** My advice for anyone: be mindful when you go wildcrafting that violets are host plants for many butterflies. Leave some for nature and her children. **
Sarah Johnson yes you are right 💜💜💜
Yes! She mentioned all 3 of these points in her chickweed video :)
@@greylilycalligraphy She makes exquisite videos. Just didn't want folks to forget the fritillaries
she mentioned it at the end
Does violet syrup expire??
Looks beautiful and magical! Here we make Violet-"Spritzer" in spring, adding the syrup to white wine with sparkling water. Perfect for warm spring afternoons in the garden 🌿🌷
that sounds cool(I'm a baby witch)
😍 That sounds amazing!
Thanks! Will try that it sounds amazing!!
It is soooo good! Hope you all like it :) I might post a little tipsy witchcraft cocktail video, if people are interested 💚
Beautiful! I can imagine adding it to my homemade sparkling lemon mineral juice ☺️
I add violet syrup to seltzer water for a refreshing violet soda.
Yummy and so pretty! A welcome option on a cold , white, snowy day.
The syrup is basically a litmus paper. When the solution is acidic, it is pink. Basic is blue, and purple is neutral. The same thing happens with purple cabbage. Neat! I didn’t know violets have that property too. Thanks for the video
Beautiful! The pigment of flower petals is often based on the pH of the soil (pun intended), so if your syrup stayed purple then the flowers likely grew in acidic soil. More blue means more base (aka more alkaline). You can manipulate the color of snowball bush flowers this way by augmenting the soil with acids/bases :)
You're right. Maybe also the water pH can influence the result. Hard water, containing more calcium, can turn the infusion more blue. I've noticed that with my hibiscus tra, if I use tap water the first infusion is blue-ish, and it needs a longer infusion to get red, but if I use filtered water it gets red right from the start. pH can truly do some wonderful chromatic tricks 😁
Do you know anything about syrup turning green? I did my first batch and I think something messed up along the way
and that's why lemon changes the color to purple :)
@@annalisalundberg4561 Oh ya, pH all the way through the process can impart effects! Chemistry is a beautiful and magical thing in itself… pair that with magic and it’s even more spectacular!
Her's was blue though, and she neutralised it with lemon.
I just set up a hibiscus syrup inspired by this recipe for whenever I'm on my period or feel like I need the female energy properties of the hibiscus flower. thank you so much for inspiring me 🌺🖤
Ooo I love hibiscus I’m gonna have to try that
Hibiscus was the only thing that helped with my period
Where can you get hibiscus?
@@flyinglemons_9683 either grow it yourself, perhaps in tea shops, online but probably only dried or buy a live plant in a gardening store :)
Am I the only witch that lives in a tiny apartment? lol I mean, where do I get all the ingredients!!!
Lovely you can always grow your own herbs or visit a friend or family’s garden or just take a walk in the woods! Some farmers markets also have a lot of good herbs :)
You'd be surprised how much you can grow by your windows.. some plants like violets do very well in partial light. Otherwise, get your ingredients dried from herb wholesale or apothecary
As a green witch, I would have to die before I could live in an apartment and not have access to nature :)
So I am a 13 year old baby with that is going to move in an apartment. My mom is not a witch but we both live plants and I live cooking if you have a window or balcony try to hang some herbs and flowers! Since I am working to be a kitchen witch I will be spending A LOT OF TIME in the kitchen so this would be helpful for me but honestly everyone can benefit from this. Even non witches
😎
My grandmother used to take me with her to find violets to make the syrup. I remember watching her make it. One of my favorite memories 💜
What a wonderful memory!
Add the syrup to lemonade. Did a science experiment with my nieces. I didn’t expect it would have the flavor it did because violets don’t taste like much but it was lovely…and very very pink.
My first child used to love candied violets that I would make for him-thank you much honey ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Linda Mae Mullins that is just so sweet!!!! 💜💜💜
How do you make those?
You are an old wise woman, one from an English town , yes you was born with a gift of working with natural resources and Nature use it wisely green witch , blessed be
So strange, I harvested violets yesterday and have them soaking right now. I was about to go and finish the syrup when I saw your video recipe. Magical. I hope mine will turn out as beautiful a colour as yours! Stunning video as ever : )
Lotte Rolfe isn’t it lovely how magic works! ☺️💜 bless be~
I've used this recipe every year. Thank you so much. It's my favorite thing so far in herbal crafting so far. This is year 3.
The link to the foraging video takes me to a favorite spring herbs video
My yard is full of violets! Yay!!
I made this! My "will forage for food" group freaked out when I showed them. They couldn't believe I got the color to stay. Thank you for making this so easy.
The color change is like the butterfly pea tea, it brews a rich royal blue and when you change the acidic when you add lemon, it changes color to a royal purple! So beautiful and mesmerizing.
Can’t wait until spring to pick violets and make a syrup!
it's that time of the year again🥰🥰
I have never heard of Violet syrup..ever. This is great content about syrup, Seriously, who could do that but a Naturally Talented Witch. I am so into this channel. 3 nights ago I ran into this channel in a search mode for some thoughts to add too my Grimoire..1:29 AM? I guess. I've been watching more of these interesting videos since then, I am happy for The Green Witch and her Channel. It is valuable too me. I like simple and meaningful. Peace :)
That moment when you have all the ingredients except the violets... 😭
Love your videos! Stay safe during quarantine everyone!
That would be most of my moments lol I am always missing something!
Hahah same! I’m using rose petals instead to make a rose syrup
I never made this but have dyed fabric with with them.
Amethyst Rain I see you Shirley ✨🔮
My name is Violet and your videos encompass my personality so well so I guess it’s only fitting I make this😂💜
Violets really call to me. One of the first herbs I wildcrafted as an adult. I didn't get to violet syrup this year but have several infused oils.
I'm not a witch, I am an atheistic pagan, but I grew up in the Midwest and enjoy your very country aesthetic videos, they remind me of my family, especially my grandmother. She makes recipes like this, especially adept at pies.(grandma stereotype, I know lol)
Just now seeing this but thank you so much for the tip on collecting flowers. My first thought was a dismayed, " how am I gonna get 3 cups of violets?" I didn't know you could keep them fresh in the fridge like that-though it makes sense. Thinking of all the other flower projects I can probably accomplish the same way. Thanks again!
I made a batch of Violet mead earlier this year... it is a lot of fun. An important note here, that I'm sure is brought up in the referenced videos but always bears repeating. You have to be very careful about where you harvest any sort of wildflower from. Only harvest from sources that you know haven't been sprayed with chemicals (weed killers, pesticides, fertilizers, etc).
I recently made some dandelion honey! I really recomend it- it's the same way of making it as this video
Liam Z does it taste good??
@@Maya-uj6fm it tastes like normal honey! When cooking it looks and smells gross but when it's boiled with sugar it's tastes and smells like honey, but better! I can send you a link to the recipe I used!

@@leaf7567 nThankbyou so much for this, I am trying to learn how to do different recipies with dandelions, could you tell me please, if I can use the leaves in salads and or anything else?.... Sorry to be so ignorant but I'm trying to learn with as little resource as I have.... I live in South Wales, once a huge coal mining community so much of the ground was ruined for flowers.... I am also reliant on others to take me out as I have a spinal issue which causes chronic pain and stops me walking far..... I do have a fairly big garden although stoned for the most part but have lots of pots.....can you recommend some things to grow, appart from herbs.... I am grateful for anyone reading this post....
Blessed Be and stay safe.
Tannie Xx
Tanya Cumberlin Dandelion greens are edible! You always want to wash them well, of course. I am also no expert and I have no foraging experience, so please do some more research, too.
Here is a jam recipe I love for anyone to use:
Ingredients: 1/4-1/2 cup sugar (depends on how sweet your berries are), 2 cups of berries, 1/4 cup water
.In a pan/pot, add the berries in and mash them
.Add water and cook over medium heat until soft, crushed, and mixed together well
.Once it reaches a simmer, stir occasionally until you add the sugar and mix it in
.Reduce the heat to medium-low and constantly stir for 20-25 minutes or until dark and thick
.Once ready, scoop it into a jar and let cool for a bit
.Store in the fridge or seal it by putting the closed jar fully in boiling water for ten minutes
I use blueberries usually but I am pretty sure any berry should work well.
Edit: I made some strawberry jam yesterday and it also works
thank you so....blessed be...
Can you do this with African violets
I love this channel.
Im gettin redy to make this as we speak haha so im excited 😊 yayy me ha
It is very delicious in lemonade!
I love violets!
This syrup is good for sweetening white tea 😋 very yummy
its a lovely color,, its why I planted a purple lilac outside my bedroom window because its scent is lovely through my open window on warm spring mornings
D.C. McF Lilacs are my favorite. Pure joy.
I come back to this video every year to follow and make floral syrups. Thank you ❤
An addition of moon water made with an amethyst would be a great addon when making it.
The violets haven't yet sprouted in my very northern zone 4 but soon I will be able to make this recipe! Can't wait beautiful Video!!
Bentito artwork same here in Canada the only flowers we have rn are tiny dandelions. 😂
@@liaruth9795 dandelions are so much fun! You can eat the leafs in salads, brew them and the roots as a tea, and add them to honey (perhaps with other herbs) to make an infusion. Have fun with your dandelions til the violets come!
Savannah Bowdoin thank you for the ideas! Blessed be ❤️
Bentito artwork where are you roughly (not adress or town) I want to know if we’ll have them at the same time :)
Beautiful video 💕
You are such a pure soul! The sound of your voice is so soothing and comforting and everything that you do makes my heart sigh contentedly. You are the Green Witch that I aspire to be and watching your videos to follow you already makes me a better person and a better Wiccan. So thank you.
I really love in how you make stuff
Thank you for sharing for your violet sirup. I like very much this one. ^_^
Im new to your content but my goodness i love you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Bless you. Light and love.
thank you for this wonderful video, you are lucky to have so many violets grow in your area. Violets have medicinal properties also, I work with many Spanish speakers and in Mexico and Central America many use 'aqua violeta' (violet water) for healing purposes. For me, I would love to make this syrup and use it in deserts and drinks, wish I had violets in my area, I'll try to grow them.
I JUST MADE MY FIRST BATCH THANKS TO YOU AND THIS VIDEO
Thank you so helpful 💜
Me and my dad made this and it’s amazing
Your videos are exactly what we needed to bring into our life. We’ve been dealing with disorders that leave us needing meditation and have found your videos to have a meditative effect 💜 Thank you
Very nice video and recipe ! Thank you very much for sharing !
Thank you for this wonderful recipe. Violets just bloomed where I live, so I decided to try and do it for myself. It turned out delicious
Hello. It's so relaxing, it's very pleasant. It's fresh outside, the wind is picking up, the rain and storm are about to come...I love this atmosphere and your video helps keeping this spirit. Have a nice Sunday!
I just got some Violet oderata seeds. Planning on growing them to maturity and making a Violet Liqueur
Beautiful recipe 💜
I Love violet syrup! It's wonderful for colds and sore throats too, very soothing on the throat
how do you store it? and what is the shelf life? :) thank you!
Was watching this while plucking violets in the forest. Thank you!
Tbh i like my violet syrup really blue, since blue is one of my fav colors.
I usally add une single drop to make it just a little violet
Such a simple but beautiful recipe, my children were amazed by how the colour changes with just a few drop of lemon, thank you for sharing 💜
Sadly the violets season here has passed, but I will definitely save this for next year. Thank you so much ♡
Since I avoid white sugar I just infuse honey with violets. It keeps in the fridge and is wonderful on fresh muffins and other things.
Amazing! Thank you. I am going to try this without sugar, using a blend of raw honey and stevia (I can't eat processed sugar). Hopefully the gold honey doesn't throw off the beautiful vivid purple color... Guess I will have to find out! Thanks for this beautiful share, my yard is currently covered in wild violets!
This looks A M A Z I N G thank u for sharing...
Amazing 💜
Love it! Unfortunately violet season has already passed here in my garden but I know for sure what I'm doing next spring. I'm already thinking about what cocktails I could mix this into! 🤣
The Garden Witch oooo cocktails that’s an interesting idea.
The Garden Witch there’s a drink called “purple rain” after the prince song. I think it would fit well in that.
I have yet to meet a floral lemon drop I did not like. Violet drop. Rose, lilac, lavender, dandelion, geranium...
Saw this in my feed and I remembered this is the first video of yours I ever watched. I'd subscribed before you even got to the recipe...about the time the dog was eating the flowers out of your hand.
I don't know what it is but there's something about violets that just make my heart quicken. Everyone else believes roses are for love, but I always got that feeling from sweet little violets - like the feeling you got the first day you met your best childhood friend.
Thank you so much for the recipe! My yard has so many violets right now, I'll easily be able to make this while leaving a healthy amount of blooms.
This video made me feel so calm :) i love your videos
Lol. Kiddo loves this! Also... it turned her pancakes green, so that was fun!
This was my first herbal recipe i ever made and what kickstarted my love for herbalism and medicinal medicine, thank you so much!
I have been OBSESSED with violets this year!!!! I gathered a ton to make oxymel, but found I hadn't gathered from the appropriate spot, so I had to return them to wince they came, but what I really wanted to make was violet enfleurage. PLEASE video if you try enfleurage!!!!!!!!! :)
This looks amazing ! I was woundering if you had any recipe or way of how to extract scent from flowers or how to make oils like rose oil? Also is there a right way on how to dry flowers and plants? Thank you so much, I love your videos!
An "easy" way to extract scent from flowers is to take some very small glass containers with lid, cut some parchement paper the size of the bottom of the containers, cover them with a tiny layer of a solid oil, like coconut oil, then fill the container in fresh flowers or petals (keep in mind that you have to pick them the moment when their scent is greatest, for example if they were jasmine flowers you need to do that in the evening); fill the container, leave it overnight, then take off the flowers, and repeat as wanted. When the oil will have the intensity of scent you want, scratch it from the parchement paper and put it aside in a smaller container, better if it's a glass one. The technique to distill essential oils from flowers is pretty difficult and rather delicate, but in this way you will be able to create a scented oleolithe (hope I've written it correctly), meaning the essence of the flower trapped in a greasy substance. If you make this charging it with an intention that works accordingly to the energy of the plant, you can create a magical ointment, a simple but quick spell that can be activated whenever you use the oil.
@@annalisalundberg4561 thank you so much !! I'm glad I found awnsers :)
@@klimtdidit8482 I just tried to be helpful
Enfleurage!!! I am going to do it next year! It takes a lot of research :)
You can make a hydrosol. I took a canning pot, put a brick in the middle and a large bowl on top. Fill bottom of pot, up to brick, with flowers and top up with water. Turn on the pot, med heat, put on the lid but upside down, fill with ice. As the water boils the steam condenses on the lid and falls into the bowl. Turn off before all the water is gone, but now you have a scented water! You tube for more recipes
I want to share that I have started making a triple batch of your violet syrup! I used 10.5 cups of lovely vibrant sweet violets my mom, my son and I picked out of our backyard. Right now it sits in it's 24 hour steep but I wish I could show you a picture, it's simply gorgeous. Thank you for sharing this recipe, I've actually had this recipe in the back of my mind for a long time since I first watched your video but never had the violets to make it. This spring, more violets popped up than we could harvest. If you have an instagram I'll share pictures of the final result! Bye for now 😊
Your videos are always so beautiful, but this one in particular calls to me and fills me with joy and inspiration from its esthetic beauty!
Thank you! Here in Alaska it is rose season. I will be making this with roses instead of violets. Thank you for the tips and recipe :)
PS this worked GREAT with roses. The added lemon juice at the end really amplified the rose flavor and color. It tastes sooooo good in tea
I always check out this chhannel whenever I am going to stay at my Grandparents. As a baby witch, I’m not sure what path I wantt tto take yet. I love astrolog, gemstones and tarot but I also love herbal remedies, however, my parents aren’t exactly garden people, we have a SINGLE rose in the garden! But my Grandad has all sorts of plants so I get extremely excited whenever we go round! I am super excited to make this syrup so thank you to Annie for sharing this with us ♡︎
I luv this! I luv ALL your videos!
My kids love the color change and we have talked about other foods with ph indicator properties, like cabbage and turmeric. Once I left mine for 27 hours and it vegan turning purple on its own, and then we got to discuss natural fermentation... That batch was super delicious compared to tge lemon juice!
this one inspired me to make lavender syrup for pain, insomnia and anxiety, it works wonders and it tastes so good! I’m vegan and I got so excited from how similar to honey syrup tastes. SO GOOD! I wish I had violets so I could try this one too 🌿
Tysm for telling me how to do this
Hi, just stumbled across you channel. Violets hold a special place in my heart. They are my absolute favorite smell and my grandmother would buy me English violet candies as a kid. This video really makes me want to grow my own violets so I can try recreating this recipe, so thank you for this video!
Cool recipe. Thanks for sharing. 👍😆
so beautiful 💙💜 fairytale magic 💖
I’m really loving all of these foraging recipes!

Thank you thank you thank you! I have been practicing Wicca for around eight weeks as of this comment and making violet syrup with my best friend was what brought me into witchcraft, although it didn't work. I ended up almost breaking my dad's French Press...
your videos are so peaceful, like every time I watches your videos my mind would relax and relieve from being anxious.
I make dandelion syrup, and it’s so good with my tea. I am going to try this next time! Very pretty.
so many violets!!!
