Go Longboard 2008. More longboarding at: www.originalskateboards.com Go longboard in some of the worlds most beautiful places. Let us thank Antarctic for the music.
The absolute nostalgia, oh my god. This brand basically made up my whole middle school persona due to their incredible marketing and video production... thanks original team.
Haha I hear ya, Pretty insane that this trip went down more than 10 years ago - even more insane that it got you into it enough to have some fun across years on your side. I think the key thing we hit on (that maybe got lost) is that the marketing and stuff was what enabled us to get out from behind the desk enough to stay sane, and creative. I think staying fresh and mentally outside the box is really how we were able to approach a lot of problems differently than some other brands did - which I think is always when your ideas have the most impact (for good and bad). I took a few years off, sold my share of OS, and just got back involved so hopefully we can get pointed more toward what we were doing in the beginning than the daily grind toward the end. Always gotta have something to shoot for - and work on. Thanks for being a part of it. _Scott
Adam Demize If you were wearing one while riding in 2008 hat's off (or should I say helmets off) You have to remember that from 2002 to 2007 longboarding didn't exist. It was called a longboard skateboard, skateboard being the key term here. Most people, all of us here at Original included, came over from surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding. Those cultures, mostly to this day, don't have the helmet culture that exists in the downhill world.
Classic this video is what got me into longboarding all these years ago. I don't have much time for it anymore sadly between raising a family and work etc but found these videos again definitely wanna get back into it
Dear Originalskateboards, These videos you have created were honestly the reason I started longboarding. I was very sceptic about joining the sport because there are so many injuries that involve bailing but because of you I found the real passion of downhill free ride. 8 months later and I now know 10 slides from colemans to pendies to nearly landing heelside and toe side standups! I give many props to you guys for getting me started with the greatest extreme sport on earth! :)
Wow! Original makes the best boards and videos! just amazing! even tho the style is so old its still amazing! The birth of longboarding! A beautiful thing!
wooowww and i just discovered this video like 10 years after it was released... man i love it, pretty up sums up the surfing spirit, the essence of longboarding as catching the asphalt waves... great, terrific video.
Hey Toud, Longboarding is about whatever you want to make it. There are no requirements to do tricks, or to do downhill or to carve or to cruise. Make it what you want and make sure you are having fun, and skating with in your limits (even if you push them from time to time). It sounds like you got the itch. Skating it's a really hard thing to put down once you start, but that's the beauty of it. Take it slow and get back on board, I am sure you will be happy you did down the line : )
This is where I started, watching videos, learning a few things about dowhill. 2023 completes 12 years as a skater, now I'm professional downhill skater and I feel very happy. Thank you community!
@lokillababygirl if you snowboard, longboarding is definitely a great sport to take up in the off season of snowboarding. You can carve down hills just like you can with a snowboard, and you can even slide the concrete like if you were slashing in the snow.
I love the way the tricks developed over time. Now we have freeride, dancing, downhill and freestyle aswell as cruising like they did in this video. Awesome
@LowCalorieFilms Hey A great all around board is the Apex 37 (2011). Having wider trucks and upgraded springs will offer more stability for carving downhill
Hey Uri, For a larger guy 6 foot (over 200) the Apex 37 will be on the small side for a full out freeride board, freestyle / freeride is within limits but the standing platform may be tight. We have a longer freeride board coming out this spring if you don't mind waiting which has a significantly larger stance platform and would work perfect for you.
@SWAMPskate From this comment (and others) it sounds like you are looking for a little of everything. The board we aimed at that sort of versatility is the Apex 37 but it isn't all about the board. The components you choose to load your board with will also greatly effect the ride. Example; For carving Original S8 trucks would be great (probably your best option), but for higher speed stuff they will not be the best option (as other trucks are more stable).
This video inspired me to make the videos I make today. This is a childhood memory I will never forget. Thanks for making my Pintail 47 for me while I was in the 7th grade. Still bombing hills with it.
Yew! That’s what I’m talking about man. Now the real question is did we get deprioritized in the YT algorithm because of that haha If you haven’t already ring the notification bell, I’m going to be posting more stuff in the near future and no one from back in the day gets notifications anymore. Hope life is good and you are still outside enjoying it someplace as often as possible. Thanks for the stoke! Scott
@OmgDiddyKong Whats up Diddy, thanks for watching man. It sounds like you have been into riding for a bit and are looking to step up. Our primary step up board of choice is the Apex 37 (you would do great with a flyweight) that said, it is not cheap compared to the rest of this stuff. If you arent looking to push the envelop to full open you might also take a look at the Pintail 37 and Pintail 40.
@Widdlyscudds Hey Wid, the S10s make the turning radius link up a little bit better which makes it a somewhat harder to initiate slides. A wide wheel base plus a more narrow truck causes a disconnect between the turning radius of the front truck and the turning radius of the back truck, this lets you start your slides easier. It is for this reason that we usually recommend S8 200mm Originals or a Randal / Bear truck around the same width for best sliding performance.
@TrystonANDTobyshow Good boards for you to check out would be either the Pintail 37 (cruising/carving), Hybrid 35 (flatland/small hills), Apex 34 (flatland/hills/tech) or the Derringer (flatland/hills/cruising/carving). Take a look at them and if you have any other questions, let us know!
@punchaloo A good board for you would be something like the Derringer 28 or the Malakai 40. The Malakai will be a bit more stable for you and more relaxed for cruising. Hope this helps, and let us know if you have any other questions
@RATM4EVER There are pictures floating around silverfish, as well as on our facebook (I believe). While most of this stuff has been pulled from riders facebook pages (ie. un-released) it certainly does exist even though we haven't done any official photography.
@elocinpie There may be longboard clinics or events in your area- attending one is a great introduction to the sport. You can also dive right in- just take it slow at first and work on balance and skills on flatland before taking on hills. Check out the Pintail 37 or Torpedo 40 as beginner board options. -Joel
I will love to see this video but the long version long time ago I saw on CD or DVD. I feel is really cool to see the total expense again in one big vídeo.
@weirdybeardyman Surfing is an important part of what we do here at Original. More than just sponsoring professional surfers to position ourselves as a surf brand, we actually surf, and choose to spend our time developing products that perform as close to our surfboards as possible. Of course this is an old video, and at this point longboarding has gone its own way away from surfing, but still, its important to remember where we came from.
@N1CKs99 Hey Nick, The Apex 34 would be your best choice, just know that this board is designed to go around 20 - 25mph, but it can handle higher speeds with more skill and experience. You can also go with the Apex 37, but it might be a little bit big for you. If you have any other questions, let us know and we'll help you out!
@BriannaDent It sounds like you're describing a Pintail shaped board. Those boards are great for anything from cruising to bombing and most other things you'd like to do. Let us know if you have any other questions!
@miked1997 Apex 34 is in production, we are waiting for graphics from our printer (scheduled to finish April 22nd) from there it will probably take us a week to apply the graphics and then we are in there. Release late April (which you guys have heard before.. but seriously thats what we are expecting right now).
@triviumfr3ak A great board for carving would be either the Pintail 40, Pintail 43 or Torpedo 40. Check them out and let us know if you have any other questions!
@CRohrich97 the Freeride 41 with rocker concave would be a good board because it's strong, stable, and allows the rider to have a wider stance. You could also go with the Pintail 43. It's made with 9 maple plys and is a stiff board!
@IbanezShredderMan the Pintail 40 starts at $179 for a complete. This would be the best board to get for the type or riding you're looking to do and the budget your trying to stay in.
@TheGorillaMaskClub I would suggest checking out either the Pintail 40 or the Apex 37. These are our best boards for what you're looking to do, so if you have any other questions, just let us know!
@@dadenash777 Man it's been so long ago, I was younger and not totally familiar with the venue names back then. But I moved to Riverside about a year after this comment and would talk to Chris Jackson all the time in Bold Bean. I went to one of his birthday partys before he ended up moving, it was a karaoke party at his house if you were there.
Always more fun to rock your own than to borrow a friends thats for sure. Multiple people on the same hill is really where the fun is. Let us know if you have any questions about the boards : )
@dipbisket check out the Pintail 37! It's a great beginner board and once you become more advanced you can upgrade your trucks, wheels, or bearings for a different feel and different ride!
@SlurryAdam we're sorry for the inconvienience but we're doing all we can do get boards back in stock and hopefully most of our boards will be available again asap
@EliteXC95 For more stability at higher speeds go with Randal or Bear trucks, for more carving performance on flat ground and small to mid sized hills go with the Original s8 200mm.
@FelixStocki Hey Felix, carving is where it all started. Right now at Original the best carving based decks we make are the Pintails. To tell you specifically which Original Pintail would be best we need to know your height and weight. Without knowing that I would recommend the Pintail 40 for lighter riders or the Pintail 43 for heavier.
@itsnotover100 You would be best off with one of our new Pintail models that are coming out in a couple weeks. Either the 43 or 46 are going to be the boards for you to choose from
@Footballplaya8572 You should take a look at either the Torpedo 40, Pintail 40, Pintail 43, Pintail 46 or the Apex 37. The Torpedo and Pintail models will be more for cruising, while the Apex is a more advanced board designed for performance.
@CarlosMantooth Great boards for you to check out are the Pintail 40, Hybrid 35, Apex 37, Apex 34 or the Derringer 28. Check them out and let us know if you have any other questions!
