- TPRS Demo: Most of a 30-minute TPRS class for students with no previous Mandarin Chinese. Highlights both TPRS and classroom management elements through subtitling. Sorry for video framing -- this was shot with an iPad by an observer in the back of the room so lots of backs of student heads, and sometimes cuts in the "action"..

Wow you are really an excellent instructor! I've been learning Chinese for several years from a tutor but just discovered TPRS. Seems like a very natural method and you express it very well and enthusiastically.
Terry, you are such a master!! So many gems packed in one lesson!!! I would pay to watch your lessons~~~ PAID CHANNEL, PAID CHANNEL!
I loooooooved this!! I just found out about TPRS in another video and came across this video because I want to learn Mandarin. Your class seems like a lot of fun and you're a great teacher!
Would love to have you for a student!! :-)
Learned a ton from you, Terry! Thank you very much.
Please upload more lessons!
I love this. I'm going to read your book, but can we do the same with characters?
This is amazing
Looove it.
很好 - 谢谢 你- I learned a lot. :)
Very helpful demo, thank you. I'm wondering if one could teach a 1 hour or even 1.5 hours class only using TPRS? Wouldn't it be too tiring or overwhelming for both the teacher and the students? It would be great if someone could share your experience.
Of course. We teach only using TPRS all year. Of course it's not a good idea to do one activity with any student if it's going to last a whole hour. So we would do some TPRS, then do a "brain break" activity (something short, probably with some movement) and then return to oral input. We also do reading activities (many of them) which are not shown in this demo. And under TPRS, there are many different ways of providing input: talking about students, talking about pictures, talking about video clips, asking a story (as seen here). So there's plenty of variety to get you through a long period and a long school year.
Thank you for the amazing Demo Terry, I learned a lot from you teaching.
BTW, I tried to subscribe to your newsletter but this keeps popping out when I fill my name and email ."Account is cancelled and can not accept new subscribers." Do you know why?
Love this! I teach Spanish but am learning so much from you. Also, I want to learn Mandarin! Xie xie. : )
Terry: this is fantastic. I'm trying to implement TPRS in my Chinese classroom but not a lot of success so far. I'll keep trying. Also, how can I find the Guiseppe story? What is that? Thanks so much.
+Paul Jennens Hi, Giuseppe is published separately as an emergent reader. The readers are all on Amazon or at squidforbrains.com.
I am currently using Qtalk to teach Chinese. I also try to combine these two (Qtalk and TPRS) together in my class. my students love it.
How much do you charge to privately teach mandarin via Skype using th TPRS method?

Thank you for your information! But, I would like to know the ones on your left, on the walls that were not seen in the video. At the beginning you directed your students to look at the rules on the wall.
I would like to know about these.
Thank you very much for your prompt response!
