    I've got a 36mm on my 11 Husqvarna WR300. it didn't take much to dial it in and it runs fantastic. It has a smooth linear almost electric motor type feel. I tuned it at 900' elevation and rode in CO at 7,000+' and all I had to do is turn the power jet a 1/4 turn. the only issue I've had, is on two occasions when going through a mud puddle, the throttle stuck wide open. I had to remove the carb an remove the grit that got sucked in. I've never had the issue with a standard carb. Otherwise, it's worth every penny to me.

    Nice video! The bike runs crispy critter! My experience was the same with my '18 XC 300 - plug and play. The Lectron is stone simple and works great! Love mine.
    FYI on install, KTM made the rear intake boot stiff on the newer bikes. For those you have to remove the silencer and swing up the subframe a bit for clearance as the boot is not really bendable like the older ones.
    Lectron sends the carb with a see through hose. I reused my stock black hose as my experience has been that ethanol in our crummy corn gas tends to harden the clear fuel hoses even faster than the rubber ones.

    I was really set on getting a KTM 350xcf one day but now I'm leaning towards the 300xc. The only thing I really like more about the the 350 over the 300 is that it sounds better to me since I've always been a 4 stroke guy.

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  Před 8 lety +4

      I have both of them right now. I always find myself opting for the 2 stroke when I know I'm going to ride tricky single track. Whoops and desert, I opt for the 350.

      Thanks for the reply. There's not any good trails in my area so I'll be riding mostly dirt roads, some woods and trails but the only trail near me is pretty flat since it's a snowmobile trail in the winter. If I happened to take it out to a motocross track once in a while I'm thinking the 350 would be a better choice but I really don't have any experience with a 300 2 stroke and any 2 strokes really besides an 85.

    MOG; May 12, 2018, Thumper: KTM 150 STIC, page 6: “.....top end goes into this insane scary feeling rev that builds power till you shut off, I don't know how high it can rev but it doesn't really flatten…..” “So I have had a super productive day, got the bike running so strong it's almost scary. For comparison my friend has an 18 SX250 with a vf4 and an FMF 2.1 silencer, he’s running the green PV spring. So the first session was the usual fast but didn't feel like the throttle is connected to the rear wheel at all, the power would come in uneven. Finally, I fitted my handmade tailpipe, I had a theory the STIC doesn't like back pressure, all shorties have small outlets like 22.5mm, and STD is 25.5 but long. So with the cut-down silencer and no other changes, I started it up, suddenly the engine barked by blipping the throttle, never had it do that, I was hopeful. On the track the engine came to life, the power was almost instant and way stronger on pickup, like 50% more, I asked my friend to ride it to see his opinion, he says the same, instant crazy power, it is honestly almost too much , the bottom and mid are just not like anything I have ever ridden, then the top goes into this insane scary feeling rev that builds power till you shut off , I don't know how high it can rev but it doesn't really flatten , I'm worried it might be lean but the plug had a bit of darkness to it, no detonation. I rode the 250sx and it felt powerful but less aggressive, it felt slower in some ways but has that big hp at low revs. I can't imagine a more powerful 150 and would not really want one, its3kg lighter than a YZ125 and most have around 10hp more at peak and about 15 hp more on part throttle.”

    I am really looking forward to your opinion on the Lectron. I have been trying to decide whether or not I want to continue with my JD jet kit or not. Problem for me is, my rides vary in elevation quite a bit, especially in some areas. An example would be we start at sea level, and end up at 6000ft. or we actually start at 4,000 feet and end up staying in that area, or climbing even higher to 8,000+
    B.C. Canada has such insane elevation changes depending on where you decide to go that day that it makes jetting an absolute nightmare. This carb could be the ticket I suppose. I am not going to a 4 stroke to get FI!! lol

    Did you look into the ADP Smart Carb before committing to this carb? The ADP carb is billet or cast, also never needs jetting and has NO float bowl. You should do a comparison on both carbs, that would be awesome. ADP claims your MPG will greatly increase as well.

    • @HardEnduro8
      @HardEnduro8 Před 8 lety

      +Chad Cooper Didn't know you were so in love over a carb. My apologies over APT, error. My reference was to the float which has no external lines, we ALL know it has a float, but i was exclusively referring to NO overflow lines. They have had issues over delayed delivery dates, however people have raved over the product once they actually get it delivered and put it to use. So for you to promote one product over another, without EVER actually using the product your self is just naive. It would be great if someone actually had both carbs and put them on a dyno and finally did head to head comparison.

    Did you find the Lectron a little soft in the low end? I have one on a 17' 300 XCW and can't decide if I want to keep it or go back to the stock Mikuni. I thought about getting the S3 head to go along with it thinking it might help with the low end. Wondering what you think of the combination. Thanks

    Had to cut the airbox boot on my '16 300xcw (per Lectron), and factory routing on my cable is through the cylinder head brace. Needed one turn in on the idle screw for bike to start, then it was so rich it was billowing smoke. After 5 minutes of warm up/idle adjust, the fuel level rose, filled the entire float bowl and started it puking gas all over the floor. Nothing on this issue in their tuning guide. Had to leave after hours message..hope carb is OK, since the stock carb will no longer fit with the boot shortened.

      I need to get the bike off-road, which hasn't happened with the rains in SE Texas, but it seems close riding gently on the pavement. I may yet have some fine tuning, but the overflow issue seems to have been fixed by squirting some WD40 into the gas inlet (per Lectron). The second "rib" on the air box outlet needed to be shaved off the outside circumference to allow good purchase for the clamp.

    I've read elsewhere that the carb is a bit longer than the oem Keihin and can compress the airbox boot, inducing a fold that might restrict the air flow. Some guys end up trimming a bit off the carb end of the boot to avoid problems. Just wondering what your observations were on this issue.

    • @DirtBikeChannel

    • @stepansy1143
      @stepansy1143 Před 8 lety

      +Dirt Bike Channel Maybe it's more of an XC issue. I notice that the parts fiche shows a different part number for the XC airbox boot connection than for the XC-W. Perhaps there is a slight model difference and the fit is better on XC-Ws.

  • @DavidGarcia-jw1df

    Kyle, I installed the HV Lectron this weekend, and I am still having the same issue. The bike is an ‘18 250 XC-W, and I have been trying to get the bike to run clean throughout the RPM range. Between 0 to just over 1/8th the bike still burbles and still blows a ton of smoke. I’m running everything as per the manual, and can’t figure out the bottom end “burble” and the smoke. Before the Lectron, I ran the Mikuni with the JD kit (it ran OK, but still had the “burble”). New plug, new gas at 60:1, clean filter... I can’t figure it out, any suggestions, hints? I’m going nuts with this, help. BTW, I appreciate and use the vids you post, great job.
