    Finally Chile 🇨🇱 👍🏼
    Nice to know: a couple of years ago, the Government of Israel had complaints about the shirt sponsor of CD Palestino, the Bank of Palestine. Israel requested the FIFA for sanctions against the club, if they won’t remove the sponsor. But Israel failed because of some kind of Infantinoish reason.

      It's a high school. Lots of high schools in Chile like to put themselves english names and use "college" to sound fancier, as it sounds similar to the spanish "colegio" (school). No relation to the actual Boston College in the USA.

      @@neilwhitaker6284 Yes, afaik the club is basically named after Bernardo O'higgins who is considered the most important founding father and the name of the region where the club is placed as well.
      Some clubs are somewhat related to foreign countries stories like Santiago Wanderers and Coquimbo Unido but can't remember a club related to Germany, which is rare considering their big influence in the southern zone.

    7:10 - A few years ago, the club used a map as the "1" in player numbers. The map was the 1967 borders of Palestine. For that, they were called "nazis" and "anti-semites".
    9:18 - The full story is that the yanks helped Augusto Pinochet overthrow the DEMOCRATICALLY elected government of Salvador Allende. September 11, 1973, 50 years ago, is the ONLY 9/11 that matters. The blood of 10,000 murdered by Pinochet's regime is on the yank government's hands. Who cares about 3000 dead yanks 20 years ago? Their own foreign policy killed them.

    • @neilwhitaker6284
      @neilwhitaker6284 Před 11 měsíci +5

      about 7:10 being called that is a badge of honour. On this issue I would see things like you. About 9:18 I would disagree. The history of Allende's rule is very interesting. Yes he was elected democratically but not with a majority and as part of a moderate left wing coalition. Because he didn't receive a majority the Congress chose the President. During his time in office he clashed with Congress and did undemocratic things himself. As a condition of being chosen by Congress he signed a deal with the Congress guaranteeing to observe the constitution. Later he claimed he did this for tactics and broke the agreement.
      Even though he was elected as a moderate he was held hostage by the extreme bolshevik elements of the coalition and in order to stay in power he acquiesced to their demands. In 1971 and 72 the government literally stole people's land, for example farms that were over 200 acres and nationalized industry (stole private property). By the end of 1972 the country was in chaos, inflation in the month of August 1972 was 120%. Exports from 1970 to 1972 fell by 25%. Food production fell because the land had been taken from the farmers who knew what they were doing and was now being run by left wing ideologues who didn't. See Rhodesia or the Russian famine of 1921 or the Holodomor to see what happens when Bolsheviks steal land from farmers.
      When people go hungry or hunger becomes a very real threat, when the economy starts crashing to a halt things happen. You may not like the results and tactics but something had to be done to get the bolsheviks out of power and stop disaster.
      Other than the curtailing of leftwing political agitation and activities the country was stabilized and prosperity grew under Pinnochet.

      @@neilwhitaker6284It is very true what you say, that is what really happened. Allende was an illegitimate president elected by compromise between politicians since he was tied in percentage with another candidate in votes and was elected by compromise. This gentleman Allende was the most disastrous thing that could happen to Chile, he left us with 606% inflation, there was terrorism, land seizures, he violated several articles of the Chilean constitution at that time and the Chamber of Deputies declared his government ILLEGITIMATE and it is where the armed forces enter into a military civic pronouncement.

    Always thought Palestino had a great handle and club colours but their stadium needs some serious renovation. I like the way that Estadio Luis Valenzuela Hermosilla is constructed on the outside, very innovative. Love the location of the Vina del Mar stadium but the stadium itself is so so and also love seeing the views of the Alps in the distance in a lot of these. There are a few weak ones but overall the stadiums in this league are pretty good. Disagree about the comments about the helicopter commander Pinnochet, civil war is never pretty and the bolsheviks had pretty much destroyed the place. That was the start of a period of stability and prosperity as many Chileans will tell you. Democracy is just the elites giving us the illusion of having a say and power. Ultimately one ideology is going to force their ideology on the others no matter what the system. All we can do is try to live our best lives whether our guy is in power or not!!!
