- He may only be 20, but his chances of winning the Olympic 1500 Meter gold medal, are extremely high.
Since 2016, we've watched this runner grow from a promising young prodigy to a worldwide phenomenon, and with such intense and steady improvements for the previous few years, his chances of grabbing an Olympic Gold are very realistic.

This video aged very well 🥇 Can’t wait to see what his future holds!
Seems it worked 👍🏼
Ye
aged like fine wine by now
Wow, your predictions for Tokyo were bang on! Fast paced, fast finish, Olympic record for Jakob Ingebrigtsen!! 👌
I'm jealous that his hair always looks so good when he's racing....
FORREAL , man i b lookin like dog shit
His mom is a hair dresser.
Strong hold Hairspray?

Weekly mileage has been 181.5 km, as he just stated on a norwegian podcast. he laughed of all the youtubers having it too low :) Another quick fact he stated: He has never in his life run more than 20 km in one run, as is his normal longrun each sunday. He also humeously tells us that he very very rarely stop his watch at e.g 10.01 on a 10k easyrun. almost always stopping at 10.00 or else he feels he must subract the 0.1 on the next workout XD Such precision!
A correct prediction. Well done
Thank you for the picture of the brick for reference
whos here after jacob got the gold :D
His saturday workout isn't 2x(20x200m) uphill, but 2x(10x200). In case anyone wants to implement it in their workout routine. Thanks for increasingly quality content, sir TRP :) Also, the incline usually is around 4-6%, not too steep. This way you get more speed than very steep hills, but still makes the running less heavy on the legs than flat running.
Anyone here after he won gold with a 3:28
i am here after watching the 1500m tokyo olympics...and wow you guys totally predicted his superstar status. And he won it by waiting to kick at the very last 150m!! Fantastic
sounds like your analysis about the pace of the olympic final of 1500 was preeetty accurate. Well done.. as always !
wow what a prediction!
And now he got gold🥳
Gold medal prediction aged very well 🥵🥶
And total running productions, this is your best video yet, it was suppppper engaging
Now Jacob won Olympics GOLD in Tokyo ...new middle distance runner lagend born
One of your best videos so far 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for putting together so many interesting details.
I'm happy Tim cheuriyot is gonna be running, hell actually take and out not run a tactical race. Him and Jakob are gonna put up some fast times
Good video! It is amazing how Jakob is getting faster and faster
Bro, the narration and music choice is on point!!!! These short videos are just as exciting as the races themselves!! I wish you continued success! You have a real talent for storytelling and video editing!
And you were right! Jacob took in a race you discribed.
He has actually improved a lot. In WC 2019 Doha he went out too early and finished his power before the last 100m but last month on Diamond League he knew exactly when to get out. GREAT improvement 😃
Nice video! You were certainly on the right track with respect to this terrific young athlete.
Thanks for making this video . Its super informative for an ordinary fan like me who's dying for in depth knowledge lacking in most sports commentaries.
From the future here. He won the 2021 Olympic 1500m final...
You nailed it. Congrats
Your analysis is bang on . I m highly impressed
As I said 1 year ago. Anyone who thinks this boy won't reign as king for years to come do not know what they are talking about. It has just begun. Swallow your egos, even kill yourselves. This is the king and he will reign. He will not show mercy. He will break all w records from 1500-10000
Now he's got it.
what a great video. brilliant editing and narration.
Running has just become interesting again. Fastest group of runners ever. Loads of young athletes getting scorching times. I’m actually going to watch the Olympics this year.
Great video, can't wait for the Games!!
Man the production quality on these videos has gone way up these last couple videos. Keep up the great work!!
All races from 100m to marathon will be epic, i hope all athletes are healthy
Yoish! Total Running Productions! Thank you so much for putting on this channel. I am a old guy that likes to run barefoot and have been off the grid for years. I now have a farm with the electrical connection, hooked up to the net. I was beginning to become rather sick of the shit that is on youtube. When i found your channel. Thank you so much.

The Ingebrigtsen's are dialed in on training. Only way Jakob doesn't medal is if an injury creeps up and that likely won't stop him either
You predicted that race to the very last detail! Brilliant vid as always
Great vid! Jakob is a beast!
Jakob is becoming a household name at this point, I think he's got a massive chance at that gold
His 5k & 3k cemented him as one of the greats of our time tbh. I hope he improves more throughout the years.
White boy got fans 😂
@@Max__apex I mean work hard train hard, get good times anyone can get fans, I just think it's interesting because he's the first non african to really really compete with the east african runners since galen rupp
I think this was a joke because Kiplimo's name is jacob/jakob aswell?
@@jonathanbosma2546nah
If Jakob can maintain his health being injury free I'll go with him.
Just looking at his weekly program gives me injuries already
Go. Go with the king of all time
You turned out to be absolutely correct!

Ingebrigsten keeps getting better I reckon he’ll have tough competition but I think he will bring home gold if he has a perfect race!
This aged very well! Kudos!
Last time I was this early Bekele had a few more world records. :)
World class videos. Keep it up!
Update: Jakob won olympic gold at Tokyo 2021
Wow! Prophetic. I predicted Centro being knocked off the podium. I didn't see him missing the final. But, I had Cheruiyot winning and Ingebritzen second with possibly Cole Hocker third (wrong!).
I saw 20x400 and said holy shit aloud
4:17 threshold pace is more casually defined as your average pace on an all-out 1-hour run. As such, he would be going pretty much all out running a half marathon in under an hour. Threshold pace rises the longer you run, so if Bill's threshold pace is 8min/mile and he runs 45 minutes, at the end of the 45 minutes it will be a fair bit higher than 8min/mile.
Yes the threshold will be but you dont run faster than threshold at the end of any race because you switch to anaerobic the last minutes to win :-)
The threshold is not an all out 1hour, its what you can hold in 1hour without get to much lactate. They find out the threshold in an all out 1hour run, but the speed at the end is maybe 25km/h
@@laurits3342 you're almost there
My man, again with the absolute amazing choise of music, incredible video and great timing and delivery! Please share what piece of music did you use for this video.
It's Classical Drama by Peter Godfrey, found it in Shazam :)
Well done and accurate forecast.
Remarkably prescient. Great call, TRP !!
I think every country should have high altitude training camp for their national athletes where there are no distractions etc like Kenyans do it. Let them stay there and train as a group to push each other
I've watched all Jakob's race, how he lost, half way in2 winning, stumbled & fall but never loses self. Determined & dedicated athlete that he is.,& hard work paid off....
Competition in distance events is so incredible right now that if he gets a medal will be excellent. He definitely can, but there aren't really any favorites other than maybe timothy in 1500, and people are getting closer.
There is a interview with Jakob in the Norwegian podcast "I det lange løp" released last Friday. He comments that the mileage he usually runs per week is exactly 181,5 km, not 160 as described here. He also comments that he think it's funny that other people think they know his weekly mileage, and that they usually guess too little. He also says that he is very strict with his plan and that he never runs one meter extra, example given if he has a 10 km on his plan, he stops exactly on 10,00 km and walks the rest. That is why he says it is usually 181,5 km per week. No more , no less. 👍
I think Tim C is gonna get the gold over Jakob, but as long as he's healthy, I think Jakob has well over a 90% chance at medalling.
I only choose Tim C over him because he showed that he was in about 3:26 shape at Monaco, and if it had been better paced, I think he would've been #2 all time, possibly beating the WR.
Jakob has shown that he's consistently improving though, so there's a good chance that next year he'll be in 3:27 or 3:26 shape. It's so exciting to see 2 of the fastest 1500m runners of all time at their peaks, going towards an Olympic final.
One more prediction: the Olympic 1500m will be fast, possibly Olympic Record fast, due to Tim C always going out hard. I think he'll go out fast to try to remove the chance of anyone not in 3:28 shape or faster of getting first. We saw in the 2019 champs that he can completely solo a 3:28, so I don't doubt that he can do it again. I'd bet he'll be in even better shape next year too.
i wouldn’t say Jakob is in his prime yet
Agreed. He’s got another 2-4 years before prime
Tim C lmao, I don’t blame you for that, his surname is a nightmare to spell
timothy cheruiyot its out of the games, so not gonna happen.....
@@rodrigogorosito4206 yeah, and i dont think jakob is running the 1500m. can anyone confirm which events jakob is running in Tokyo?
This aged well

Thanks for the picture of a brick. Helps clear up any confusion. Sorry, couldn't resist that 😁
Great videos.
I've never been into running, but this guy sparked something in me, im so interested
Jakob was on a Norwegian podcast this week where he talked about forums and videos talking about how they talk about his training and that they are all off.. 160km a week he did when he was 14, now he’s running 181,5
Jakob's 1500 this year was 3:28.68 at 19 years old that equals 3:45.37 mile, a vast improvement from the previous year. Does anyone not see how much improvement that was from the year before. He is a very young man that will likely have another big improvement. Timothy Cheruiyot is a great runner but at 25 may not improve as much as Jakob. Two great runners it will be interesting to see if they could both break the world record in the Olympics. They should both go out in a strong pace to prevent the rest of the field out kicking them in a slow tactical race.
Not sure bout jakob with gold medals, Kiplimo is right there in the middle distances
And Cheruiyot too. But I still think he can medal for sure
@@NamiseSports pretty even in my opinion anyone’s medal at this point. Their pbs are all within a second of each each other, it’s just who has it on the day
Kiplimo is great, but he is not a 1500m runner. He is a strong medal contender in the 5000m and 10000m, though. (There is no 3000m, half marathon, or XC-races in the Olympics)
@@charlesthorndike2702 he definitely has a shot in the 5k and 10k, but there’s also cheptegei and mo Farah to worry about..
What part of kiplimo isn't running the 1500 do u not understand
i don't think its a coincidence that this came out right after season 4 episodes subtitled were uploaded
explain?
@@filipegp7 theres this show called team ingebrigsten which is about the lives of the ingebrigsten family. recently 2 episodes from season 4 (which is this year) came out
with english subtitles on youtube. it would've given him more insight into his training. Yes even a tv show is some sort of research. I'm also pretty sure he found out where he is currently training from his instagram. dont blame trp, you gotta do what you gotta do.
@@Daniel-nr1dh oh yeah I found out about it the day after I made that comment, my bad.. thanks
I really hope he keeps improving, it would be nice for his country and his family to win a medal. But I just hope he doesn’t get burned out as many young athletes do when they train hard at a young age.
based on this video, it seems like they are being very careful in their training
He is just SO GOOD! WOW!
Well, Jakob got the gold medal in Tokyo hours ago. Amazing.
the preview for this video is hilarious

3:02 Surely this isn’t what it is going to take for me to get to the olympics, ITS INSANE
I'd love to see Jakob win. As a Brit, it'd be great to see Jake get a medal too. Regardless of the result, it'll be a great race
At min 2:30 is running in the track of Chiavenna my hometown . That track has seen a lot of champions in the last 6-7 years (Farah,Centrowiz,Hassan,Jager to mention some)
Jakob likely doesn’t have the kick to match an East African. He should just go for a steady pace and not get boxed in. Hardest way to race though. He’s still getting stronger so I think he may surprise us all. I think he’ll be one of the greatest ever within 4 years.
yo the music made me hella hyped lmao
Oh hell yes keep that Ingebrigsten content COMING
Actually, Jakob does most of his training with lactate levels below 1.7, averaging maybe 1 workout per week above this number. This was explained by Gjert in a podcast where he basically said that the speeds which Jakob run at when he has lactate above 1.7 are so high that it's too big of a strain on his muscles to do consistently. Basically, he is so fast that he needs to run with very low lactate levels to limit speed and strain.
Jakob will bring it home. It's a Norwegian thing when they reach this level. He actually learns from not his mistakes but from calculations and formulas that are imprinted in his memory register. According to plan is his stronghold and that plan is spot on. Wait and notice how he notice and waits in a very fast pace and suddenly shocks with 250 to go. Absolute poetry in motion and theory.
Sounds like you need to just get the kneepads out and get to work on him.
Jakov is an incredible runner. I would fear him if I was running against him.
How do you know that Jakob has that lactate threshold?
Thanks for your videos, they’re amazing
Cheriyout is just to strong, and there is nothing pointing against him. Jakobs chances of medal will depend if he choses to run both the 1500 and the 5000 or just the 1500. In Doha you could easily see that he spent to much energy in the 5000 prelims and finals and in the 1500 heats and prelims and had nothing in the tank for the final. So I would say no medal for Jakob if he runs both, and silver if he runs just the 1500. If you ask me his best chances for a gold is actualy in the 3000m SC. He allready has ran the 2000m SC in junior level so his technique should be just fine.
Edit: grammar
I agree. A double would destroy a potential for a medal in either event. He isn't El Guerrouj. Plus the schedule of events is absolutely not conductive to the 1500/5000 double
This is a really good point, I think he should just do the 1500m in the Olympics and go for silver, there's a slim chance it will cost him a medal if he just chooses the 1500m, but its definitely worth the risk I like your point that he probably has the most talent in the 3000m steeplechase. He showed potential before but he never truly set forth on that event. I predict in 2-3 years, his performances will get a little bit weaker in the 1500m and 5000, and instead of retiring he will transition to the 3k steeple-like Evan jager.
When you were naming off the contenders in the 2019 World 1500m, I was like “Wait why didn’t you mention Mahkloufi?” Then I remembered he doped lol
I think jakob haven't the experience to take a gold metal but i think if his pace is extremely fast at the start is the biggest change to do this
The Ingebrigtsens are notoriously mentally strong, exp might not be such a big factor. But we'll see what happens. Very exciting whoever wins 🙂
I wish Jakob good luck and strong health in Tokyo 2021!!! Run forward!!!
He won the gold ! ! !
trp you should make a video about sydney mclaughlin’s hunt for gold at tokyo
I wish him well- he's certainly advancing quickly but does he have the blazing finishing kick legends like Bekele and Gerrouj had?

Great 👍👍👍👍👍👍 bro
I love Jakob and i felt so bad for him in 2019 after the world champ races, but what changed my mind and filled me with confidence for Tokyo was the 2000m time and 3,000m times in 2020 which were some of the best ever, then in 2021 when he destroyed everyone including Joshua Cheptegei in that 12:48 5 k race, That blew me away as I was totally not expecting that. After that race and his striking improvement I knew he would win gold and I screamed at the TV, and yelled and laughed and was so happy that day and I did the same just a few weeks ago when he returned to the world champs and won the 5k , not only won but how easy it looked for him atoning for 2019 when he crashed to the track. Jakob is just the most exciting personality in all sports for me too watch 😊😊
