad of paper towels, since I didn’t have a good long scrubber and scrubbed the insides. Then I rinsed. Then I filled all 4 housings about 60 to 70% full with hot water and then filled them up the rest of the way with bleach; I mixed it up and let it sit there, upright, in the sink for 5 or 10 minutes. Note: you have to plug the holes for the stage 4 membrane filter housing for it to hold water (you can use the plugs that come with the new filters).
I also used this as an opportunity to apply some bleach solution to the t-fitting of the new stage 5 carbon filter t-connector (the one that comes with a t-connector attached), as instructed. Then, after about 5 - 10 minutes of wet time, I rinsed everything really well (like rinsing for 10 good minutes, cumulatively, for all 4 housings).
I also put the metal frame of the assembly, turned it upside down, and put it in the sink, and did a similar soap & water scrub, plus bleach decontamination with the top of the housing that the stage 1 through 2 housings screw onto.
Note: this cleaning process was most necessary for the stage 1 filter as it will always be the dirtiest. But I like the idea of doing a thorough cleaning on everything every 2 to 3 years.
Also of note: I think when they say don’t touch the 4th stage membrane, they are assuming our pliers are cleaner than our hands. I’m down with using some pliers to remove the membrane; however, I know where my pliers have been; therefore, I chose to put the new membrane in by grabbing it with a paper towel (instead of pliers, to avoid touching it with my hands or pliers, while still keeping it as sterile as possible.
Note; every few years, I would say change the stages 1 - 3, O-rings (not sure if you can buy the stage 4 O-rings but it wouldn’t hurt if you can find them). But in between those 2 - 3 year intervals, if you are changing them every 6 to 12 months, probably just a fresh thin coat of plumbers grease (Vaseline) is sufficient, after cleaning them thoroughly.
I do like to waste 3 tanks of water before using, albeit, the 3rd tank is likely overkill.
By the way, I had the ROES-PH75 for 4 or 5 years. I upgraded, recently, to the "APEC Water Systems Ultimate RO-Hi Top Tier Supreme Certified High Output Fast Flow" and also purchased the "APEC Water Systems PHPLUSKIT-38" kit. Both purchases were just a few bucks more than the ROES-PH75. It gives you the exact configuration as the ROES-PH75 but it adds in the 3/8 tubing and connections which allows for a faster water flow out of the faucet. You should put some Amazon aff links to this upgrade in your description.
My dream setup: eventually, I want to run the stock APEC 4 gallon tank and APEC's 20-gallon tanks in random (for crazy pressure and capacity), if I ever get a place with a convenient garage or basement location to put the 20-gallon tank. Actually, in a perfect world, I would put the filters assembly and the tanks in a garage or basement, just in case, there is ever a leak; and then I would just have feeder lines coming into 2 or 3 faucets in the house and the fridge.
That’s my 2 cents:)
Best!
I wasn't comfortable changing these filters out. So naturally I CZcamsd it and found your video. Nicely done and step by step. Thank you for doing this.
Of all the APEC System Filter Replacement videos I’ve watched (7 Total!!), your’s contains more preps/ideas/things to know BEFORE you go through this procedure, along with ideas to make this task more enjoyable [rather than a disaster!]. I truly Thank YOU for making & posting this video - Kudos!!!🇺🇸
I've watched many as well, this one seems like the best as well
Thanks for explaining in detail. You made it look so easy. I will re watch your video before I replace all my filters as soon as the replacement filters arrive this week. Also glad you reminded me to buy O rings as well.
Thank you for making this! Being a visual learner, the instructions weren't super clear, but having this as an aid made it so much easier!
Good job on this video! I am prepping to make my first 5 filter replacement. Your video clarifies the written instructions and allows me to be more confident I will be successful. Thank you!!!
Thank you for making this video for DIYers! You made it so easy and I ❤️ the 'lefty loosey' tips and the cute pumpkin bucket. You've demystified a seemingly overwhelming process. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Very impressive, you made a very detailed, helpful, and informative video. APEC should give you a lifetime of filters for a job well done, Thank You
Thanks for watching!
Great video. I like how you showed on camera all the steps we need to take, especially with all the tubes we needed to disconnect and connect.
Thank you!! Every time I change the filters I come here. The video is so helpful!
So glad I saved this to a water filter folder in my play list so I can get a refresher when I need to change it again. Thanks for your video
Tip for those tight screw on connections, put a small amount of Vaseline on the threads. This tip was included in the housing instructions for both my whole house filter and my countertop filter. Makes unscrewing them way easier.
Thank you! I was a bit afraid to change the filters but I felt very confident after watching your video!
Thank you for taking the time to make an in depth, fully detailed video: great job! Cheers
Sir, thanks for taking the time to make this, it's super helpful. I really appreciate it!
Great video. Thank you. I was stuck in the installation process and that helped me to get the job done
Thanks
Thanks, this was my first filter change and this video was super helpful and really appreciated!
Thanks for this video. Mine is side-mounted and hard to get access to the top of, which makes it much harder to change Stage 4s. I hope more plumbers can install them in a way that makes them easier to move around and work with like here! It helped a lot to see someone do it.
Thank you very much for doing this video! House we bought came with one of these and this video helped out greatly! It sure made this a LOT easier! Thanks again!! :)
Nice job- thank you for your thoughtful, step-by-step coverage. It was appreciated.
You're very welcome!
This guide was very helpful. The APEC system is easy to use and maintain. Great product!
Thanks Man. I was a little reluctant (scared) to tackle this job. You gave me the confidence to move ahead.
thank you so much. excellent tutorial. just what I needed.
Its my first time to change our drinking water filter, with your video i manage to change the 1-3 stage filter.
Thank you for sharing this video.❤
Because of your video, my wife is demanding I change out the filters in Apec.
Next is changing filters on our pelican Water conditioning system, after that Hansing saltless water softener.
After that vacuum the house, after that go grocery shopping together, after that water the lawn, after that I die on this Saturday. Thanks.
😅 because of my wife, I made this video and I changed the filters, welcome to the club
Very helpful indeed! Followed the video step by step to replace my APEC filter stages.
Very helpful presentation brother. Made my life easy. Followed your instructions step by step. Thanks for your help.
Very helpful video. Thanks. The only thing which I found helpful from other videos which is different in this one is that one can remove all 3 stage filter container at once and then install them all together rather than doing it one by one.
Great job!... Complete in every detail. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this great instructional video. I'm getting ready to order my replacement filters and I feel confident that I can do it myself.
Anytime 😊 thank you for watching!
Very helpful! Truly appreciated. I saved a lot of time because of your video
Thank you! It did help me in replacing the filters.
Thank you for the excellent video. I really appreciate how detailed you were and how well you explained what you were doing. Also, thanks for shooting it so that I could see every step. I don’t know what brand my system is because it came with my house, like yours, but it has no brand name on it. However, the connections look basically the same as yours so I think I could use the filters you did. I only have a five stage but I think it will be fine. Thank you again.
Apec does have systems with just 5 stages.
Thank you!
Best video ever! You should do this four a living on all products!
Thank you so much for this video so helpful. I had the same problem with the membrane cannot get it loose. Need to wait for someone to help me too! OMG.
Good video. I have the same system and love it!!! I am 1 yr into using this system and looked for instructional vids and yours came up the best for this process. Good job!!!
Thank you for watching!
@@NewParentsInTraining I forgot to mention, it is also a good idea to ad the to apply Molykote 111 food grade compound to ad life to the O'Rings. I had to come back a re-watch this video as a re-freshers course. Lol!
didn't know that, thanks for the tip!
thank you for this excellent video....I think I can do this now!
Just got this system thanks for the info🤙
Thanks for the step by step video, very helpful
great video. thanks for your hard work!
Thank you so much Man ! I really appreciate this video. You made it easy. God Bless
So helpful. Thank you so much!
I just changed out all my filters all by myself after watching your video again. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! It was so helpful! My system was a little different because the stage 5 doesn't come with a new T junction. I am supposed to use the old one. I think my system is older than yours. Thanks again!
Nice, glad it was helpful! No need to change anything other than the filters and the O-Rings.
@@NewParentsInTraining Also, your city's/town's water quality is frightening. I waited almost a year longer than I should have to change out the first 3 filters, and it was a slightly orangey yellowy brown, but not that dirty looking, and definitely not black...
Yep, that's Houston water for ya 😅
This is so helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank You! Great Job ! 👍👍👍. I love this system Apec
Really helpful! Thanks so much.
Excellent video!!!
I like how the tank is tucked behind the piping. Really saves you some room.
Helpful. Thank you.
I thought I would need a plumber until I found you and your video. Thank you for sharing and caring!
Thanks for this video. Appreciated.
Thanks--this really helped!
Thank you so much for making this video
awesome work, thanks for your help
Very Helpful, Friend ! Thank you.
This was VERY helpful. Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Any tips on how to get the really tight cap off of the membrane housing? We’re using the tool it came with, and we have two people, and it’s still not budging.
Without you I couldn't take away that white wire from filters. Thank you for helping me
Great video! Could you please let me know where I can find the serial number on this item? I have the UV version and they have a different replacement depending on the serial number and I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!
Omg thank you so very much. Perfect explanation…better than Apec 🎯thank you ❤
Thank you for making the video. Just to double check... The Alkaline filter takes the water from the tank and then goes directly to the faucet?
Mine didnt come with a new T on Stage 5. Should I still bleach my existing T before replacing it?
great video
i have the ET6500gro will these filters work on mine. please advise. Thank you
I really enjoy your video, was very well explained
Glad you enjoyed it!
I replaced filters but when turn on water. it comes out very slow untill stop. I controlld all filters when I controll for membrane filter pipe out. water didn't come out or a little. can you lead me what is wrong. Thanks
My 6th filter tube just popped out and drained the whole tank. I inserted the tube back into the 6th filter. After about a couple of hours it popped out again. How should I secure the tube so it won’t pop out again?
Hi! Did you ever try to flush the filter with tank closed? If so ..did you have slow running water or few drops...? Thanks!
Great video! Clear step by step instructions on how to do a full swap out. One question: did anyone go through this, turn their system back on and notice that the water flow was a bit slow - and choppy? I can't tell if this is a normal part of the break-in period for new filters or something else. FWIW, I don't see any leaks in any of the systems. Any advice is appreciated!
Have you ever figured it out? I am scared of this as well
Thank you so much! I'm so grateful for this video. 🙏
Wish I watched this video before attempting to change the filter! Key takeaways:
Turning off the water first (common sense I didn’t have)
Bucket is a must have!
Changing the filters left to right will save you some pain.
Preorder the rings! This is a must, the o rings should really come with the filters. Would have saved me a huge headache trying to figure out why there is a leak with the first filter change.
Very helpful...thank you
Thanks for this... very helpful!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you
Thanks so much!!!
Thanks!
You made it so easy to change these filters! Now my only issue is I can’t open the membrane lol
السلام عليكم. شكرآ على المحتوى. .. ما هي. اسماء المراحل بع. اللمبرين والغاية من تركيبها. شكرا..
Does anyone know what the TDS of this filter is supposed to read once you change it? I noticed it was 90-100 total dissolved solids. I know there is a final “remineralization” stage, but I didn’t think it would read that high.
So quick question- I noticed your first stage is the finer filter - shouldn't this go last so the larger filters pick up the larger objects first?
Thank you for this, a much needed video that APEC didn't even have for this particular model! For the O-rings, do we switch out every year or 2-4 yrs? And we need just 3, correct? And do you have a link on Amazon for this? I can't seem to find it. Thanks in advance!
APEC Replacement O-Ring - amzn.to/3896WBT. For the o-rings, you should change them every time you open up the stage 1-3 housing. I change stage 1-3 once a year, so I replace the o-rings when I am changing the filters.
Great video. I would suggest using two strap wrenches for the membrane.
Great video dude
Appreciate it
Thank you!!!
Wow, that filter is nasty! This is very helpful when in the future I decide to install one and replace it. Thanks for sharing!
It was very helpful review for me, big thanks. Just one thing, please, remove that outlet from the sink at least 5 ft away and make it GFCI. ) thanks for help
For PH75 systems, Stage 4 & 5 need to be changed out once 2-4 years
For PH90 systems, Stage 4 & 5 need to be changed out once 3-5 years
Our system is the PH75, so it should be 2-4 years, the photos I took were from a PH90 system, sorry about the confusion!
This was a great video. Really helped my wife and I. We ended up emptying the the tank before finding your video. Now we have followed the steps you showed (we only replaced the three bottom filters ) and the water seems to drip out. Do we need to wait for the tank to fill? Is this a pressure issue?
Thank you for watching! Yes, since you have already emptied out the tank, you do need to wait till the tank is filled again before the water come out normally. Don't use the water, wait for about 30 minutes or so before usage. By the way, if you just changed your filters, then you do need to cycle through the tank at least once before drinking the water.
super excellent
Excellent video. I am researching the APEC RO. Are you still happy with your unit and does it still maintain the clean flow rate?
It's been 5 years with no issues, just the regular filter changes that's it.
How do you cycle a tank of water? How do you know the water is good to drink?
Wow never seen one that bad. Thanks for posting.
Thanks .
Hi, I like your informative video, one question, please explain why is my red tube discharge water is keeping leaking, thank you
Thank you for watching! The only thing I can think of is that the line is not attaching correctly. Try take the line off and reattach it.
how long does it take to drain the tank?
always run water thru the sed and the carbon before you run it thru the membrane, you can expel a lot of carbon fines that would end up in the membrane, and also put a bypass on the flow restrictor and clean your membrane ever 2 or 3 weeks, you will love the results
Nice video thanks
thank you for watching!
hey so i messed up a little. i had the stage 4 tubbing and stage 5 mixed around. i had the cross thing hooked to the stage 4 instead of 5 like you do. did that ruin the filters? should i just get new filters?
You should contact Apex.
This video was sooo helpful. Thank you so much! The written directions were not as good as you!
