    Great video. I've wondering how this would work for my hobie. I looked at the steady cast, but I wasn't sure what all I needed. This video helped a lot!

      You could go either way on the hobie but the steady cast would be sufficient in my opinion!

    I just recently installed the 24xd on my fishing jet ski. All the calibrations seemed to go well. The gps accuracy is great but sometimes if I’m going slow it has my boat/heading 180 Degrees flipped around.

      You might try calibrating again. Check and make sure your nmea backbone is installed correctly as well. Check all t's and end caps

    I have both and the 24xd is setup already. Still need to install the steady cast. My question once how do I set both up on my 106sv? Do they run simultaneously?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před 9 měsíci

      I would install the heading sensor up front for your bow units and the 24xd in the back. They will both run thrush NMEA 2000 and you will be able to go under your GPS source and select them accordingly. Holler if you have any questions. 316-313-4113 ext 407

    Can the 24xd be setup on the dash of my 18' open boat with a full windshield next to my echomap.

    Hello, do you mean do I need to purchase both? According to your video, is it true that GPSX24D can only choose one function between GPS signal source and direction indicator? This seems a bit strange?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      No. If you choose the 24xd you will be sourcing the antenna as well as the heading sensor. You can run just one but you will not want to use the same antenna for both bow and console units.

    I have the 24xd and am wondering if the directional circle available on the Livescope screen will utilize it? I am pretty sure it will now work with the Steadycast now. Won't be able to validate for a few more weeks on my boat.

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      You should be able to source the heading from the 24xd but I believe you will also be selecting it for your GPS antenna by default. Depending on where your 24xd is located that could be a problem.

    I have a UHD2 93 sv at the bow and helm, i need the 24xd on the transom and steadycast at the bow, correct?

      Yessir!

    • @michaelborcky6995
      @michaelborcky6995 Před 8 měsíci

      What happens when you make a waypoint at the bow. The front unit will use the internal GPS correct. So waypoint accuracy is diminished?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před 8 měsíci

      @michaelborcky6995 it will be pretty dang accurate since your bow mounted transducer is almost directly below your unit. At the transom there is 6+ ft room for error on a typical bass boat

    Hey, I have 8600 xsv’s and the accuracy per the display is 10-20 ft depending. I’d like more accuracy if possible, but I’m wondering if the 8600’s have better gps positioning and if the gps 24xd will help with that

  • @JimBeaumont
    @JimBeaumont Před rokem

    If you (only) install 24xd, what will it do on your chart? If you (only) install steady cast what will it do to your chart? Why need both?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      You will not want to use a 24xd for two units that are on opposite ends of the boat as this will be your source for marking waypoints. If you just want to fix your heading you can get away with a single steady cast.

    Thanks for the video..
    I have the 24 now, do you think I’ll get an added benefit with adding the steady cast?
    I see guys use 2-24xd’s
    I’m wondering if that would that would be the same as adding a steady cast..
    Garmin had many different points of view on this
    Lol
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks Kurt

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      Steady cast up front and 24 in the back would be just fine. Not much benefit to a second 24.

      Thanks for the reply and again for the video and the input…
      I get the 2-24’s being over kill,
      Just confused about the benefits
      Of 2 heading sensors, but I’m gonna put one in and see
      Lol

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem +1

      @kurtgould7821 you just can't select the 24 as your heading source without also using it as your GPS source so you will automatically mark waypoints from it. If it's at the other end of the boat your waypoints would be way off.

    Can any of these devices be shared between brands? I have both Garmin and Lowrance.

  • @chrisroberts3963
    @chrisroberts3963 Před rokem

    Ugh, Garmin should have made the steady cast with a Cat5 cable so it can go into their hub! So if you buy the SteadyCast you will have to spend an extra $100+ to run it and then an extra $50+ for each additional graph 🤦‍♂️

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      Yeah, but that's pretty standard across all brands now. The only one not using NMEA 2000 is Humminbird and I'm sure they will be switching over as well.

  • @casey2562

    plug into the GMS 10 hub?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing  Před rokem

      No. You will have to establish a NMEA 2000 network if you don't already have one.
