A priest told me that the proper posture for the laity in holy mass is having our hands together held at our chest just like the way Our Blessed Mother Mary. Btw the priest also told me that the orans posture or hands extended upwards is reserved only for the priest celebrant.
Yes! I only learned about this after 35 years as a Catholic, from a guy on Facebook...This should be TAUGHT everywhere.

I wish priests would tell the congregation about the Orans posture so everyone would know. It drives me crazy when they mimic the priest. If the mass has a deacon, they simply should notice that he does not mimic the priest in this way.

Excellent presentation. At my Catholic Church, the priest will ask us to pray over those who have a birthday that week and also when someone is receiving the Eucharistic hosts to take to others in the community. So, everyone, with the encouragement of the priest, extends their hand(s) toward the person. I do not do this because it feels so much like a Protestant action. What do others think about this? Am I wrong?

Wow amazing just got back from Adoration and saw this video on my notifications. I have being doing this with my hands and pressed against my heart for the last couple of years. I didn't now why now im thinking by Grace and imitating a picture of a beautiful picture of our Lady of Guadalupe that hangs below and beside a huge beautiful Crucifix of Our Lord. Our Lady of Guadalupe picture is a 3rd class relic. I keep saying if people where to ask me why i hold my hands this way i would always want to tell them that its my cell phone to Heaven and I'm praying from the heart. What a timely video.
